I've seen so many people bash OO as I read through this discussion, and it's funny cause the linux zealots are all modding them down. Mods, accept the fact that OO has it's problems and let people crack jokes at them. Jeez.
And oh yeah, how is this newsworthy? I'm curious as to how a page with a few links to OpenOffice propaganda is newsworthy, nobody uses OpenOffice. MS Office is the standard for real offices that use any formatting, let's start getting a grip on it.
Oh man you really bitchslapped whoever it was that said "Memory is cheap".
Anyway, it's the type of lameass shit that says "Memory is Cheap" then writes inefficient code Microsoft-style. That person needs to stay the fuck away from a computer for the rest of their life.
Heh, if you had Bill Gates-style money, you might be able to start your own studio. But I'm sorry, no director is gonna cough out hot dollars from his own pocket to produce one or two movies.
SCO claims that the offending code was copied from their kernel and most definitely MUST be paid for, including a $699 license fee for all people on planet earth owning any model netgear router.
Even if SoBig comes in well below that, at $100 per machine, that's probably going to be $50 million," Pescatore said, using an estimate that 500,000 computers may have been infected already.
Where did he get $100 per computers from? Did SCO dream up a stupid number like that for him? DOLT! All you have to do is download a patch and keep working. Maybe even run Norton if you're using windows. That costs NOTHING except max an hour of tech time to clean it up - and given the tech work i've done, I never make $100/hr!
Maybe this is the first step in Trusted Computing - we're supposed to trust that this worm (who's source hasn't been fully analyzed to see if it's totally benevolent or not) is supposed to clean up our systems.
I recently bought a $500 laptop on Ebay but got burned - the laptop sucks. It's cracked open, the screen sucks, the battery holds a charge for 5 minutes.
The guy I bought it from refuses to take it back; has anyone else had these problems?
I know it's somewhat offtopic, but here's what's happened from the various vendors:
Action: Paypal - filed complaint Response: They sent an email telling the jerk that ripped me off that he was in the clear becaues he stalled me for 30 days on this.
Action: Ebay - filed complaint Response: Nothing, it's been a week so far.
Action: NFIC - filed complaint Response: Nothing, it's been a week so far
When will someone take accountability for these things?
What have you guys done for this sort of thing, if you have been burned?

Hey shouldn't this be posted in 3 days? I mean, if we all RTFA'd:
"On August 16th, the Debian Project will celebrate its 10th birthday with several parties around the globe. The Debian Project was officially founded by Ian Murdock on August 16th, 1993. At that time, the whole concept of a "distribution" of GNU/Linux was new. Ian intended Debian to be a distribution which would be made openly, in the spirit of Linux and GNU. The creation of Debian was sponsored by the FSF's GNU project for one year."
In the first sentence it tells us we're all wrong for celebrating today...

"Diamonds represent a seismic change in semiconductors," says Krishnamurthy Soumyanath, Intel's director of communications circuits research. "It takes us about 10 years to evaluate a new material. We have a lot of investment in silicon. We're not about to abandon that.""
What does this say to you? Here's what it says to me:
"We're Intel, and we follow tradition like companies such as Kraft; we don't realize at all that unlike making cheese, if we're going to follow Morris's law of increase and doubling performance, we have to make leaps of faith into other shit like diamonds."
In other words, they're going to stick with silicon until the last second when they're ready to go out of business due to the fact that everyone else is using diamonds.
I can already hear the AMD fans screaming in laughter and happieness.
From the article: "Eolas had argued that the technology for "plug-ins" and "applets" made it possible for Microsoft to compete against the Netscape Navigator browser."
In other news, SCO has also sued Mozilla for the use of "HTML" and "JavaScript" which have made it possible to be used by more than one person...

What if I'm 17 and single? I'd mack on her, she'll recommend you to your boss if she likes you. Of course, the breakup could get ugly...
Oddly enough, in our society, not owning a computer has almost become a sign of illiteracy (or ilcomputeracy?) - I think it'd be odd if someone had never used either of the two for more than a few hours, thus giving them more info on how one runs and hence skewing the test.
Or maybe they've never used a computer in their life - what!? Weird!
- In RpmDrake, selection of package with the mouse doesn't work, one must use the keyboard.
- Due to unfinished new signature handling feature, RpmDrake complains about bad signature
(Urpmi suffers from the same pain).
is mandrake trying to push an unfinished product on us? I realize it's a cooker, but these are minor glitches they can work out PDQ rather than giving new users a bad impression when they hit one of these problems.

...SCO has found a new mascot, which is a robotic snake-thingy that will search and destroy all opponents.
Twas joking twas joking.
But the asshole mod apparently didn't see that...
So...are you trying to say something about guys vs. girls? Cause if so, I'm very offended, I'm a guy and I believe myself to be VERY well behaved.
Uhhh...college? Duh?
24/7 partying, bitches and ho's, cafeteria food, dorms, stripping and streaking...
He's not going to college for an MBA - he's really just going for fun!
At the end of September I'm off back to University on a years sabbatical from Red Hat

They tried this at my college, especially in the computer science labs since so much stuff was stolen.
Here's what happened - my roomie stole the actual camera and used it to monitor the hallway for police/RA's when we were drinking.
Obviously not a huge problem in high school (the use) but I'm sure some will get stolen.
So now when I open up those 5MP porn images I can see all of it easily without having to use two hands...yummmmmm
I took your suggestion and tried to find the case.

What's going on here? Can anybody tell us what this case is about, because I must be out of the news or too stupid to find this case!!
Hey, his name is Jesus, he can't be wrong!
I concur. My whole family, in fact, workplace, has had a fantastic laugh over this!!!
And SCO is actually helping national help, because is good for you!
Dude, wow! You stole that straight from the movie Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels! !!!

Damn the costs for college keep going up....
Beer, fake id's, drugs, now I have to pay for music? WTF!?
Most college students are poor anyway, nobody'll subscribe to this crap.
