Just about 2 days ago, I took 3grams of my Silver eagle (2005 Bullion) and 15grams of my 1trz gold bar along with 2grams of copper and alloyed it into 18Kt. Gold. Making a pendent for my wife. Guess I'll have to chop the rest of my eagle up really good so that they won't be able to tell what it is/was that I used for fine silver.;)
Don't forget the embedded RFID Tags, so that when you walk past a (soda)POP machine it will know if you can afford to purchase or not... If so it will start singing and dancing. Or the same for billboard advertisements and posters, etc...
Airport.. Xray and match RFID's on coins to PHOTO ID at check in... If PHOTO ID Changes and coin doesn't register that it was used as a purchase or change then the person is useing a two ID system to get free upgrades, bypass security, etc...
RFID Money with a history... Who used it last, what they bought, how much and was it legal.
Hmm... Actually, I guess I should got Patent this instead of blabbing on slashdot...
*(ok, Dating myself, I like the pop machine in the FIRST original robotech episode that would roll over to people when you called for it... "BUT I WANT A SODA!!!!!"...)
uhh.. When was the last time I had to boot... Hmm... My system is usually up 99% unless I leave on vacation or something. logout is about as far as I'll go.. Oh, I'm sorry, I forgot about when MICROSOFT FORCES MY MACHINE TO REBOOT EVEN THOUGH I TELL THE #$%!@#$@#$% UPDATE PROMPT NOT TO REBOOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sorry, Forgive me... Thats just one of my Pet Peeves with my XP Box.. My linux mythtv box on the other hand never reboots.
Win2k SP4 runs solid... But for Multimedia crap, folks are starting to complain.. they want XP... We started new images of XP this past summer and are SLOWLY rolling it out because it means new Group Policies, New Software Distribution packages for APP + XP, New Drivers for some hardware that may be legacy... License and software reinstalls on XP systems, etc.. etc.. out of about 4k computers, only about 150 - 300 are XP at this point.. Rest are 2kSP4 and will remain as long as possible. AND I think we are doing well. I have a brother-in-law that works in Public K-12 EDU Sector in MAIN (the State for those out of the US Border) and he still runs Win98 on A LOT(!) of his machines. I don't know his counts, but I know that he's using Linux on as many server as possible and Open Office on desktops because of funding issues. Lets see Microsoft Push vista, just as lickly as Congress Pushing HD. RIGHTTTTTTT....
Ha... Actually, around here (Midwest Burbs, nowheresville...) when the power went out a few months ago from storms, I was surprised the number of cars that were just PARKED outside of the houses overnight in the neighborhood because the Automatic doors weren't working... I had to show the neighbor lady how to unlatch it from the chain ("yep, that red pull hickymabob thingydoodle...") and raised it by hand for her. She had never had to do that and didn't know how and her car was "STUCK" inside. Of course my other neighbor has a generator, so he's usually pretty good. Nice to have a TV arouind for severe storms warnings, etc... I think I'm the only one of the 3 that has GAS Stove, so I can still cook, just have to light things manually. Lots of fun. Make you realize how much you depend on those pesky electrons when the hum of the always-on computer disapears. (and you habitually turn lights on/off as you enter rooms with your flashlight even though it does absolutely no good... Always thought that was funny too... )
" In such a scenario, what incentive does the research institute have to develop the drugs and medical devices other than government grants? "
Pretty much summs it up... How many Drugs are produced by communist countries where research is dependent on goverment rubles?
Moving on, next topic...
I don't get it... When I cast my electronic vote, it printed it onto PAPER... When I Verfied all the information was correct on that piece of PAPER that it printed then it finished the ballot. Otherwise, it would have started over... And for recounts and such, they have to go by the PRINTED PAPER RECORD. NOT the machine counts as everyone thinks...
No, Don't get me wrong... I think there are LOTS of OTHER issues with the current crop of machines, but the machines DO leave a PAPER trail. So, What was your complaint again?
Lets not make broad sweeping assumptions and stick to facts.
Make some type of thermite packing around HD... Press button if gard asks for laptop... done, no more sensative data.
Be sure to warn the guard first that your company's privacy policy covers the computer so they don't think your a TERRORIST or Kiddie PORNSTER...
Seriously, this is just FUD because of the election.. I'd like to see the NAMES of a company that can say their equipment was confiscated for no reason and they lost the only copy of something... I'll go one step further and state WHY would you keep trade secrets on a laptop! I bet LAPTOP THEFT occures more frequently then US Border Guard confiscation.
Just a tool to inject more fear of the current government into the sheep. Hopefully folks are smarter than that here... Oh, its Slashdot.. nevermind.
REMEMBER: PHYSICAL SECURITY is the FIRST line of security. A LAPTOP is not secure by any means! So DO NOT trust your most secure data to be left on it.
Here is a quiz... What is more likely:
1) So company XYZ creates new global changing product and G.I. Joe takes laptop... Next year the government is releasing new dept of defense underware that doesn't chaife.
2) So company XYZ creates new global changing product and G.I. Joe takes laptop... Because company was a front for $$$ laundring and had financial records of bank accounts of terrorists, etc..
3) So company XYZ creates new global changing product and G.I. Joe takes laptop... Because company was an independent contractor to Government funded research and employee was trying to smuggle product home for personal gain or export. (terrorists...)
4) So company XYZ creates new global changing product and competitor does distract-switch @ airport/border. company goes bankrupt because competitor went to market faster.
5) So company XYZ creates new global changing product and laptop is stolen for a quick sale for $50 & "rock" to the local head thug who then turns around and uses it for a child porn server.
If you said 4, I think you might have a clue. Look at HP... corporite espionage is alive and well.
So, Lesson is to keep ALL important data secured and encrypted on servers with Encrypted PTPT between client/server and LIMIT the access to ONLY THOSE THAT NEED, not the every saleman in the company that might cross a border.

Haha... This reminds me of a clueless friend of mine... She actually believed that traffic lights were set to change when an emergancy vehicle approached because of the flashing lights. I also have a theory about the seasons and how everyone that starts to put on coats because of a little chilly weather, blocks the removal of body heat by the sun. thereby giving the sun less energy to shine back onto the earth and thus it gets colder... "The Plaintiffs claim that Microsoft harmed Class Members by illegally overcharging for its software, by denying Class Members free choice in software products..."
"Plaintiffs are asking for money from Microsoft. Microsoft denies the claims and says...."
Let me predict the outcome of this class action lawsuit in Iowa...
1) The "CORE" group that started the lawsuit will get about $4000 each (Usually 2 or 3 persons that first filed the complaint)
2) all the "Class members" who join later, will get a gift card or Gift certificate for $25 off their NEXT Microsoft Purchase.
3) The Lawyers will get Millions in fees... (I'd guess around $10 Mill to split)
4) Microsoft increases the cost of future products by $15 to cover this annoyance.
5) Large computer companies will be forced to re-sign contracts that state they will not offer any other software except Microsoft software that is "compatible" with VISTA
Oh, and as for Bill Gates testifying... Right.... Don't think so. He'll have lawyers petition to have a private deposition and taped, and then only the answerers they want edited out and shipped to the court to watch in Iowa. (He's soo busy, don't cha know.)
Narrow by Category Action & Adventure (548) African American Cinema (6) Animation (24) Art House (5) Classics (54) Comedy (471) Documentary (31) Drama (756) Gay & Lesbian (3) Horror (134) International (36) Kids & Family (94) Military & War (50) Musicals & Performing Arts (88) Mystery & Thrillers (375) Science Fiction & Fantasy (173) Sports (25) Westerns (76)
I thought they wanted to break into the movie biz... Where's the "on golden blond' and other such classics. Guess I'll have to slide back into the slimy side of the internet. (No, "Gay and Lesbian" catagory is not Adult Content )

"Plaintiffs are asking for money from Microsoft. Microsoft
denies the claims and says
Let me predict the outcome of this class action lawsuit in Iowa...
1) The "CORE" group that started the lawsuit will get about $4000 each
(Usually 2 or 3 persons that first filed the complaint)
2) all the "Class members" who join later, will get a gift card or Gift certificate
for $25 off their NEXT Microsoft Purchase.
3) The Lawyers will get Millions in fees... (I'd guess around $10 Mill to split)
4) Microsoft increases the cost of future products by $15 to cover this annoyance.
5) Large computer companies will be forced to re-sign contracts that state they will
not offer any other software except Microsoft software that is "compatible" with VISTA
Oh, and as for Bill Gates testifying... Right.... Don't think so. He'll have lawyers
petition to have a private deposition and taped, and then only the answerers they want
edited out and shipped to the court to watch in Iowa. (He's soo busy, don't cha know.)
