This is not a Privacy case. Privacy happens AT HOME. If you are in your local pub that scans your ID, then what difference is that record to the bartenders oath? If you have a problem with the TRUTH, then DONT DRINK.
This Privacy thing burns my *SS because you people want your drinking records private, and that is happening in a public establishment. BUT you want to control the public establishment and limit smoking.
About 61% of American voters votes along party lines. Their attitude is, "I do not care whether the position is correct. If my party supports it, then I support it."
I mostly agree with this. But... How does one choose the party or affiliation? Nobody ever approached me and "ASKED" me to join one party or the other... It was an autonomous choice that I made at voting age, based on my (preceived) value matches with one party or the other. There seems to definatly be oposite spectrums when it comes to the two party system, but I believe if you opened yourself up to more than the "two" big money party, you'd see better matches with your value belief system than what you get now with D's or R's...
By choosing Either of the big two, you have to bite the bullet when it comes to certain issues... You may be prochoice, but hate government assisted wealfare programs. Which one wins your head's battle for control of the vote may be determains by upbringing, education, environment, ALONG with canadite inspired flash and show, etc..
Personally, I believed myself a Republican for YEARS... until I found other parties out there... Now I'm just confused. I guess I'm more towards a libitarien(sp?).. But It is still a change in progress.
Ah... Hmm... I just have to post an Editors note here. I guess that should read "BORDERS and Drugs and REAL criminal cases..." Not "Boards and Drugs and REAL criminal cases"
But I guess It could work either way... My typo... my bad...
1) NEW BREAKS! SQUEEEK... For real, get the VW serviced already. If you have the money for all that camera stuff, buy a pair of brake pads every 30K or so!
2) HONK-HONK... WHAT is it with these city drivers in New York and other places? All the Honking around... Maybe I'm just sheltered living in the smaller areas, but I NEVER have to Honk my horn. Oh, Ok, Once I Honked it to let the wife know I was waiting on her, but thats about all... How about some nice polite driving for a change?
3) Pointless... This is someones "escape from cube land" project. "Dude, we mount a camera on the roof. Tell the boss we'll digitize ever where we go and see, and we'll get free pizza, pussy and beer at motel 6's on the company charge!"
4) WASTE... How much Gas, Energy, Money, Tech and Human Service might be better saved/served/used(etc) if this project did not even exist. Instead Google should give me the money to feed/clothe some homeless people instead. What a waste of usable resources for a completely worthless tech. DO NO EVIL... How about DO NOTHING either...

I guess I don't have a problem with the drug users... I know a few. But, the Cortels and Gangs that use Drugs to fuel their warfare against the commen citizen to push more drugs to get more money results in a never ending cycle of death. So when I said about drugs, that was the general feeling I was trying to convey...
But, is legeal use of drugs any better? I dunno......:(
What, we don't have enough crime for the feds to track and work on? Now we gotta make busy work up by letting them do "civil" suits for RIAA? How much to buy a seat in washington today? How about we work on our F#CKIN6 Boards and Drugs and REAL criminal cases, and THEN if we have time at the end of the year worry about "he said/she said" civil cases. This is SAD that our government is so blatently BOUGHT by the corporations today.
I used to consider myself a republican until I realized that BOTH sides are essentually the same and will abuse their power in an instant to take what is not theirs and line their own pockets to keep power. This is getting REAL OLD... I now consider myself a libritarian, but if it keeps going the way it is, I may have to consider myself a revolutionist and start dumping tea. I already gave up Music and movies because of the RIAA and the such... (Along with the fact that their hasn't been anything good to hear/see in a number of years.) I hoped they would get the message but they don't. They just keep shoveling more sh*t into our graves... Anyone for a CD Tea Party? Real Pirates can steal boxes of CD's and we pick a good harbor to dump them into.
I paid zero dollars for it... downloaded it free.. and glad I did, I wouldn't have spent a dime on it. The "music" was cool. Lots of good vibes, and then the vocal kicks in and the voice sounds like nails on chalkboard. I'll never go back and buy it because I've deleted it and don't plan on missing it at all.
Sorry if this is harsh, I guess I'm not a Radiohead fan, but thats just how my ears hear it now... I guess 10 years ago and it would have been different. Just not sure, I guess our music taste change as we age.
Smaller memory foot print... maximized kernel... I think the codename will be "linux"

I put in 0 dollars because I haven't heard it yet... Why should I pay $$ before I even know what I'm getting?
If I like it, I'll go back, they have an ID and Password, and then I'll buy it, but not without hearing it... and the site seemed broken at least links were missing images, etc...
So, now it is between me, radiohead, and my God... Hope it sounds good.

Obsolete? It's been obsolete ever since Windows 3.0. What killed NetWare was their bloated Windows client. That's when Microsoft came in and ate their lunch.
The same thing happened with Word Perfect. They, too, couldn't manage the transition to Windows in a timely manner. Microsoft Word was pure joy compared to Word Perfect for Windows v1
I don't know how you get scored "informative"... Other than Hating, you provide no information. Mods! Please use some REAL Judgement before casting your Karma to the wind....
As for Obsolete... We use it quite well here. Yes, A School District. The only thing obsolete is the attention span of our future Admins...
The thing that Novell remembered is that a NOS (Network Operating System for those still in HS, and I know your there...) should deal with the NETWORK and not be bloated like the OS that accesses them.
Windows Server is JUST as bloated (and more coming soon) as the desktop. But I can run my Netware (or Linux, got a few) servers on hardware that wouldn't cut it with Microsoft products... So is it really that Netware is obsolete, or just that too many people are lazy and want a GUI for EVRYTHING they do.
I don't sit at my Netware console and play solitare or surf Slashdot. That is what the Desktop Operating System is for, BUT... At least one windows Admin I know thinks nothing of doing that while logged in and working at his server.
As for WP vs Word... It had nothing to do with transitions to windows. Back in the DOS days. (Do you remember those? How fast we grow old...) MS Word 5.0 was a DOS based Text editor and it was Good! Fast and efficient. Easy to change character formats, etc. But in WP (5.1?) you had to remember all the CODES to "Markup" your document. You would press a key to reveal codes and modify them and then hide them again, but MS Word 5.0 would just change the ANSI highlight. Nice and simple and always there to remind you that something is bold/centered, etc. Hmm.. Actually, I'd say the WP for Dos with the reveal codes were similar to HTML in a round about way.
Anyways, Word won right there. If it was not for the Medical Transcription field, WP would of died a quick death. But hanger-ons wanted WP 6 for Windows and that was buggy and crashed often. Cementing it in the pool of obscurity. Yes, Netware bought it and sold it. And it is still out there in the Academic world it seems, but I've lost track of who pushes and supports it now. (Still Medical field?)
Now.. A REAL cool DOS WP was Star Word. (I think that was it) on my old x86 with amber monitor. streamlined and lots of function key type commands. Just the basics.
Just the basics... Just the basics... Just the basics... Why can't we have Just the basics anymore? WHY do we need desktops with enough computing power to run small city's just to run the OS and WP? Really, we need to get back to the basics. Not all this internet fluff. (ok, that is troll'ish', I'll stop now.)
Yeah, it looked like some guys tried to take the easy way out (sell a new computer instead of fix, etc..) But I also saw the "expert" from some college saying the ram part should be only $25... What about shipping, installing, time, I remember the days when I worked Temp jobs... I was billed out at $80/hr even though I only saw $12 of it. There is overhead to have a person come over to your house and fix something. "Fix it yourself?" Umm... Don't think so. Too many folks don't know. How many times do you change your own breaks? or do something on a car? You don't you take it to the mechanic. Some mechanics are crooks & As&holes.. Same in the computer biz. But the rest of us are not.
Also for getting parts online... I've always been asked when I tell someone they need ram/hd/etc to go buy online... but they want it NOW.... So off to the BigBox store we go to purchase it NOW... Tsk...Tsk... Rather one sided.
As for the "nerd" with the "clean room" idea... I tell people that all the time when I'm explaining what could go wrong and it happens to include HD's... A Person HAS to put a $$$ Figure on their data... Is it worth $XXX to get it back, or just drop a new drive in and go. It actually looked like he just diagnosed it wrong as a Drive instead of ram. If it was a Drive and he copied the files over and restored them onto the new drive after setup, my "customers" would see me as a GOD and not think twice. IF that was the problem but we know he missed it. I don't think it was ill intention, just choppy edits, and a bad personality that seemed to want to go for the glitz of the problem instead of simple ram fix.
Oh well...
BTW, I didn't see a single "geek" with a wrist strap... And the complaints about some standards or lack of screening would be fixed if people hired were at least A+ or etc... SOME type of certification is better than none. At least with A+ they (used to) stress static shock damage with hardware, etc...
