Monday to Friday I am at the office, where we are cheap and lazy and only have IE installed on old XP machines. I *WOULD* be browsing on Chrome (like I do when at home), if it was an option. I am sure this is the case around the world.
Only if we get warnings on vote ballots, informing us that voting for a congressmen means pissing away our rights and electing somebody who is tackling the wrong issues we need dealt with by our elected officials.
Too busy to fully search, but what is the difference between Kinect on Windows and on 360. I know it says it has near mode, but is that only supported on Windows Kinects? Do I need to buy ANOTHER kinect (one for my 360, and one for my pc) or can I just use the Kinect I have for my X-Box 360 on my PC?
From now on, all my mp3's will only have 99% of the song. Sure, I may miss the end of the song now and again for certain ballads I enjoy, but I can always claim that I never lifted ALL of the song. Just a part of it.
I work for one of the other ISP's in the USA. While not American myself (I am outsourced, even though my ISP advertises that all their staff is located in America), I am at least privy to some knowledge of my company and several others. There are only like three ISP's that dominate in the US, the rest basically sharing equal 1% marketshares. If AT&T can't handle, how about the rest of us? Why are some of us doing just fine? Didn't AT&T also get bailed out a few years back, and claimed they used the money to upgrade their infrastructure. Did that not work as well as they had planned? Why did tax money go towards helping a company that will now jack up prices on the same people who just helped them?
Catchers would become a lot more useless, no longer being able to try to affect the umpire's call by moving his hand when catching the ball (to move an obvious ball to being in the strike zone), not to mention strike zones can change depending on a batter's height, stance, etc. I could, however, see them use it to judge how accurate umpires are, to at least keep them on their toes.
I understand that EA has hired a ton of the Bullfrog team that worked on the originals, but no Peter Molyneux means this is doomed to failure (aside from the fact they took a four player squad based RTS style game, and turned it into what will likely be a massively generic FPS).
Every day people bring back computers, after they did something real quick on them (played a game, wanted to download one thing, do their taxes, work on a project, etc), and stores like Walmart, Best Buy, etc etc etc will just put them right back on the shelves unless they're broken. Hell, even major companies (Toshiba, for instance) will get broken products returned to them, then just put a 'this might be broken" sticker inside the product, then when it gets returned AGAIN, they finally decide to find out whats wrong
For a long time, Canada has been ass backwards over how it allows cable and phone companies to operate. When cell phone companies wanted to charge BOTH ways for text messages, members of parliament debated allowing more companies into the country. That got stomped out RIGHT quick. Don't kid yourself, the government is NOT in charge of this country.
The trouble is that either the movement is realistic (table tennis) but limited to games where you always return to the same spot (fitness type games) or it's unrealistic movement because you have to stay in view of the camera (no combat roll, good luck turning your character around while viewing TV still). I don't think that it was hard. I just think that it's not the best (by a loooooong shot) controller for these games.
several other games work just fine. The fitness games are great, and the Kinect Sports game is fantastic, even thought the physics and AI is horrible at times.
The whole point of this is that it shows that 3D movement can be done on the 360's Kinect. Sure, you may not agree with the current ways of moving the character, as shown in the videos, but the options ARE there now. Currently most games on the kinect (or in development) are rail shooters and games that only allow limited movement (ie Table Tennis allows you to move side to side, and closer and further from the table). Now we see that full 3D movement can be done, and with relative ease
Shadow Warrior. Blood. Heretic/Hexen. Damn, all this talk makes me remember junior high fondly (which is pretty much a first). And FYI, they're making a new Doom game, they're just not going to be stupid about it this time. With Doom 3, they made the game, then sold the engine. With Doom 4, the engine is being made first, with Rage. I'm thinking we will see Fallout 3 sized worlds, featuring the moons of Mars as well as Hell
Cheating is MUCH more rampant than that. I'm in a networking course, and depending on the teacher, and their test methods, a test could be easy, do-able, or a complete nightmare. Multiple choice, true or false? No problem. Short answer and scripting/code written out by hand? Not so fun. I've cheated on an exam. To hell with an exam for a class the school has admitted is outdated and is cancelling the next next semester. Also, a lot of courses are google courses. In the real world, you're just going to google for the info you need, if necessary. No need to base an entire class around it. Do I need a course dedicated to install Server 2008 R2? No, I don't think so. Most jobs either teach you when you start, or make you work shit jobs and move up through the company, anyways
...but can't the scrambler just allow emergency calls (AAA, 911, etc), thus negating the OP's argument? Cell phones SHOULD be blocked from cars, period. Human's got along fine without them before, and if you need to make a call, just pull over. World doesn't revolve around you, welcome to the wonderful land of DELAYS
I keep telling people it's only a matter of time until you walk into a grocery store or walmart, and talk to a kinect style device, allowing you to ask where certain objects are, how much they are, what sales are coming up, etc. Then you could get directions in the store, and displays throughout the store could remind you as you walk by that you're near the object you initially searched for.
Oh boy, a store in NYC over purchased Kinects. And the holiday season is STILL going on. Wow, newsworthy. I also remember completely empty lineups at stores during the PS3 launch, and that sure doomed that system, right???? RIGHT??? Seriously, I work at another major electronics store, and we sold out, and were getting calls from virtually everybody telling us that Toys R Us or Future Shop or various other stores, were sold out. The ONLY thing worth complaining about is a some what lackluster launch featuring too many similar titles (exercise games, sports/minigame compilations, and dance simulators). And most consoles have had shitty launches during the last few gens.
I've had no problems wit hit recognizing me, or any clothing related problems. My kinect sits on my desk, in front of my HDTV, and I have no problem with it reading me. ZERO problem with voice tracking, ever. Sure, it gets mixed up when you do things like cross your arms or hide them behind your back, but it isn't THAT much of an issue. Nothing an update wouldn't fix. And I still hope they release a handheld peripheral to assist with 3D movement in games, or to constantly recognize left/right hands.
and I enjoyed it. I got to play the river race game (which I admit was meh), and joy ride (which I REALLY liked). First racing game I ever actually enjoyed. That being said, I look at the voice interaction as well, which everybody seems to miss. I look at RTS games (a genre that is seriously lacking on ALL consoles), and realize that voice interaction + body language is a great way to quickly play an RTS (even fast than mouse scrolling and hotkeys even).
I am also hoping to see some peripherals come out for this. A lot of people seem to have one complaint: they want something in their hands while they play. Well, give them some stuff. A light gun to be used in FPS, or a wheel for racing games. I don't think that Kinect by itself will dominate, but it will definitely add some great features to other games (RPGs should become VERY interesting)
Seriously, I would bring it to their attention the workload increase you've recieved. That isn't just a couple of things thrown on you here and there. You've been given a ton of new responsibilities, and they've definitely changed what you were initially hired to do.
At the very LEAST, you should be asking for a raise. I would likely ask for an assistant and a new title as well. Good luck to them to get somebody to instantly replace you and learn all that is needed in the timeframe they so obviously are looking at.

Copyright lobby wants Canada out of the TPP, and I want the copyright lobby out of Canada.
Rejoice, denizens of the interweb. We won this battle. But the war is far from over.
I can't believe it took THIS long for a Soviet Russia joke for shame, /.
