Why would someone mod me as funny? I am not joking, it's what they said... Do I believe them? No. They are the same people who said they wouldn't be allowing preorders for the PS3 and Wii because of what happened last year, and then they did it anyhow. I don't believe them, but they said it.
Maybe it says "we are REALLY REALLY REALLY excited about the Wii, but we know that the supply dwarfs the demand, so here is some negative things we can say about the Wii in hopes that people will believe it, and not show up to buy a Wii, so we have better chances of getting one ourselves."
You're right. But just because you don't know anyone who thinks it is just like playing guitar doesn't mean that Fender isn't making some cash off of some of the people I know.:)
(At least that's the dialog I heard in the second level when the big guy smacks you on the shoulder or whatever those blocky characters are doing...) Ah, the good ol' SNES.
Most likely true, since this is what they did here with the 360, and a close friend of mine works there and she said that they won't do pre-orders for Wii or PS3 either.
My local EB Games told me that they wouldn't do pre-orders either, but then I was in there the other day and they were doing it.. So. Whatever.
If you were truly concerned about poor people then you'd know that it's the poorest people on the planet who'll be taking the brunt of the suffering caused by climate change such as decreasing supplies of water, increasing heat requiring air conditioning for survival rather than comfort, etc.
But those people can simply get a third job in order to pay for the electricity bill that the PS3 that they bought with money from their second job consumes!
I did submit an article to Slashdot about the release of a game not long ago by LGP, and as Michael says, indeed, they refused to post it. I guess bitching about the situation is more fun than supporting the only real company trying to make a difference.
I say that Sony should step in here and make a Playstation 4 system that plays a new format of audio CD, allowing for high-definition audio and 100s of GB of data storage. That would be a great idea, because this new format is what everyone wants - nay, needs - and it will sell the game console like hot cakes!
Well, since you haven't heard, Nintendo is ready to launch their Wii console. The controller for the Wii has full motion sensing capabilities, allows you to swing it like a baseball bat, translating directly on the screen, your movements. It is shaped like a remote control, has a speaker built in, as well as a small amount of memory for player profiles. Oh, and it has rumble features. So in a way, yes. But normal controller? No.
For games, I usually read reviews and impulse buy a lot of crap I never play. Demos have sometimes worked in the past, but it's not really a major factor.
But, the principle works for me for music. I won't buy stuff that I don't know if I will like (unless it is very cheap, then I tend to add a few extra discs for a couple bucks to an order, if descriptions sound decent - but so far I haven't found any good music this way).
Another one: Try dragging some application launchers around on your GNOME panel. For me, this bug still exists, and yes, it was reported in Launchpad. Simple fix: don't drag launchers around on your GNOME panel.
Also, Epiphany is my browser of choice, and it had adblocking capabilities in Dapper too.
(Of course, if you don't like wasting a writable CD each time you convert your songs, then wait until you've purchased a few more songs and convert them all at once.)
If only someone would make some kind of writable CDs that you could re-use instead of wasting... That'd be perfect.
I dream of a day when I won't have to get off my couch to put the legally-purchased games I own into my game console, stream video, pictures, and music from my Linux PC, check the weather, etc. all without the use of these law-breaking modchips.
I guess the Wii has a lot of that covered, and probably the PS3 and 360, I don't know. But for me, I really am THAT lazy, that I don't wanna switch the discs.:) That's a benefit of using a modchip even to those who don't pirate software.
If you want something so badly that you need to pre-order it, you should want it bad enough that you are willing to actually go to the store when it is first available. If you can't be bothered to, and other people get it before you, then you can't want it bad enough. I don't understand the big fuss about pre-ordering something. It makes sense for many reasons that places don't allow pre-orders.
You're right. My bad.
Oh man, I hope they hire the Zoom-Zoom kid that Mazda did!

You seem to have forgotten that the PS3 launches two days before. :)
Holy crap, Nintendo is releasing Twilight Princess on the PS3??
That indeed does make the Wii launch lineup pretty pathetic!
Talk about shooting themselves in the foot.
You forgot "and posting on Slashdot via the LinksBox browser"
According to my local EB Games (owned by GameStop, I think), the next shippment of PS3s is not expected until March.
WTF is going on with this world? Microsoft re-selling Linux, and now this? Now how will we know what is real and what is not on April 1st?
You're right. But just because you don't know anyone who thinks it is just like playing guitar doesn't mean that Fender isn't making some cash off of some of the people I know. :)
"It doesn't have anything to do with playing guitar,"
Finally, someone admits that Guitar Hero is not about playing guitar. It's just DDR played with your fingers.
Ma tu va!
(At least that's the dialog I heard in the second level when the big guy smacks you on the shoulder or whatever those blocky characters are doing...) Ah, the good ol' SNES.
Yes you would! You would have every invention, including all video game consoles.

Stop being overly critical, guy!

Yeah, of course it works fine in Dapper, I am talking about Edgy. Here is the bug report: https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/gnome -panel/+bug/59431
