I don't know what your comment has to do with anything, but you don't know me. My family would obviously come first. However, my wife is not pregnant, so far nobody in my family is on their death bed, and I don't play the lottery.
If you're bitching me out because I am not in a starving country and have budgeted my income according to my lifestyle, then what are you doing on the internet posting comments on Slashdot when you could be out working a job to get a paycheck to buy your food and water?
Nobody said it was enough, they just said that it was more. Of course it won't be enough. I'm counting on it, so for the first time in the history of.. me, I will be standing overnight in a lineup for a release of a product.
Well, vinyl doesn't have DRM, and I don't see how it could possibly. I would welcome a return to vinyl, personally, although I think that this article is stupid, as you have certainly pointed out... That is not a reason to buy vinyl at all. People just do what other people do, and this all started with one kid showing his friends his grandparents' record player, and then they started buying it up. And everyone followed suit because people do that kind of thing. That's my theory.
If you let the fear of failure stop you from making the purchase, you're contributing to the potential failure.
If you want something to succeed, you need to be a part of it. It's a little bit of the chicken-and-the-egg, but if you really think about it, 3rd party support isn't going to happen unless there's a market. The market will come if people believe in this console, and believe me, I haven't been so excited about a gaming system since I got my TurboGrafx 16... I'm sure I'm not the only one.
Step out in faith that good things will come, and they will. Many developers have already confirmed things that we had thought, cheap development, great controls, etc. Everything points to success. I think Nintendo is doing everything right, despite the things that might make some people complain. Really, the only thing I can do is buy the Wii and hope that everyone else does too. If we all do, then it will be a success. But if nobody buys it because they're afraid they'll drop off the map, then it's our own undoing.
I just can't see it failing, and if I'm wrong, then I'm wrong. But I have faith in it.
You can't guarantee that any new product will succeed. It's a risk that you as a consumer have to take.
You can take your pretty pink ponies. I am holding out for the bundle pack that includes historically-accurate giant enemy crabs and Riiiiiidge Raaacer!
However not all popular applications are available out of the box, especially when it comes to graphics and gaming. Although users can choose from an enormous range of applications for the OS, such as image-editing program The GIMP, or Cedega for running PC games on top of Linux, these must be sourced and downloaded individually.
Last time I checked (which was Edgy Knot 2), The GIMP was still installed by default in Ubuntu.

Most bundle packages cost extra. The Wii will likely come in a package without the game, just not at launch. And probably it'll be $200 when it does come out.
But the difference is that Duke Nukem Forever is nothing that the developers said it would be - it's currently even vaporware, whereas Daikatana is everything that John Romero said it would be, and more.
The Wii remote had nothing to do with the decision! Stop spreading lies! Clearly it was an innovation thought up by Sony - that's what they said - weren't you listening?
OK, great news for you! I am now renting you the air that you breathe. You have the option to breathe it for free, but if you prefer, I would gladly accept $15/year of your money. Oh yeah, I take PayPal and well-concealed cash.
Don't count on it. Sony thinks they could sell a flaming paper bag of feces and have you hand over your wallet for it. And I'm betting that a few people would.
If you get exhausted just from moving your fingers to click and push buttons, then I think you aren't going to be too happy when you hear about the Nintendo Wii's control scheme.
What America really needs is a gaming console that lets you control your games simply by chewing food and drinking soda.
I guess they can't do anything right anymore... Maybe they'll have better luck next year.
You need not spend a lot of money on voice acting. Check out Baten Kaitos, for example.
:)
Or did you want good voice acting?

How delightful that a new generation is discovering the joy of 7-inch.
Couldn't have said it much better myself.

Was there a good episode of Sliders?

So... wait. You're saying that the Wii does NOT include a magical flute controller?
What a scam.

No Daikatana?!
Whoosh. Right over your head.
There's also free services, like gmail, yahoo, hotmail, etc.

I was waiting for The Daily Dose. And here it is!

It's the games that matter. Too bad Sony was banking on being the big performer. Well, the decision is sealed, I think. Wii for me.
What was wrong with the PS3? It has games that feature historically accurate giant enemy crabs!
Raising and slaughtering humans for consumption at the dinner table is inhumane and I will not tolerate it any more!
It has been 6 years this month that I stopped eating human meats.
If anyone else wants to join this boycott of human flesh consumption, I would like to suggest that you try some HuFu - The Healthy Human Flesh Alternative.
Channel Surfer Underground 2 is a fun game, but it still requires pushing buttons. :)
