Point one isn't really vaild. How many of the banner ads does your mom click on? Or is just being bombarded by them make her paying? As for webcams, that's up to the clients. Most of them use P2P and don't go through the service.
In answer to your point #2, a single client with a single connection is better then 1 client with many connections all on different ports. Most of which need to be kept open, firewall rules created etc.
Third point... I have a friend that works for jabber. And the do actually have a service (a jabber.org server) that you can connect to.
However, the protocol is open, and there are tons of other servers out there that are not run by the parent company. That said, the jabber.org server doesn't have connectors at the moment.
The nice thing about jabber is you can setup your own local private server. But also have connectors to other servers/services as you choose.
The adapter is only for dual function devices. These devices are able to tell the difference between PS/2 and USB and switch to that mode. The adapters are nothing more then strait through contacts with the correct pinout.
What you need is a USB / PS/2 keyboard. Then you can plug it into the adapter and all will be well.
Being slashdot, I doubt you read right off your own links.
Application: USB ADAPTER for USB A Type Male to Mini Din 6 Pin Female ***IMPORTANT NOTE***: 10160 is the adapter ONLY, without chips and any software. If you do NOT have the related chips and software on your computer, we strongly recommend you to by the whole converter.
Yeah, but too bad tarpits don't work with NAT + contrack.
If you use tarpit and contrack it will take up a resources for each hit.:(

I wrote a quick how-to a while ago with Transport Tycoon. I still play DOS games every now and then. Some of the classics just haven't been replaced. And yes, I know aobut simutrans, but it's no where near as good as the original.
As a last resort I yesterday asked them why they didn't simply obey the license terms and suddenly they were willing to do so. I've mailed what I wanted them to do (adding a single line to the about box, as stated in the license) however haven't heared since. I'll try mailing them later today again.
Looks like they may have changed their minds. Might want to hold off on the witch hunt... then again why they are so much fun.:)
Procmail and a good set of rules does wonders. I have a rather strict set myself. It gets around 99% of spam, and about 5% of legit mail. I'm willing to live with that considering it deletes THOUSANDS of spam messages. And yes I know since the setup I have does the following:
1) Check the email for "flags" and mark add to the header X-Header: Spam-RC [Rule name it matched on]
2) Count the number of flags in header >= 3 remove from inbox and add to gzipped file.
3) End of every day report list of messages deleted (From and Subject Only)
4) Delete all gzip archives older then two weeks. That way I can go back and get a valid message.
This doesn't work for everyone, but I'm very happy with it. In addition, even if you don't host your own email, you can use fetchmail + procmail no matter what your ISP does.
Re:Usability Questions

Review: KDE 3.2

As a total non-geek GUI user here are my questions on KDE's usability.
I would say so based on the questions, but..
1) KDE (for as long as I can remember) has had a kappfinder that locates programs on your disk. You can run it then check off the apps you wanted added to the KMenu.
2) Just drag a file and drop it somewhere, a context menu will appear and ask if you want a "copy, move, or shortcut (link)."
4) Depends if the app was written correctly. UT2003, Savage, etc. all do this then put a link in ~/.kde/share/applink/* which is your KMenu entries.
5) You can create links (shortcuts) that way. KMenueditor (right click the K menu icon, kde start button) and then do all your editing.
6) Not that I'm aware of, but you can drag-drop a folder on the panel then either add shortcut URL to that dir OR a quick browse tray like you described.
7) You can use ANYTHING you want. But what's wrong with konqueror? Hate to tell you but Windows does the SAME thing with ie. You're viewing your files in a webpage locally.
8) Of course, this is dependant on your OS. But Linux or UNIX clone has all files by default in/home/username/*. That include all your settings too.
9) Yes, KDE has had "LISA" for a long time. It's a samba network browser for KDE.
10) I don't use Mac so can't say anything about it, but you need to look at the KDE "Control Center" and the GUI tools.
Not sure, but you almost sound like a troll. I mean KDE isn't TRYING to emulate Windows/Mac/etc. They are out to just be a great desktop environment. KDE 3.2 goes a long way towards this. I suggest you try it and spend some time using it before you pass judgement on it because it doesn't have feature 'X' or 'Y'.
I also have a review with screenshots I wrote of it (pre-patch) here.
I think Savage is a great game. Hell, even the game itself aside, I bought it because they put on the requirements "Windows OR Linux" on the box. That's worth my money alone. I support those companies who support Linux.
It's a wonder with all the experiments with fission, fusion, and now big bang that we are still alive.
Don't get me wrong, I'm all for learning and experimenting but just scares me to think of the magnitudes these could have. We have always been experimenting with things we don't fully understand. It seems to be just a matter of time before someone ends up blowing an entire country off the face of the earth... or worse.
I have had this running before but got it out today since it's been a while since I tried it.
Well, I ran into a problem with it crashing on my new kernel. It turns out the memory remap function doesn't auto detect like it should with kernel 2.6.1 and it would crash before even giving me a prompt. I found a fix by forcing mapping mode to "mapfile". I also included screenshots of Transport Tycoon running on it and my configs.
And maybe you should read my entire post. My point was that this wasn't the BIGGEST feat for NASA. Almost 30 years ago, and yes long before 97' we've landed on Mars.

Well you're wrong.
WC3,GT3, MOO3, and others DO work on WineX.

GTA3 w/ Screenshot
Masters of Orion III w/ Screenshot
Do a little research before posting FUD!
Sure a few don't work but many do.
How about http://www.linuxquestions.org/
And of course tons more run with Wine[X] including those Direct3D only ones.
Lets not forget the GREAT Linux games too...
NO reason not to use linux for games!

Um... someone tell this whining child that's the whole point of most FPS games. He just can't stand to lose, so he has to whine about snipers.
This looks like the same technology used in Sum of All Fears when they walk into the glass room with panels and it goes to a white opaque.
It's a wonder with all the experiments with fission, fusion, and now big bang that we are still alive.

Just think, we have 28 YEARS of new technology on what they did back then. It's a greater feat to have done it back in 76'
