Being an American and Linux advocate I was working temporarily in Sweden several years ago and I made the decision to use Linux and Solaris for file, mail and web services for a two month project. The resident system admins were sceptical and repeatedly questioned why Americans claim to want computer standards and interoperability but hate Microsoft. It's true, we do want those things but based on proper standards such as RFC's and the like. Incidently, the non-Microsoft solution worked fine.
Oh, that lisp. Give me the old lisp atoms anytime. What could be more clear than :

(t (cons (finkel-eval (car list) env)

that's all we ask. Microsoft is the most suitable candidate to find spyware infecting their product. Hopefully this is step one, followed by OS changes eliminating/reducing the possibility. Dream over...
I don't know about the TV shows you watch but I am routinely compelled to rant and rave at my TV screen for the garbage spewing from it. Granted, not a ideal form of socializing but my four letter vocabulary is flourishing...
100000 virus == two's complement overflow for the 32bit OS on which they thrive. The number of computer virii is as misleading as the medical alternative considering the human toll that is exacted.
"The reason we called it RC1 was that we wanted people to think that we were serious." I for one welcome our serious microsoft overlords... for a change.
College is a time of rebellion against the 'machine' and power to the people. If ever there was a more benign grassroots movement than open source and 'in your face' smackdown to corporate control suitable to todays US times I can't imagine.
Might be a cryptic weekend of interaction going something like this....
Mom: Hi Son
CowboyNeal:WU
Mom: Any weekend plans?
CowboyNeal:YGIAGAM, maybe ZZZ
Mom: The grass needs cutting
CowboyNeal:ROTFLMAO, as if...
Mom: Sigh
CowboyNeal: POAHF, OTOH maybe nutin. CYA L8R.
My experience with firefox has been if I tell someone to use it they do, most of the time without questioning why. Not a hint of concern about 'publicized' IE security flaws of Microsoft failings. Seems most users just want to surf the net, take care of business or whatever. I guess this can still be claimed as a victory for firefox...
Depends on how Gimp is used. As an amateur I was able to locate the limited features I wanted and learned to use them. Really quite simple. Obviously Gimp is much more than what I use and professional graphic art needs drive the rest of the features. I assume they are relevant to more advanced users.
We have been fast forwarding through commercials for years. This legislation is a joke. Consumers are not required to read the ads in magazines or newspapers. I really see no difference.
Sometimes it's necessary to cut your losses and admit that you can't have everything. In my case I embrace RH and their march toward the mainstream. The only way I can 'elect' to run Linux is to toe the line of certification and to RH's credit they have shelled out the bucks to appease all the PHBs in control of virtually everthing. When freedom of choice moments of clarity arise I scramble to fedora or some other cleansing moment...
Revenge of the Nerds, touche!

it's not so much a increase in Firefox on Windows as a growth spurt of Linux and firefox of course...

I've been there too and technically Galle is on the west coast around the point from Matara. Regardless, the loss was significant.
The people of Galle, one of the hard hit areas on the west coast, might take exception to your comment about escaping major damage.
Seems most of mine is a tad different...

Easy one, Windows feature. Be an ironic "Final Jeopardy" question though.
Woohoo, that is the deal clincher. Sign me up for AOL today.
Taming the radio frontier, I like it.

Reminds me of scenes from To Kill a Mockingbird. It's really bigger than all of us.
