Win95 - first generation, kind of a struggle, not nearly as good as OS/2
Not nearly as good? That's like saying that your BBQ in your backyard is nearly as hot as the Sun. Win95 was a program launcher on MS-Dos versus OS/2 was a full fledged 32 bit protected mode operating system that ran many enterprise critical applications, like ATM machines.
Media, as in news media is the problem. Every time a fucked up nutcase goes out on a killing spree, there is non stop media coverage. News media glorifies the murderers yet no one remembers one of the victims. So the next nutcase sitting at home watching this is probably thinking: Man, I could do the same thing and the world will remember me!
Windows 8 is a very disciplined direction. Doesn't mean: a good direction, but a unified GUI and an answer to ARM-based tablets was the strategy. Good? The market will decide.
Man, fire up start screen, start typing 'print'. Nothing found. Go to desktop, go to control panel, in the search box type 'print'. Oh wow, it found printers and devices. Half of things on W8 are found in one place, half in another. Does that sounds unified? The amount of annoying crap in W8 is astounding. Open Office on W8 RT, and try to save a file. Good luck if you got fat fingers, UI elements are from desktop. Oops? Oh and don't even get me started on Windows Server 2012 UI.
W8 is a Frankenstein OS, it is as far from Unified GUI as you can get.
Disclosure: I use Windows Server 2012 as my desktop.
Mistake #1: He compares it to 32 GB iPad, yet fails to mention that Windows and Office alone eat up about 12GB. So in reality, Surface is 20 GB and not 32.
Game sales are down for consoles maybe. With a bit of googling, you might find silly things like NVidia's 23% revenue growth attributed to PC gaming alone. And of course that Steam has 100% sales growth in 2012 over 2011. Oh and Diablo III selling like hotcakes. But hey, this profit growth is all because DRM is making people NOT buy games right?
I don't think there a lot of people activating phones by installing ROMS. Even Cyanogen, the most popular ROM has only 2.7 million total installs. That's what? 3 days worth of Android activations. A drop in the bucket. The average user has no knowledge in flashing ROMS and installing even factory images.
I use monthly about 4-5 minutes air time on my phone. Rest of time is maps, browsing, reading and games. Phablets are prefect for me. I keep telling people that I don't have a phone but a small tablet with a phone app.
Zuck: Yeah so if you ever need info about anyone at Harvard Zuck: Just ask. Zuck: I have over 4,000 emails, pictures, addresses, SNS [Redacted Friend's Name]: What? How'd you Zuck: People just submitted it. Zuck: I don't know why. Zuck: They "trust me" Zuck: Dumb fucks.
Or it could be Nokia being ridiculously desperate. Microsoft has NOTHING to gain by patent trolling Google. Zero.
Care to explain why HTC and Samsung are paying Android royalties to MS? MS always wanted to prove that Android is not free, what better method to achieve this than patent trolling.

Sure, a high-end gaming system is going to draw more power even when idle than a crappy underpowered and outdated system (like my mom's)
Current generation of video cards, even the high end, draw maybe 2-3 watts when idle. The Ivy Bridge CPUs are 77 Watt TDP rated and idle they consume peanuts. With a good PSU and SSD, I seriously doubt these systems will draw more power idle than a crappy outdated system.

Slow down cowboy. Pretty sure parent meant the exact same thing.
for single people its $90 a month for the carrier bill
Holy shit, that's a lot of money for cellphone service.
Until very recently computing has all been utilising the benefits of this year's more powerful and more resource hungry x86 processor.
Yes, indeed. That explains why the TDP of processors is constantly going down: 125W to 95W to 77W.
Oh wait ...

Praying ...
Praying sure helped preventing this tragedy, no? Or was Jesus too busy somewhere else?

Unified GUI?
Ahahhahahaahhahahahaahhaaahahaha!

A tablet is just a rectangle with rounded corners. What's so novel about it?

Obvious shill is obvious.
That statement assumes that the average user^H^H^H^H^product of Facebook cares about privacy.
Wasn't it hyped as the WoW killer?

I like the iPhone but am waiting on the 5 before I upgrade, especially since it's just a couple of months away.
Closely followed by the 5S just after Christmas.
Care to explain the 18 month life the iPhone 4 had?
Here you go.
I was led to believe and can now confirm it has an extremely responsive OS and UI
Jelly Bean update gave a fresh new life to my aging Nexus S. It's a fantastic update. UI is very smooth and responsive.

Where?!
Why should PC sales be different?
Ask Apple, they went through the 2008 financial clusterfuck with flying colours. Same for some Android makers.

Apple's: $600
iPad 2 is 400$ and iPad 3 is 500$.
Ironic, considering Mark Z is all about openness.

I claim prior art circa 1996. My real name is not Pig Benis. I don't live in Fucking, Austria neither.
