Yep, there are two bombing missions in GTA that I can think of. One has you driving a garbage truck rigged with a bomb, the other has you stealing a police car and getting it rigged with a bomb. In both missions, you have to park the vehicle and then get away before it goes boom.

Vice City also has a couple of bombing missions, so they could have been playing that.

True, but how many of those passwords are protecting something I really care about? Do I really care if someone cracks my slashdot password? Not really. What are they going to do, ruin my karma? Inconvenient, hardly a catastrophe.

Most of the time, the only reason I use a password is because the site requires it, not because I care that much about protecting my account. NYTimes. Battle.net ZDNet. All those sites get the exact same password. If someone guess it, oh well. So they can read stories under my account.

That only leaves a few passwords for me to remember, for those accounts that I really want to protect. It makes things a lot easier to manage.

I'll agree, any or all of those excuses might give you an out. Once the case gets to court.

However, lets just say that some scumbag uses your internet connection to download some kiddy porn. Since it's not HIS connection, he's not terribly careful, and your address falls into the hands of the FBI.

Soooo, they come banging on your door bright and early one morning, with their guns and their search warrants. They confiscate everything in your house that's even remotely computer related, and haul it all off as potential evidence. Maybe they'll arrest you too, who knows?

Now you get to spend lots of time and money fighting those accusations, while trying to assure friends, family, co-workers, and strangers that it's all a mistake and you're really innocent. Then you'll finally get to court, and maybe your defense will stand up and you'll be found innocent. Then you can spend a couple more years trying to recover your confiscated property.

    Worth it?

Me... I think I'll keep everything as secure as I can, and count on the fact that there are hundreds of unsecure connections out there, and no real reason for anyone to go through the trouble of breaking into mine. I might not be totally safe, but at least I'm not asking for trouble.

Nooooooo... LIE to get past stupid HR people. That gets you the interview with the CIO. If you do well in the interview, your resume goes back down to HR, and they check your education, certs, employment history, references, set up the drug check, and do all the other busywork that HR people do to keep themselves employed. Then all the findings go in one big happy package and goes back upstairs for the formal job offering.

I'd like to see some verification for your "Troll" cert, please. You didn't handle that very well at all.

I agree... a cert won't mean much once the interview process starts, but it could make the difference in getting the interview in the first place.

I worked as HR Database Admin for a fairly large (6000+ employee) manufacturing company with plants all over the US. A monster ad for a new Network admin brought in 500+ resumes.

The position reported directly to the CIO, so he was running the hiring process. You don't drop 500 resumes on the CIO's desk. You don't even drop 100 resumes on his desk.

We told him how many applicants we had, and he basically said "OK, throw out everyone who doesn't have a degree, everyone who doesn't have a certification, and everyone who doesn't have a stable work history and at least 5 years of experience. Let me know how many are left."

That got us down to about 60 or so. Did we toss out the best candidate? Very likely. Did we have the time and manpower to give each of those resumes the attention it deserved? Hell no.

I think when he says "200 years experience", he doesn't mean they've actually been playing for 200 years. It's not like a flight time figure, where 200 hours means they actually spent 200 hours in the cockpit. I think he just means that the total years elapsed since the first started playing for all of them combined adds up to 200.

  21. Not a bad concept on New RFC Considers .sex TLD Dangerous · · Score: 0

I don't think that creating an "adult" TLD is a bad idea. The danger would come when websites and judged and rated and then forced to operate under that domain and no other As the article pointed out, laws and standards defining pornograpy vary wildly, and there's no way you can fairly and impartially judge web sites, especially if their content is constantly changing.

But if joining the adult TLD was a voluntary act, I think it would be very useful. I'd certainly give it strong consideration if I ran an adult website. I don't know how their costs break down, but surely there's a significant bandwidth usage by minors who have no method or intention of joining the website, but are just poking around looking for free stuff. There must also be some fairly hefty legal costs involved. If using an adult TLD would offer some protection from those problems, they might actually become quite popular.

One thing, though... don't use that stupid ".xxx"
extension to identify the adult domain. Any website that ends in ".xxx" is automatically going to be classified as some cheesy '70s porn sex site, and I think that there are other businesses besides pornographers who might be interested in being able to place their website where minors can't access it. Dating services, or online casinos, for example.
