dear god, i know exactly what you mean. I have family members calling me at all hours of the day to tell them how to run winamp or install morpheus and what not. There is definitely a large portion of older people who still don't know waht they are doing.
their revenues went down because the ENTIRE economy went down.
the reason it helps is because of people like me. I never purchased a cd before, the radio took care of all my music needs. But with the advent of the internet, i was introduced to new artists. Because these artists aren't played on the radio, and because I wanted to support them, I bought their cd. Never would have paid for music otherwise.
not to mention that people have been swapping music LONG before the dawn of the internet. tape to tape recording and such.
somehow, they actaul claimed billions of dollars in loss. Not to beat a dead horse or anything, but how can they possilbe claim billions in loss and still support the lifestyles they do. Unless they were a trillion dollar industry, billions of dollars would be making a big dent in their lives. I could go on and on about how filesharing is helping them out, but I just wanted to mention their ridiculous claims of loss.
that's exactly what i thought. But, as google is a HUGE international organization, it makes loads of sense for them. That's 5x the traffic they can feed, even though you won't see a noticeable difference.
i'm just going to have to disagree. 3DMAX's interface is dead simple. All you have to do is play with it for a while. The advanced features aren't really interface related. And Blender does have a bastardized interface. I've used 3DMAX, LW, and MAYA (my fav of the three), and all of their interfaces are far superior. It'd not that blender isn't great, it's just that the interface is a pain in the ass. So, I can't stop saying it sux, because it does. The interface is just basterdized.
Of course, once you learn it, it isn't so bad, but I'd rather just play around with the MAYA PLE, since it is also free.
Anyway, if you need a book to navigate the interface, then that sez something about the interface. Most interfaces i've used can be comforatabley learnt just playing around with it. (the only time i've ever refered to the book is to figure out how to do MAYA cloth)
beat me too it. Seriously though, people can be very religious about what platform to use. A lot of the advice on that page is applicable however, so have at it. Let me also direct you to this lovely little FAQ for the site.
Oh, and it doesn't quite have everything, it has most of the tools that come with complete (and complete doesn't have SubD, a favorite tool of mine). and PLE doesn't have the scripting function (but its free, so what do you expect). oh, and when we say watermark, we mean it .
The person suing was suing because Ebay wouldn't remove the comment, not because the comment got put there in the first place. Still, Ebay shouldn't be liable, and their EULA probably sees to that.
victory for an end to frivalous law suits? Haha, just kidding. There are many more frivalous law suits to come, and for god knows what. Maybe that "spider bite I got at Disneyland" (Bart).
the article sez it best : "The ruling is just too sophomoric and silly not to be appealed" . And that is how I feel, not some sort of law gone haywire or victory for free-speech, just silly.
nice link. I like how it gives you an error message. I now understand why you were very, very angry. If you want, you can try the html version. Not that there is much ado on that page, but whatever.
I wouldn't quite say that. NTFS might be proprietary, but progs like Partition Magic have been able to partition the mystical NTFS. Though the price does shy away many a person. Personally, I'd rather use a second HDD to dual boot anyway, that way if one disk fails, I still have the other operating system.
well, you've got me there. a boycott, by deffinition would be us not watching it. But, knowing a lot of people here, many a slashdot will see it opening weekend. Which is were the zero-day warez comes in. It alllows a new hybrid version of rebelious boycott, allowing us to get what we want, and say fuck you to the MPAA.
anti-trust laws have traditionaly been used very sparingly, a conservative/pro-big bussiness court is usually the reason why.

NO, no, no. You've got it all wrong. They mean based on Unix! D'uh...
just kidding, that's what I first thought they meant when I read "Microsoft's equivalent to OSX.
my hat off to you sir, I never even realized where that pose came from
"Unfortunately, no one can be told what the Matrix is. That's why I'm going to tell you in about ten minutes."
