    Nobody is going to make much money by trying to sell something that users can get for free.

    Then why do I pay for Mac OS X which includes Apache, Samba, etc.???

    I also bought my New Beetle from Volkswagen. I didn't really feel the need to buy all the individual components and build the car myself.

    Probably not.

    So saying that switching to OOo always requires training is a bit of FUD.

    Steve Ballmer spoke at a recent Air Force conference that I attended. He let us know that the U.S. Air Force is the single largest customer of Microsoft.

    You do know that the US Government is the largest customer for just about EVERY vendor. Right?

    Actually the US is NOT a democracy.

    It's a republic where there is a lot of buffer between the voters and the representatives......

    You forget that Sun got this land from the city of Santa Clara. The city required Sun to support development for the community. Keeping the old Agnews buildings spending tons of money remodeling. Keeping a portion of the property as a public park and other landscaping. (i.e. that tree was part of it.} Providing subsidies for the housing/marketplace development on the adjacent land.....

    Many parents also have this nasty habit of riding the educators long and hard, basically dictating what and how the school will teach. Nevermind the fact that the educators have spent years studying How To Educate -- the parents always know how to teach their kids better.

    Nevermind that a lot of these 'educators' are just flash card babies who can memorize anything, reguritate it back out on a quiz-test and thought it would be fun to be a teacher and make quizes-tests of ther own...

    I've met some GREAT educators who love what they do and are truely good at it. Unfortunately, they are few....
