Hello everybody,
My name is Bill Gates. I have just written up an e-mail tracing program that traces everyone to whom this message is forwarded to. I am experimenting with this and I need your help. Forward this to everyone you know and if it reaches 1000 people everyone on the list will receive $1000 at my expense. Enjoy.
They do care about the laws. Think about it. If spam is outlawed, then there will be less spam. So, then, that'll make any spam that you do get even more noticeable.
With that in mind... the hardcore spammers would love it if all the softcore spammers were forced out of the business - due to laws. The hardcore spammers aren't going to stop regardless, but they'd love it if everyone else stopped;-).
I heard them use the term 'googling' on ER the other night. That term is definitely part of the "American" language, and noone can do anything about it;-).
Typically, 15 percent of shoppers leave clothing stores without getting what they want; during the test, fewer than 1 percent of Gap shoppers left empty-handed.
How in the world can that be true? Sometimes I go into a Gap store just to use the bathroom. Other times I walk through it just to get to the other side of the mall. What if I'm with a group of friends, and only one of us makes a purchase? What about my poor boyfriends of yesteryear who were just there to hold my bags;-)?
1%? I don't believe it. Just like 100% of voters voted for Saddam.
They should just put a few life-like partially decomposed mannequins right near the entrances of the buildings. For more effect, have the mannequins clutching at their throats.
There patent also includes the version control of the webserver itself, etc, but that still is just a specific use of an already generalized tool. I believe that this patent just covers "the revision control of web assets".
On the flip side, can I get a patent for "webserving revision control assets" ?
This is great, but I wanted to point out that the new software does have design commonalities with bind. The way I see it, they both support the same external interface, but they have different implementations.
Back in the dot-com days, companies were filled with free massages, free dry cleaning, ping pong tables, and even free beer, but never suicide counseling. Who would need it? Things were going so great, nobody needed it.
As soon as the dot-com implosion started, everyone needed some suicide counseling, and yet noone could afford it, because of the free massages. Ironic?
They also sent out a contract thing they wanted me to sign as a disclaimer of responsibility and liability and all this nonsense. I talked to their attorney and he said it was standard. I said, "Not standard for me and I'm not signing it, I will be depositing your check however." He wasn't too happy about that...
"Standard" is one of the most abused words on Earth. You can use it to attempt to convince anyone of anything:
A new mother asks: "Why did you chop off some of the skin on my son's penis?" The doctor answers: "Oh, that's just standard practice, nothing for you to worry about."
"Microsoft had us do an audit last year that took two weeks out of my schedule," Rugg said. "That's two week's work of taxpayers' money to satisfy Microsoft."
Then:
Weeks said more experiments will have to be done before Linux could be considered for schoolwide use.
Too bad they didn't do such rigorous "experiments" before they decided to go with Microsoft. If they had, then the Microsoft audit wouldn't have been such a surprise.
... will wreak £150bn of destruction a year across the world within a decade.
It may cost that much for the first 3-4 years, but then the price will decrease. Why? Because noone will bother fixing what was broken anymore. Those who live in disaster-prone areas will quickly become uninsurable, and noone will risk living in those places any longer.
That part doesn't make much sense... but then there is this part:
Internet interconnection allows customers connected to one Internet network to send and receive emails and access web sites which are connected to another Internet network. Generally it is the case that consumers connect to the Internet via an Internet service provider or ISP.

I still wonder whether we'll figure out a way to communicate again with it in the near future. Regardless of what they say, I still have hope ;-).

You cannot apply a technological solution to a sociological problem. (Edwards' Law)
In this particular case, the signature should say:
You can apply a sociological solution (suicide counseling) to a technical problem (hard drive crash). ;-)

Add in another 20 lines of the above, and that should do it. It'd suck if I wanted to add an HREF to imdb.com ;-).

speculated that NASA is downplaying the debris strike to fend off criticism it might not have done enough to get the astronauts back safely.
There is no possible way NASA could fend off such criticism by just pretending mistake C happened instead of mistake G.

Internet interconnection allows customers connected to one Internet network to send and receive emails and access web sites which are connected to another Internet network. Generally it is the case that consumers connect to the Internet via an Internet service provider or ISP.
That is unfair, and should be outlawed.

This is obviously old news. Duh ;-).
Does anyone have any theories as to why this comet never tore itself completely apart once it got so close to the sun?
