weren't there 3 EotB's? Either way, those were some AWESOME games, and it's really too bad they're gone. I remember how amazing those graphics seemed... Some things actually looked shiny, and everything that was supposed to be smooth looked smooth... it was astounding to me!!
I went to school with a bunch of these people. I was majoring in programming, and they were training to be "computer system specialists". It's amazing the joy they found in stealing the balls from the mice in labs. They must have stolen half the mouse balls in the entire college. Also, most of them onlky knew ram as what their buddies did to them;)

I'm surprised that no one's mentioned this to you... but if you had READ his page, he's planning on running WinXP, and was considering win2000 if he couldn't get his controller working on it. It's a very interesting page, and you might want to consider reading it. It's not about modding a nintendo to run windows, it's about modding a computer to fit in a nintendo case.
Why would you pick the cheapest PC, and most expensive dialup?
Some people fall into all the hype from AOhelL and MSN. If no one used these over prices services, do you think they'd still be around? Even Microsoft would give up on it eventually if NO ONE used their service... or at least they'd change their pricing. They'd make MSN cost $2.50/month, and lost money on it, so that they'd drive everyone else out of business, then jack it to $45/month once everyone's hooked. We all know the MS way, don't we?
so, no, i dont care what my car looks like. Nor do i ask my wife to get a boob-job or myself get hair-transplants. Vanity at what expense?
Very well put. If you saw what my car looks like, you would understand why I perfer function over looks;) I drive an '86 Cavalier that is smurf blue, dented to hell and back, one window is covered in a thin plastic sheet, to keep the outside weather out of the car, and you can hear the beast coming from 2 miles away. I don't give a damn, it gets me where I'm going. I have better things to do than worry about it.
See? The evil guys might fight dirty, but the good guys always win. I knew movies mirrored life exactly, which is why I don't bother to go outside, I just stay locked in my basement and watch movies on my computer while reading/.
Apple's desktops are the sleekest or sexiest, but unless you home build you own whacked case with neon and shit, x86 desktops look like crap too.
wait a minute... let me get this straight... the physical look of a desktop system is the most important feature to you?!? The thing I like about x86 systems is that they're easy to configure... I'm talking about hardware configuration... leaving software out of the picture completely. It's easy to get ram from any number of manufacturers. You have a million video card choices. Upgrading a processor is as easy as pulling a lever. Changing modems (if you like that sorta thing) is simple, as are NICs and sound cards. Adding or removing drives are as easy as plugging a few idiot-proof cables.
granted, I've never been inside of a mac, but from what I know it's all propriety apple stuff. Well, the video card may be an exception, but I'm not positive.
umm... the moral of the story, if there is one, is that it doesn't matter WHAT your system looks like. It's the ease of use, and the power that matter.
That's just cool. I've been looking at getting a mac since OS X came out, and this is just one more reason to do it. Plus, I think iPods rock, and I'd love one of them... oh if I only had money... My one question about Rendezvous is this: How secure is it? Could anyone with a powerbook sit just outside the walls of your company and have their system "just work" on your network? Could someone go near your house and print a 200 page document in the middle of the night, and you wake up out of paper and ink? How hard is it to make things "just not work"?
I'm glad I'm not the only one that thought to mount dual-space heaters on their system! I figure it's already pumping out tons of heat, why not use it to warm my house?
Actually, his point is quite true. Not like the video card would help with it, but the less lag you get when mudding, the better. I've been killed by the lag monster WAY too many times. Same thing's happened to me in Diablo online. You'd think my cable modem would fix this, but noooo... I open to door to the butcher's room, things freeze for a second, then I see that I'm dead. MUDding can be just as bad. You're fighting a beastly fido, lag hits, you die. You died to a beastly fido!? Wow, you're pathetic.
...and while we talk about taxes being paid, Amazon is paying property tax on any physical location it has (warehouses, server rooms). Also they're paying income tax on everything they make, and all their employees pay taxes when that money gets passed to them. Plenty of taxes are being paid here.
I look on slashdot and see that my current browser had security holes, and an update saying that it's already fixed and where to get the fixed version. I love Opera. It makes me happy. If only other *coughmicrosoftcough* companies would learn from this!
But the really cool thing about this is that if it's printed on normal paper, you can most likely recycle it. This will be a lot better than current PCs that are very difficult adn costly to recycle.

We're shutting the few remaining vaxes at work off soon...isn't everyone?
We still have lots of systems running VMS, one is a VAX, and a bunch are alphas. We have no plans to stop in the foreseeable (I know, I can't spell) future. They run some important apps that we don't have on other operating systems.

You pull out a note pad and begin to write...
Dear Sally,
And your paper clip stands up and says "It looks like you're writing a letter, would you like help?".
You throw the paper clip in the trash, but before you can get rid of it, it winks at you. Scared yet?

Actually, I think that Alphas aren't near 1GHz yet. The fastest I've seen (I know that they make faster ones than this) is a 566 MHz I believe.

Congratulations on a job well done to the folks at ZK03 in Nashua, NH!"
HOLY CRAP!!! I lived in NH for 16 years, and I was positive that I was the only person in the whole state that had a computer!!
hey man, that's some nice shit, if I could mod, I'd mod you up.
