Actually, I have a B.A. in English and have been a programmer for about 10 years. I'm going back to get my 2nd Bachelors in Computer Science. I only need to take the last 2 years of school, so it's pratically the same thing (except my course will concentrate on science rather than specific technical niches).
When I'm coding, the slowest piece of the process is efficiently getting all of my thoughts into my editor. If I was a two-fingered typist, I'd probably still be working on stuff several projects ago.
Also, the.NET SDK comes with a C# compiler (no need to purchase Visual Studio.NET if you don't want to).
I'd say C# is the original language of.NET, but there are SO many VB coders out there that VB.NET will be the primary language used at a lot of shops.
You can (and I have) build a PC with almost complete parity with a mac in terms of components - and it usually ends up costing about the same as a mac!
Just a quick note: An end-user purchasing components using off-the-shelf components purchased at the lowest end-user price is paying significantly more than Apple is paying for its individual components. An economy of scale thing.
They're not "IE Engineers," they're Software Engineers.
As professional Software Engineers, they're able to effectively move from project to project and not get pidgeon-holed on one thing their entire careers.
Going to have to talk to them about their HD support, then. A museum in Seattle is using CE-based devices with an integral HD, and their HD speeds are more than satisfactory.
Perhaps hardware issues, or driver issues, but the fault lays squarely with them, and not CE.
Should just do what I started doing awhile back: Just read and enjoy/. and let others fight for the "priviledge" of having a story accepted. There are more worthwhile things to get upset about.
Actually you could get *limited* colors at 320x200. I forget what the term for it was, but I remember coding a game in 320x200. It was a matter of alternating lit pixels. If you had a run of 8 pixels, and every odd-numbered pixel was lit, then you'd have one color. If every even-numbered pixel was lit, you'd have another color. And if every color was lit, you'd have white (every color).
Ok, ok, to it was only 4-color, but I remember creating a nifty (at the time) character-based game using those colors to pretty good effect (again, for the time). High res, and 4 color, 1337! Of course, then the Amiga came along and my efforts seemed pretty pathetic, but damn it was fun!
Anyone remember "De Rey Atari" book? I'm sure I got the spelling wrong, and the 3-ring binder with the book is stored in a garage in florida, so it's probably now bug-crumbs, but those were the days:)
That's a step to take; however, until their CD also changes the settings for services to automatically start at boot, you'll still have problems in the future.
Sure, I know that the only truly safe computer is one that isn't turned on, but starting with all unnecessary services disabled by default will sure go a long way towards securing a windows box.
You haven't heard about it because the internet is down.
Oh, wait...
Sure, make fun that you can't replace Windows 95 with a version of office.
But you Unix types wouldn't bat an eye if the text read "...replacing Windows 95 with emacs!"
...and don't get caught inside the event horizon
Hey, that's where I do all my best work--my basement, in all its 80's wall-paneling glory (darn those previous owners!).
The unwashed masses had a glimpse of what life was like in the /. Subscriber's world. Whoooaaaah!
Bank error in your favor: +3 Funny.

That's simply amazing. Made me realize that I'm not even close to being the geek I thought I was--I would've bought a six-pack and called it a day.
Yes. Your scheduled rebooting of windows will now resume.
I was getting a ton of them today--I cleared my cache and emptied my cookies. All now seems to be well.
You sure about that? I've only managed to find a blurb about the C# compiler being included.
Also, the .NET SDK comes with a C# compiler (no need to purchase Visual Studio .NET if you don't want to).

There's a correlation between quality and quantity of education and money, not IQ and money.

That would be, "kg's are easier for a person's mass," as kg's are units of mass, not weight. Gotta apply the right units of measurement :)
HELL no! Anything that will get you past the HR goons and on the the hiring manager to really show your knowledge to ain't half bad.
Consider the money you spent to get a cert to simply be interview protection money.
I expect big honking batteries and lots of heat.
You know, the heat is ok, I guess. But those damn honking batteries would get irritating after awhile. But that's just me.

It's a book review!
The original article can be found at here, among other places.
I know, I know, it was (probably) a joke. It's just that the "Insightful" moderation I saw got to me.

Darn, is Novell buying the Apache Group, too?!
Perhaps when they purchased Ximian?
Looks like Novell renamed Evolution to Novell Evolution.
