So we would trade one danger (carbon) for another (radiation).
I agree with most of your statement, but I dont believe the choice you put in there is really all that spectacular.
What about wind turbines/water turbines/solar?
Dams have issues as well, so lets not talk about that.
Harness what Nature gives us, not destroy it.
Zip and RAR and PAR are used to distribute illegal software, WAREZ, etc. as well as legitimate business items. It is ironic that they were not targeted, unless you think through the logic here.
Torrents are the major backbone of the definition "cloud", or a distributed network of systems with full or partial files contained on them which can be pieced back together to form the whole.
This too is ironic, since "cloud" is the big hype currently surrounding the IT world. (Of course this is laughable, "Cloud computing" has been around for a long time)
Because Torrents are difficult to remove due to the distribution method, they target the tracking sites instead.
I cannot tell if you are being sarcastic or serious. Sad case in either instance because regardless if you think something is real or not, it is obvious that pollutants have a huge impact on humans and therefor should be reduced.
Actually it wasnt the "site owner", it was a DNS redirect. Or in the hacking world a "DNS poison" initiated by the government, owners and controllers of ICANN.
Looks like the site got redirected to that SC hosting company
After reading TFA I found SOFTLAYER is the host of torrent-finder.com/ torrent-finder.info
So... how is this a hoax? Please explain your findings.
I had a big ole analysis to post to this, but slashdot was complaining it was too long.
With that said, I dont know how you think this is a hoax. I see no proof one way or the other. It is leading back to a Hosting company in South Carolina.
Is this the original hosting company? Who knows. But it would be dependent on what the hosting company says about what is going on. Did they put up that graphic or did the owner of the site?
However, this story does not surprise me. We have given away so many freedoms that this could have been executed under any act, including the patriot act.
Yes, as a child I questioned this as well. I didnt understand the concept of "you must show the correct price on the shelf" and "plus taxes" disclaimer on the tag itself in small print.
I didnt like it then, because it seemed dishonest. But now I know the percentage, and just quickly calculate the tax. Unfortunately I have become compliant.
Of course to a visitor from outside the country, what I thought when I was younger is what they would think. So I understand.
Although I disagree with LaHood on this one, your comment is fallacious. He is attempting to protect me from people who lack the skill to do two things at once.
Like I want to get run over by a 16 year old girl who is talking on the phone while chewing bubblegum and paying attention to her friends in her dads hummer.
I agree, and when you have a heart attack or if you are rich and have onstar service and get into a wreck and no one can be notified because of these devices, I will think "Good thing he wasn't distracted calling for help while he died."
This is the same reason why they didnt scramble cel phones in movie theaters.
I believe that has been taken out of context. We do not know where (this guy that left the TSA search), ended the search. Did he end it in the middle, before it started, etc? No one has bothered to ask because deflating a "fear" part of the story ends the drama. Your News reporting at its best.
I'd rather work on some obscure network and infrastructure issue than solve some end user problem. End users ARE boring. Their problems are always stupid or caused by some misconception a bout computing they have(for example being convinced that computers are able to really perform human like reasoning and wanting to offload to a computer their managerial and intellectual work)
The first part of your statement after "End users ARE boring." made me think... now there is a true programmer. *My program is perfect, its the end user that is the problem*. But then you quantified your statement further. However, the end user is right. It just depends on how much money they want to spend to "automate" their desired outcome.

It still makes me wonder how this is not a violation of the warrant-less search and seizure clause.
I mean, innocent until proven guilty, probably cause does not exist (does it?) so searching someone in an airport would (IMO) be a warrant-less search unless there's a judge standing at the gates and the TSA agent is asked to swear by oath that the person that just walked through the door has committed a crime.
Because it is a place of business, and in order to gain access to that place of business you must follow their rules or leave. Of course this is a government sponsored security restriction, but that is their logic to how they can validate this type of treatment.
Oh, and I believe the TSA made these two options or else policy is to force people to use the expensive scanners because they found that people did not want to use them.
When one continues to think of "Windows Interface" as sub-par, less intimate, less romantic, or beneath them one does not think outside the box. Windows, in its simplest form, is a way to present options to someone, that would otherwise have to look up KB, help, manuals, etc. to find. Some feel that this is a better way to "get to know your software", but the reality is that it leaves open holes and unknown potential for software. Our world is fast paced and crazy, sure taking the time to read up on something and discovery can be fun and exciting, but there are other things to do in life.. like explore that backyard you have.
So, in my world, competitive is a matter of ease of use, security, and cost. Linux can solve a problem that Windows cannot without programming, and Windows may be a better option due to integration and ease of use for my users.
Competition? PPFFFTTTT, not at small to mid-level business range.
What am I gunna do with it, read "Go dog, go" and "wheres waldo"?
For $250, there better be a happy ending, and I dont mean a kids happy ending, I mean a massage parlor happy ending
Dont spend your money on crap, the Dollar is still worth something!
Better than death by IRS building.

Trickle down economics... the rich just move to another country.

Unfortunately for those in debt what people owe is more protected and backed up than what they have

It is the app causing the problem, but Apple allowed the app.
Therefore, a curse on both houses.
have you forgotten about WIndows Millennium and Vista? This is the limit of India's "abilities".
LOL, Faux News was linked as proof that a story is real.
National Enquirer gets more stories right than Faux News do.
