    Several years ago a life raft was found adrift off the coast of California. The several occupants had been in the raft a few weeks, had no water distillation or purification equipment, but were all adequately hydrated.
    The answer is something everyone that goes out on a boat should know.
    The fishing boat that want down had on board a nurse that had in her possession surgical tubing. With that tubing she periodically gave the survivors salt water enemas. The lower intestine, designed to extract water from the human waste stream, was adequate to extract moisture while being impermeable to the salt in the salt water.
    Bingo! Or, as they say here, profit!
    (Next time I go out on the ocean my kit will contain an enema syringe)
