Truth. Fact is, humans need to be proficient at a lot of things in order to live properly. A few autist people is great, because they have a hyper-focus that is useful in certain situations, but even they require others in order to function on a day-to-day basis. It is extremely inefficient and very evolutionarily undesirable. Autists are unable to handle situations outside of their specialization. That's unsustainable for a large number of people.

What value is gained for reading a book, watching a movie, listening to music or mounting a pretty painting on the wall? It's all entertainment. If he enjoyed doing it, that's all the gain *he* needs. Entertainment is an end unto itself. Fun and beauty ARE utility.
i'd rather do the other things i listed above than play WoW, but in the end, it's all fun and games.
When you do those others, you are culturing yourself and learning about the world and other people. All of those things (I would argue that this is a lot less true of movies than the others, though all the film majors out there would disagree) are highly educational and help you better yourself as a person. This is not true of video games, ESPECIALLY MMO time sinks.
Saying playing WoW is comparable to reading is sad and says a lot about our society.
It is out of context, because William Shakespere didn't say that himself. It came out of the mouth of one of his characters. A villain, nonetheless. You can't attribute to the author what a character says. Characters frequently say things their authors disagree with.
Yes, because you obsessively checking the apple.com site is proof that they're stable enough to run enormous and essential financial databases. Like parent said, there are a lot of transactions per second happening on this thing and they can't afford for it to mess up ever.
As far as using COBOL, it's because these programs are likely older than you.
I'm one of the people who paid $0. I haven't had a chance to listen to it yet, but if I like it, I'll go back and pay. I've never really listened to Radiohead before, so I wasn't willing to pay for it yet.
He was right. He lost to winter, not the Russian Army. You'd think that after multiple armies being ravaged by the Russian winters, someone would figure out a better plan than invading Russia in the fall.
Verses the combined military might of Russia, China, France, Germany, the UK, Spain, Italy to name a few.
The rest of those would be difficult, but France would surrender once you landed troops in the country and Italy would switch sides once a month. I suppose for that matter, Russia would just throw infantry at our tanks and Spain would be neutral anyways, so we'd only have difficulty with China, Germany, and the UK.
Yes, well, in any case, recommending a certain type of person live there is not telling other people not to live there. They're just saying that that type of person would enjoy living there the most.
The Best Buy by my house took a full hour after opening to sell out. I'd meant to get there half an hour before opening, but due to an exceptionally crazy saturday night, was in no condition to get up when my alarm went off.
More proof that alcohol is bad, kids: if you drink, you don't get a Wii.
I agree that there are a lot of good games that don't have the one main character. FFVI is a great example. It's my favorite video game ever.
Having a strong main character makes it easier to write an engaging story. Writing a story with diverse characters that still pulls the player in is difficult, because you have to give them a clearer reason to identify with all of the characters. It's doable, but is more difficult. My guess is that they were having trouble making the story work without Vaan and Penelo, so they wrote them in. That adding two more caracters for battles was just an added bonus.
People like to have a "main character" in movies, books, and games. It helps them to identify with the situation much better. Most of the strongest games (from a storytelling perspective) are ones with a strong lead character. Vaan is a good one because, as ou say, they represent the normal person. Most people would have trouble identifying with a Sky Pirate or Princess, but identifying with a 17 year old orphan is easy. This is why most fantasy books start off with the main character being a commoner who, unknown to him has magical powers/is prophesized/etc. It starts you somewhere you're familiar (bein a normal person) and greadually works you into being someone special. It makes you feel as if it could really happen to you.
The Mavs choked. Not arguing that. It pissed me and everyone in Dallas off. Doesn't make the refs' calls acceptable.
Cuban has been fined for arguing with the refs and calling them idiots, which they frequently are, but he's never claimed that the NBA is trying to cheat him, just that refs frequently make bad calls.
Cuban's own words on why there's no conspiracy: http://www.blogmaverick.com/2006/06/20/the-nba-is- rigged-please/
And let me reiterate my earlier point: you're an idiot.
BTW, he's stated very publicly that there's no was a conspiracy could ever happen in the NBA. It's too public of an organization for a secret like that to be kept under wraps. He does, however, feel that the Mavs were the butt of some very bad calls in the finals, which most people watching that series agree with.
You're obviously missing what's going on here. HE's suing THEM. Good luck with Google suing him into oblivion, considering they have no reason to sue him.
And as a fellow Dallasite, I love Cuban. He isn't afraid to say what he wants, to the NBA or anyone else. I appreciate that.
Plus, he's made the Mavs a decent team over the last several teams, which I like.
George "I am the Omniscient One" Lucas created a wonderful story in "Star Wars" (SW) #4. The quality wavered in SW #5. Then, the quality zoomed up in SW #6.
Everyone knows #5 was the best.

Yeah, but you have to have a lot more, since wifi just doesn't have the range. Maybe it's cheaper per AP, but you have to have a ton more of them.

The full themesong is only about 20 seconds long. It makes a great ringtone. I use it myself. I love that song.
That just ensures a higher percentage of rich people, which isn't necessarily analogous.
Don't forget the Swedish Empire.

First it turned into a monster and hopped away, then it said the REAL Wii was in the next castle. Rinse, repeat x8.
Umm... Replace "commonity" with "commodity", and he used it correctly. You get an F.
"absolutely ideal for a young professional and socialite!"
The fact that we live in a world that can construe that as racist makes me angry.

Not completely true, there was FFX-2, but we don't like to talk about that game. =P
