Think beyond the the storage media for a second: How about watching movies over a streaming broadband connection?
I think Trepass has hit the nail on the head. How long will it be before I am watching movies on demand over my 56K modem? I bet the MPAA lawyers are all over this.
I am currently using GIMP on WinNT 4 and it works remarkable well. There are very few crashes now, and when it does go belly up it is usually the GTK+ port.
I would love to reboot everyday! That means that I have Linux on my work ThinkPad and I get to take it home at night and work on it at home. That's 2 (re)boots per day.

Yup, I run NT on my ThinkPad and I have to reboot everyday -- to take it home!:)
Seriously, I think it would be great to run Linux on a laptop. One thing stopping me is the boot time and hassle. Unlike some OSs, Linux is not very good at, and does not seem to like, rebooting very often.
Yea, I'm worried that users are going to go nuts with this paradigm (sorry). They don't know what is local and what is remote, therefor they start storing things everywhere.
My Mom cant find stuff on her own 2G hard drive, let alone on a huge network FULL of stuff!!!
GREAT! I am just waiting for someone to come up with a better way to manage my stuff.
I am tired of nested directories!
With the advent of cheap, open-source X, I would think that someone smarter than me would develop this. All we get are Motif, Windows & MacOS knock-offs.
I was thinking on the way to work this morning about ways to stop spam. One way I thought of was to configure your email filter to look for a special X-HEADER that contains some unique code (PGP Fingerprint?) of the sender. Your email filter could then match those fingerprints up with a file of known good friends and simply reject the ones that dont match or dont have the X-HEADER in place.
Someone needs to tell Apple it's not supposed to use OpenGL for 2D applications. Look here for to see how they are rendering the GUI in Max OS X (aka Aqua) with OpenGL.
Ok, I thought it was just me. I have a Riva128 and I installed XFree86 4.0 so I could get better 3D. Wrong! XF86 4 docs say that they support the Riva128, and I guess it works, but it's not very good.
I will probably fall back to XF86 3 and try to get that to work. Has anyone gotten OpenGL accelleration on a Riva128 & XF86 combination?!?
Space Academy! OMG! Thank you! I have been trying to find the name of this show for YEARS!!! Everytime I ask someone if they remember a show in the late 70's, set in space/asteroid, I get blank stares! Whew, I'm glad thats over. Now on to finding the Ultimate Question.:)
Yea, but he said *cheap*. Last time I checked the empeg car player was running @ ~$1000US. Not in my budget...:(

Hmmm, Im using 44MB under WinNT4. I seriously hope this version is not optimized!
And I thought NT was a memory hog! I sure am glad that I have 224MB of RAM.

This is good because it shows that IE is forgiving enough to display even really munged up HTML.
This is bad because HTML designers dont have to follow the rules anymore. "It works on my system." sigh
