I don't think more people cooperating will really find new exploits, they will simply explore the ones they have already found. So, instead of an exploit coming out and than a derivative coming out a couple weeks later, we will see four or five derivates in quick succession of the original exploit.

Well, I dont know how much faster things can get exploited and cracked...
Major warez groups usually try to get the first release of new software, and over half the time they have a cracked version out BEFORE the legitimate version is put for sale in stores.

I just had to download doom3 before it was out, and then buy the copy after.

But in the same way, people have been exploiting software in groups forever, this isnt new.

I will bite this one, because I hate generalizations and stereotypes.

I am also aware that lawyers too, by virtue of their understanding of meticulous contracts and weighing of evidence, consider themselves *far* smarter than others.

This falls into several logical reasoning fallacies, including a biased sample, hasty generaliztion, cause and effect, and spotlight.

I think it's a middle-class disease. If you're upper class with inherited property and investments, then the urge to prove yourself isn't all that pressing. But If you're a middle-class and falling into the ranks of lower-class isn't unthinkable, then kicking the lower-class man is a good way to relieve your tension.

This arguement, which is based on a previous false arguement draws horrible conclusions.

Please, before you try and make an arguement, learn how to make a valid arguement.

No, I am not a lawyer, I am not defending them speficically.

Not only does the data appear bad --- but the questions themself are VERY weak in determining the "Most connected campus".

A quick few that seem ridiculous - Computers Per Student and Ownership Requirements. They think a good way of determining the most connected campuses is by counting the number of computers per student the university owns, but also the university requiring students to own their own computer?

I dont see how this is advantageous. No university should require students to own their own computer --- supplied computers are more than adequate for school use. I currently go to a very good university for computer science, and some of my fellow classmates for budget reasons do not own their own computer. They make use of the school resources and have no problem doing so. They even go so far as to including a Computers Provided section where computers are provided in tuition. I do not believe this is a sign of a good school, computer purchasing should be left to the individual if they CAN afford it, and tuition is already inflating far too fast.

This is a problem that is not going to go away quickly, because those individual users are not going to change quickly, and there is no financial reason for OS companies to make better software.
