I think they are gearing up to make their own fixed-target hardware spec. They talked a lot recently about working with Intel on drivers. It wouldn't be a stretch for them to partner up with Asus or someone like that to make an Ivy-bridge or newer spec system that's mac mini sized to go under the tv. Remember their fabled big-screen mode? It all fits in my mind. Big screen+mini box+Linux.
Most security issues are circumvented by appropriate use of firewalls. Many vulnerabilities require phishing or similar attacks which are irrelevant on servers. Privilege separation limits any damage.
The simple fact is that it's much easier to just rebuild an infected or compromised laptop than re-tool your entire company to use Linux. Far, far cheaper, as you will already have someone in-house building new laptops anyway; the process is no different, just a few more man-hours.
Any sensibly-run company will use a mixture of technologies; Unix is strong on scalability and security, Windows for ease-of-implementation, off-the-shelf solutions and rapid development, mostly due to the widespread availability of cheap skills, and an out-of-the-box extensible directory service that makes user management a lot easier. Linux for web services, appliances and VM hosting.
There is no black and white solution to questions of this kind, but the argument against Linux is the same for any OS out of its comfort zone: cost.
My last memory of the originals was a worn out VHS copy, so this collection seemed pretty good to me. I was too young to see the first two films at the cinema, so I've never seen them as good as this.
There are three options here, which are, Apple haven't even considered it, Apple have considered it and discounted it, or Apple have considered it, discounted it and are now laughing at the armchair experts in Slashdot comments threads.
Picks out some anal simulation game, keyboard/mouse control, how he's got stuck into a particular sandbox online game. This isn't new at all.
I still get annoyed at the keyboard/mouse argument. Yes, it's quicker and more accurate. Few except people with godlike joypad skills could deny that. But why is that necessarily good? People look at me strangely when I ask, but after playing a lot of Quake 3 and then just sitting back to spectate for a second at these guys with incredible hit percentages, bouncing about like rabbits, not failing to hit each other as they did, the whole thing just looks like a farce. It wasn't too bad in futuristic settings, but as soon as the whole thing moved into realistic war settings like Enemy Territory and Battlefield I just checked out completely. Anyone who's fired a gun will tell you that that kind of accuracy is completely off the scale, especially when jumping around. This is not a John Woo movie. Now I crave the relative poorness of the joypad control. It's a great leveller, and introduces far more tactics into the game than any amount of extra HUD that a greater definition can offer.
I recently finally got tired of WoW, and thank God I did. I'd have been upset to miss out on Resident Evil 4, God of War, GT4/Forza, never mind how the new handhelds are building up.
The Xbox360 will have a VGA output adapter too, that's been shown already. Nintendo have also announced a good while ago that the Revolution will have VGA output, but they haven't re-confirmed it recently.
That is all utter bullshit. Are you sure you weren't on OS9? Seriously, all of those things are absolutely exemplary on OS X and I'd hold it up as a shining example of how it should be done because it's better and more compatible than any other solution out there.
Sure, but most people are missing a very important point. Rockstar are absolute geniuses at putting something like this in and getting it hitting the headlines.
I totally agree, but sadly now you'll get a bunch of stories about people who installed Ubuntu on their sisters' friends laptop and how it only took a couple of hours to get everything working just fine (apart from CPU throttling)! The irony is palpable.
err... thanks for the moderation chaps, but I was serious. I don't think that this is particularly groundbreaking news, so I'm having a hard time believing that someone would actually make it up. Nintendo know how to make a quick buck, and rebranding a usb wi-fi adapter, adding some simply uncomplex software and sticking a nice markup on it seems a very obvious thing for them to do.

They will probably save money compared to powering and cooling the equivalent disk array.
Or by online gamers do they include Silver members downloading something?

This article is dumb. Apple are and always have been a hardware company, this article plainly ignores that fact.
If the controls felt like a 2D platformer, then I think your joypad is probably faulty.
More depth is boring? Aw :(
Weird, I found Nintendo least fun this time round. Waiting for games to trickle out isn't my idea of fun.
DRM could be put to valid uses, such as stopping first posters...

The waiting list for a Ferrari is months or years!
I think he's kissing someone whilst wearing opera glasses.

The upshot? Anyone want to buy a Radeon 9800 Pro?

Will pincounts be the new megahurtz?

Or rather, Windows is easier to use, so may include more incompetents.

Just one look at the article submitter's e-mail address should tell you what's behind this. Lies and FUD.
True. ".wap" would have been far too obvious for these people, no doubt.

Too boring to be a hoax surely?
Title Case sounds like a butchering of the language.
