I agree that WEP is unneccessary on a game link - and it probably doesn't even apply as this isn't using wi-fi. However it won't gobble up CPU power because in this case (and indeed 99% of adaptors 'out there') it's handled by logic on the card itself.
My experience of Jabber servers is that they're pretty resource intensive, and a little difficult to manage. I'm not sure if this has changed, but it's something of a stumbling block. As a friend of mine said, it's a shame someone like Apple didn't adopt Jabber. I believe all it needs is someone with a bit of influence behind it.
I've gone back to consoles as most PC games that come out these days are just a fps that is 1% prettier or an add-on pack for 'The Sims'.
I got tired of shelling out for upgrades to get them to run, when the upgrades cost more than the consoles that started tempting me.
I don't think I'll look back for a while now, half-life 2 and doom 3 seem to be the highlights on the horizon; more fps, more power needed to play them. Nothing even remotely diverse. Half of the release list are 6 month late conversions of console games anyway.
One further point to add; (in my experience at least) RAM is just about the only thing that you will possibly see being upgraded in a corporate context. Aside from our big Unix boxes where we may add CPUs, I've never actually seen anyone upgrade a CPU in a server, as it's normally more beneficial to either buy a higher capacity box, or (more frequently, as the application allows) add another machine.
Nice sentiment, but this case isn't about testing the GPL, it's about claims of stolen IP. "Testing the GPL" is bunk because it's a license chosen by the developer, the owner of the code. They can do what they like with it in our (currently) free society.
My 2nd gen iPod does the advertised 10 hours. For the size, this is by far the best battery life I've ever had on a portable player. Way better than my old solid state mp3 players (2-3 hours), and only eclipsed by my sony CD walkman, which had plenty of room for larger batteries (ie. barely portable, certainly not pocketable).
I can't really argue against either of these players, unless you have a mac, in which case the iPod is a no brainer.
Eight hours? I was lucky to get 4-5. Thanks to my new Clie PEG-TG50, now I get *days*. The Zaurus is nice but there are so many forks (offical 2.38, official 3.10, Opie, TKC to name a few) that trying to do anything aside from basic functionality is now a serious headfuck.
It would be nice if one of them got adopted by a major distro so some semblance of standardisation in sync apps as well as pda software itself could be reached.
I'm sticking with Palm for now, especially until bluetooth becomes as easy as it should be on opie.
I'd like to caution slashdot readers to not get sucked in to posting on the tech-report message board. It's the most depressing collection of blinkered rhetoric it's even been my misfortune to stumble upon, and I'd hate to see that kind of lunacy keep people from reading and posting on slashdot itself.
Safari is just about the best browser I've used on any system, just slightly ahead of Mozilla Firebird.
I'm passionate about my hardware.... Apple's laptops are just about the best available IMHO.
Your perverse pride seems to let you ignore facts. Thankfully you've been modded down. I use Apple's because they do exactly what I want to do, and they do it without any headaches. I spent too much time mucking about with benchmarks and waiting for new software releases on x86 and I'll never go back to that.

-5 pedantic guff.

However I'll never use qmail. It's the work of pure evil! If the onion said it was written by aliens I'd believe them!
No no. Exim for me.
Are local PABX's taxed out there?
Agreed. He just appears ungrateful and contradictory. If he wasn't such a crazy zealot then it wouldn't be so easy to dismiss his rants out of hand.
So install the BSD tools instead ;)

Try cost. Seen the price of 2.5" hard drives recently?
iPod hard drives are 1.8".... which is why the iPod is not at least 2.5" wide ;)

Wouldn't we just be better off with all these companies putting this money into Linux instead of lawsuits?

You also engage in false identities and making up stories based on those false identities. I should imagine that's very relaxing too!

You misspelled 'EVAR'.
Unfortunately, flightgear seems to be years behind X-Plane and falling away.
Because I only care about the film, and I want to see it on DVD ASAP. Fall for the pointless extras later if you want, but I won't.
Hmm.... I hadn't seen those outlook 2003 screenshots. They seem horribly wasteful of screen real estate.
Because everyone uses their Linux machine to serve 100 X clients don't they?
