This is off-topic BUT I was talking to a former commercial pilot and somehow we got onto the topic of driving in traffic (I believe he steered it that way) and you would not believe how touchy this guy was about signaling. I don't know if it's the way most pilots feel but he was very, very adamant about the importance of proper signaling whenever a lane change was going to happen. A bit odd since airplanes don't have blinkers...

Anyway, they should add a little extra to that game where you can see how the passangers are doing. Make a nose dive and see if you can get that drunk fat guy to fall down and throw up. Or perhaps make an unscheduled landing in Vegas and pick up some hookers - tempt that priest in 4A with her - see what happens. And of course, they could add the obligatory terrorist where the game turns into Double Dragon for a bit of time.

Silly me - I played Contra with a friend - and thus violated your law and engaged in multiplayer gaming on a console.

I realize you meant online gaming but the fact that you call it "me too!" mode, says a lot about your bias. Computers had communication ports. They had built in hardware for communication with other computers over some type of line. Consoles, always sold within a slim profit margin, did not have this hardware.

If an overweight person invests an hour and a half a week in cardiovascular exercise, stops snacking (that'll lower the fatties' food bills), and cuts their meal portions by 1/3 - they will lose weight in 95% of all cases. But do they do that? No, of course not. Stop making excuses for the fatties and start blaming them.

It's not the type of homebrew solution that you find for getting Linux onto the XBox. The Linux kit for the PS2 is a hard drive and Linux distribution sold by Sony and supported by Sony. Your proclamation that "There are probably more people today who believe the Earth is flat (E.G. the Flat Earth Society), then there have ever been." is not a useful statement since the planet is more heavily populated today. I believe that as a percentage, more people believed that the Earth was flat 1,000 years ago. You mention church elders and scientists as knowing that the Earth was not flat. But your average peasant working in a field probably believed that the Earth was flat based purely on their own involvement and looking at it. Let's remember that there was a much larger gap between the educated classes and those who toiled in the fields. I'm surprised that you can infer from the fact that scientists and church elders knew the Earth was not flat, that means "everyone knew it was round." Please offer some evidence of this.

As it stands, my argument is much more reasonable. The majority of people were uneducated people who toiled in the fields and probably held similar views about the Earth as the Native Americans did - who we know thought the Earth was a large turtle's back and therefore flat. Don't be so quick to make sweeping generalizations like "everyone knew it was round" in the future. Also realize that comparing raw numbers between time periods is normally not of any actual value and more of a sad defense of a weak argument than anything else.
