You mean I not only get to smoke pot, enjoy less crime, and get free healthcare, I get my civil liberties too!!!!

  2. Success??? on Congress to Make PATRIOT Act Permanent · · Score: 2, Insightful

So we've had the patriot act for about a year and a half now. The best justification I read in the article was that it MIGHT have "allowed the F.B.I. to get a warrant against Zacarias Moussaoui." There's a big difference between MIGHT have and definately would have.

Somehow I don't feel any safer.

  3. Method of enforcement on Have You Really Read Your ISP's TOS? · · Score: 1, Funny

XTRA enforces their policies by setting the evil bit on TCP packets it deems inappropriate. Hackers are circumventing this by using the carrier pigeon protocol

What about the highly prestegious manufacturer of my reciever? Everyone knows KLH is where it's at. Seriously though, this thing powers my computer speakers. I paid $70 for it. It works. I use it for a stereo as well. BTW, 10 years from now you'll be rushing to copy those cd's that fit in your 50 disk changer to whatever new audio format comes out

Is this some sort of palladium for linux? Does the Foreman iGrill set an evil bit? Which toe is the evil bit for the Carrier pigeon protocol? Is an evil bit a tab or a space in whitespace?

  7. Bad Press on Germany Places Command & Conquer on Restricted List · · Score: 1

I can't remember the saying exactly, but it goes along the lines that there is no such thing as bad press. I have to wonder if Germany isn't inadvertantly encouraging sales by restricting advertising.

People will always want what they are not supposed to have

I noticed the New York Times website no longer prompts you for registration. At least for the time being. Maybe this has something to do with why. Or maybe their tracking system doesn't need to know that everyone reads stories on the war

  9. wasted time on A 3D Animation of Kernel Source Development · · Score: -1, Redundant

I can't help but think that the time spent on this project would have been better spent contributing to linux. Talk about slow news day. This was almost as bad as the pancake formula

  10. space probes on Jupiter's "Mini-Me" Solar System Grows · · Score: 1

I remember a couple of days in a comment that Bush approved funding for a NASA project that focused on a new form of propulsion in order shorted space travel times. http://www.space.com/businesstechnology/nuclear_po wer_030117.html (Sorry I don't know how to do a link). Anyway, my thought is develop this and use it to propel a probe to get out to jupiter and see exactly what is going on. And, of course, send people to mars :)

  11. but how long will they last? on Toshiba To Show Laptop Fuel Cells at CeBit · · Score: 5, Insightful

My question is, how long will the battery hold up? I don't mean a single charge, I mean how long will the battery be usuable. Also, it states at the end of the article it will take 2-3 years to get to market. It's amazing that the poster of this story can't even read the article
