I remove it from Dell computers all the time. If the AV services are running the uninstall will warn you they need to be stopped prior to uninstallation.
I do take your point. But this only solves the problem for documents I control. Others in the org have no idea what filesystem permissions are, even though they may be Excel black belts.
Will do. (i.e. Stay with MS Office) I was gung ho to personally switch to OOo as a prelude to saving the company a bunch of licensing money, when I discovered I couldn't save an OOo doc in MS format as 'read only'. Major show stopper! Without that it ain't (can't) gonna happen.
I don't know how 'privileged' I am, but as soon as I send out my invites I get more, so they are ramping up the beta. I get more than I can give to people I know.
If you want one, I have 11 to give away right now. Let me know.

I will NEVER click on a link in a/. post again. Poor lad.
If you read further on his site, on August 25th, he posted;
The Atheneum has just now posted a policy stating that the wifi connection is available only between a half-hour after they open to a half-hour before they close, on days that they're open. The stated reasonn is "for better maintenance and operation."
Case closed.
FWIW I think the cop was in the wrong, and AKMA did the right thing by not causing a fuss.
Task Manager is configurable, and this behaviour is normal. If you double click on the empty area to right of the tabs, the tabs, menus, and title will dissapear. Double clicking at the top of the window, above the column headers, will restore Taskbar to it's usual appearance.
I doubt any malware did this.
I think we may be talking about two different things. Once you check for updates a notification icon appears in the Status bar. What I was referring to was how to get rid of that icon. This doesn't mean this is the simplest solution, only that it was the only one I could find.
Specifically... Browse to 'about:config'. In the filter box type 'update'. Double click 'update.app.updatesAvailable' and change the value from 'true' to false. Restart Browser.
I use it for 'cloning' Windows system (much like Ghost). I use included partimage to save a drive image to our network, and then restore it to a similar box.
It duplicates an iPhone feature! How did it get through the approval process?

That would work for 'Word' docs, but not very useful for spreadsheets I control that others need access to.

I thought the radio series predated the books?
'Nuff said! Did anything interesting happen today?

etc is the problem. As soon as they go to a site that requires an unanticipated plugin the phone will ring for more free support.
Let 'em rot I say. Leave 'em on IE and WE can reclaim the 'net!
I tried - it bounced. Not very (.com) obvious.
You supply email address - I send invite.
Mod points where art thou? Or are you just being sarcastic?

I don't do IM so you'll have to do better than that.
Hint - email.
Obfusticate if you wish
Two left!
OT but...
I have Gmail invites for the first 3 replies.

I have only had this problem with Firebird. IE works fine.
What the heck are 'repercutions'?
'repercussions' perhaps?
Pedantically yours.
I can garantee you that for most Windows applications I can find at least one Open Source application to match it in terms of usability
How about Outlook with Exchange Server?
