A great many extremely talented artists have spent their whole career with Photoshop. I can think of no other software with such an insurmountable market share.
The generalist's approach is interesting, but there you have no edge. They expect years of experience in that language to get a good-paying job. However, if you go with a new language like Ruby on Rails, you'll find job ads seeking programmers with 5 years of experience when it's only been around for 3 years! So, it might be more interesting to pick an up-and-coming language like Ruby on Rails, if you want the maximum effect to your salary based on the time invested in learning the language.
My girlfriend made up a pledgebank issue on this topic, so I'd recommend you sign it if you agree that fingerprinting foreign tourists in the USA is wrong:
I personally found it quite degrading when I travel with her to the US (she's German and I'm American living in Germany), so I go through the same line with her. I also found it degrading when I went to Japan, but unless we actually do something about it instead of just complaining, we're not going to make a difference!
I think the only thing I use Yahoo for anymore is Yahoo Groups. I hate them. Absolutely hate them. But you can't get thousands of people to switch over to Google groups...
Inmate: What you in for?
Preacher: I showed the Super Bowl on a 56" screen to my congregation!
Inmates: Oh man, he went up against the NFL, better not mess with him...
So this is so ridiculous, I would say churches should just go ahead and show the Super Bowl on their big screen. I'd like to see the public's outrage if this ever really went to court...
It seems like the smartest thing would be to use one PC and two monitors. Monitors aren't that expensive compared to PCs, especially for an office environment (i.e. not flat-screen). For most office applications, the PCs are so fast they could easily handle two employees and their monitors, but computer companies make you buy more power, because they can. I mean, I can run Joost on my TV while I surf the web and play online poker on my Macbook monitor, so it seems like this would be a great solution for employees who don't need much processing power.
A woman is a female human. The term woman (irregular plural: women) usually is used for an adult, with the term girl being the usual term for a female child or adolescent. However, the term woman is also sometimes used to identify a female human, regardless of age, as in phrases such as "Women's rights".

I would disagree. I've had a Macbook for one and a half months now and the only thing that really pisses me off about it is having to Ctrl-Click to get a right mouse button when I don't have a real mouse connected. I used to be ok with using just a trackpad on Windows, but it frustrated me so much on Mac, that I had to buy a mouse to get that right click again. This brings me back to the age old adage:
Mac user: "Just tell me one thing you can do on your PC that I can't do on my Mac!" PC user: "Right click."
Doh. I hope Apple someday wakes up and introduces a right mouse button on the laptop. It especially frustrates my friends who use my computer and are not used to Mac. "Um, hey, how do I right click?" Ugh. So, for those die hards who don't see a need for a right mouse button, I'd say Apple should include it and you could then configure the right trackpad button to act just like the left one... Problem solved.
If just the results of a nicely designed website is what you're looking for, you might want to consider using a CMS like Drupal. This way you can stay in your programming world and do everything by configuring the code and then just choose a nice theme to go along with it. Then, if you still want to work on the design, you can just tweak the theme.

I thought the whole point of txt messaging was to send a message without interrupting your recipient and to save money instead of making expensive international cell phone calls.
Did anyone else see this headline and think it was talking about some bar-room brawl aimed at lawyers...
I thought for sure it was about bar owners tired of lawyers blogging in their bars without drinking enough beer. Starbucks will certainly be next to crack down...
How about Microsoft Office??

And Facebook is the new Google.

Now I wonder how many students will just read the cached versions of Wikipedia articles on Google...
Correction: Now all he needs is a couch with a built-in remote-controlled toilet!
So then, you could write that his lawsuits against Wikipedia have more than tripled in the last six months!

How about the FCC making Skype open their protocol in exchange? This would be fair, right? :)
Oh, is that the name of Apple's next product?

It would be Deutsche Mail, like Deutsche Bahn (German train) and Deutsche Telekom.

Ok, found one:

But, is that Opera running on the system or another browser?
Seems like there should be a program to be able to convert sheet music to mp3 or ogg files. This is technically possible, isn't it?
Damn, I kept reading Viagra.
This is Slashdot. Slashdotters almost never read the article.
Ummm, don't you mean how many posters per comment?
