ah, yes! prop 65. As a teacher I once had (in an environmental law class) once said about prop 65, "it's ok to poision people if you warn them about it"
So wherver you go, you see prop 65 warnings. It's kinda funny actually. You go to a new car dealership, you'll see a prop65 warning sign hanging somewhere (out of sight), or grocery stores warning you stuff inside the store may harm you.
Really, everyone buys a car, everyone shops at grocery stores. So what's the point of these warnings?
bandwidth? not really. I mean, you're buying a 3 meg connection, but reality is that it sits idle most of the time. If you script your send/fetch web stuff, even dialup is no problem (unless you're doing something stupid like downloading videos.) As for latency, it's a matter of how fast I can get the script to send/receive what I need. Once that's done, it's almost instantenous between the router and the dot matrix printer (monitors cause cancer and LCDs don't have enough contrast).
And scripting language? I don't know. I'm just someone parinoid of the outside world. go ask the guys who wrote Interweb interface.

I use the router to interface with the interweb for what I need.
Firstly, I script what I want the router to send/get. then I disconnect my computer, connect the wAN side of the router to the interweb. When the script is done, I disconnect the WAN side of the router, connect my computer to the router and copy off the router HDD. Sure it's a pain in the butt, but what am I to do? live without the interweb?

Eric, Even if you bought an assload of books/movies, it's only worth 80 bucks/yr if each one is shipped independently. Otherwise, just have them box it into one box and you get free shipping and save 80 bucks/year (unless you are on the trial period for prime).
I had a prime trail for 3 months. In the end, I decided it wasn't worth 80/year. Most of my orders from amazon are for stuff I don't need immedietly. And if I need something bad enough, I'd get it from the local store. Same day, not 2 days later (or next day for 5 extra dollars).
I view prime as a gimmack to make you think "I must shop exclusively at amazon else I 'waste' my prime membership. Most of the time I get stuff from amazon within 2-3 days anyway. I'm sure the bean counters figured it doesn't cost them much more to ship things 2nd day, and it's all about perception to the customer.
As for 3rd party merchants, one reason I don't shop with them/ebay is the high s/h charges. I'm sorry, but if I'm going to pay 5 bucks for shipping a 10 dollar (used) item, I'd rather get a new one from a real store today.
If my memory serves me right, amazon.com "free" shipping is by USPS. With Prime (like 80 bucks a year) it's shipped ups 2nd day (or ground if you're close enough to the warehouse it came from). but seriously, how many people fork up 80 bucks a year for prime?
Interesting. I interperted the letter as you had to buy a new phone, and I imagined being charged full price (atleast 30 bucks because that's what a prepaid phone goes for) and getting a 5 dollar credit. but in thiis case, the cust comes out 4.99 ahead, which isn't that bad for them I guess.
ON the battery, it's probably more conservative with bringing the CPU to full speed, and when plugged in, give it max performance because battery life is not worried about.
Also when plugged in, the charging circuitry and battery charge are probably working hard to charge the battery.

Humm, considering everything is now PCIe, with 2.5 gigs of bandwidth either way it doesn't look too bad- considering the therotecial bandwidth of ram in most machines is in the 2-4 gig range anyway.
So if there isn't much happening on the graphics end of things, allocate some ram on the graphics board as swap space for the machine. However, when you fire up a game or something, have fun waiting while everything in graphics ram is swapped to hdd.
And...with a warranty set at say 40k, your chance of failure is very small. As you extend the warranty out, the chance of failure increases, but so does the reasons to void the warranty.
For example, the transmision dies at 70k. You take it into the stealer for them to fix it. Well sir, you should have had the trans flushed every 30k. Because you failed to do so, at 30k and 60k, you have no warranty. (hypothetical of course)
Yippie for a longer warranty? No, it's statistics majors, accountants and marketing dept pumping you for all you're worth.

As the other posted, or try quicktime alternative.
It's a plugin for "regular" players. Light weight and works well.

Yes, I have a question.
Is that a 5 dollar one time credit, or is it reapplied monthly to all future bills?
Secondly, how much is a new phone? And can these phones be used as a gps for getting long/lat coordinates?

One more thing about outlook.
It syncs with my pocket pc which is my calendar, address book, cell phone, etc.
Amazon is obvious to the customer about it. OTOH, these stores are doing it without the cust knowing.

How bout barter with beef then?
Right now, corned beef is going for 70-90 cents/pound. Stock up now and go shopping when it's back up to 1.50 to 2 dollars/pound.
Remember kiddies. Buy low, barter high.
