Yes, GSM is getting a foothold in the US market. I myself have been with Cingular/ATT (both GSM) for almost 5 years now.
Like CDMA carriers, GSM isn't problem free.
For example, if you buy a GSM phone, it is most likely locked to the carrier you bought it from. Why do they do this? Because most phones are either "free" or "discountted" with the signing of a contract.
Now, I figure they lock phones for 3 purposes: 1. If your family member destroys their phone somehow, your "locked" phone won't work because they have a different carrier. Thus, they'll be forced to buy a new phone. 2. So you can pay their roaming/international charges when you travel (because a locally bought SIM doesn't work on the locked phone). 3. Profit!
Thankfully, unlock codes/reflashing can easily be done if you know where to find a code calculator, or willing to buy a $10 data cable.
Grump Unlocked Siemens S40, Mot V400. Unlocked half my family's nokia phones.
Tier 1 would be buy before you view: Say 3.95 for the PPV, and if you preorder the DVD you get both for 14.95. (Just hit up movies.yahoo or imdb to find out how others like it)
If you chose to purchase the DVD after viewing, then you pay teh 16.95 price.
This way, they have the ability to sucker you into buying a DVD for a movie that SUCKS, but you didn't know that till after you viewed it. Or if you liked the movie alot, you get to buy it, at a premeum b/c you failed to preorder.
In order to reduce a significant source of piracy, Microsoft has disabled online activation for COA Keys that are attached to PCs that have been pre-activated by OEMs. This change should have a minimal impact on licensed users who generally do not use their COA Key to activate the software because it has been pre-activated by the OEM. However, if a licensed end user needs to activate because the OEM pre-activation does not work as expected (e.g., after the replacement of a defective motherboard) they can do so via phone-based activation.
You were asked a key because the bios did not match what the XP installer was expecting.
When you activated, MS saw that the copy hadn't been activated with them before. MS however has now closed the loophole for activating oem copies over the internet.
The first time was at my uncle's house, where he had the day's newspaper laying around. There was an article about Rome, and it said Rome wasn't that great.
The second time was when my friend came over and was channel surfing. Came accross Rome. He watched it and said it wasn't worth watching another ep.
The third time was just now. And I'll most definately not bother watching Rome now!
if you really hate tablets, get a real filter. sure it costs a good chunk of change, but I've talked with hardcore hikers and they swear by their filter.
For me, I don't hike enough (heak I stoped ever since my JR year of college), but I just brought about 2 gal of water and it's good nuf for half done wiht pleanty to spare.
Tip: Put a gallon jug about 2/3 full into the freezer a day before departing for a long day hike. The best ice water you've ever drank!
However, TFA only talks about piping the exhaust through a cat and 6 proprietary filters - making it comparable to tap water.
Potable water is essentail for life. However, it doesn't mean there aren't nasties in it still. Fore example, the city water I get is primairly ground water (95%). This water has uranium in it. If this water was piped directly into homes/businesses, it would be approaching acceptable limits. So what is done about the uranium? Dilute it down with mountain runoff!
So just because it's comparable to tap doesn't mean it's all roses and baby farts.
Yep, ozone. The ozone attacks the C=C bond (found in rubber). I go to school in Riverside, CA. My parents live 400 miles in San Jose.
Riverside has much higher ozone (due to many environmental factors), but I have to replace the wipers on my car more often than I do on my mom/dad's b/c of the ozone.
Take me for example. I have a PS2 and I've played a grand total of oh...30 hours on it in the past 2 years i've had it. But then, I went off to school and didn't want it with me so I gave it to my little cousin (on the condiditon he would be responsible with it and I wouldn't get in trouble over giving it to him).
That's what they say to make you to sign up in the first place. Actually what Cingular told my dad in 2002 when he renewed his contract and got a simens s40 for "cheap". We were told to call cust sevice after a min of 6 months of having the phone for an unlock code.
Well, after 18 months, the occasion for travel came up. I called up Cingular cust service and was told they don't give out unlock codes anymore. I talk to the supervisor and he says the same. I explain to him that we were cingular cust for ~3 years. When we bought this phone, we were told to call cust service after a min of 6 months for the unlock code. We bought this phone for the specefic purpose of it being a world phone and being able to go to another country and pop a sim card in it. If we couldn't use it as advertised, what was the point of this phone in the first place?
Long story short, after much disucssion the rep said he'd contact siemens for the unlock code.
In the future, just buy an unlocked phone or search for an unlock code calculator.
I'm about a year from getting a BS in environmental sci, and here's my 2 cents on the topic of ionic breeze filtration systems.
mmmm...ozone. Can't live without it, but let's not live with it aroun us. When ozone is up in the stratosphere, it's blocking out the UV rays and saving our hides from skin cancer. But when it's "down here", it's harmful to us. These ionic filters create ozone. Long term/high concentration exposure to ozone is believed to cause cancer. Ozone in the air we breathe is important enough that there are standards on acceptable limits. http://www.epa.gov/air/criteria.html
I don't think ionic breeze can generate high concentrations of ozone, but you'll be exposed to it 24/7 which isn't good either.
And here's my personal experience with ionic breeze filters. Well, My uncle bought a few of these to put around his house while he was remodeling. He commented to me how wonderful they were b/c they would "pull" dust out of the air and onto the collection plates.
He loved them so much that he even stuck one in my parent's bedroom. My dad complained of breating problems soon after it was put there. I told him to turn it off, and turning it off solved his problems.
So, as another posted, get something with a real filter.
Anyway, if you figure out how to get listings working, can you drop a comment in my livejournal- just leave a comment on any entry i made. (http://livejournal.com/users/fgrump123).
about my internet'tv situation: I'm a UCR (riverside) student and I live in a student housing complex. My services are provided by ygnition (ygniton.com). When I moved in, they only said to plug into the walljack, phone service would be turned on in a day or 2 and tv should be working. No NAT or proxies.
Been here for a week, the complex is supposed to house 500 students, but right now there are only about 100-150 people. So bandwidth is pleanty and life is good (other than having to live on a construction site for the past week, but the work crews are gone now).
I hope CCI is this good to you!
Now it's just a matter of waiting for classes to start on wed.
please tell some dish horror stories. I just moved into an apt complex that offers "basic cable" but it's really repackaged directv. So far, the only problems I have are channel repeats, and last night a few channels had the "technical difficulities" screen.
whats 300 bucks now if you lose your hearing tomorrow? 300 bucks is peanuts compared to hearing aids and doctor appointments, etc etc. trust me, i used to have a friend who was hard of hearing. (he got it when he was a kid and had a high fever, but my point still holds).
As for the world getting noiser, yes it is. Cars with farting cans of bumble bees, increasing amounts of traffic, hvac, and more and more electronics/gadgets.
go away to a national park for a week and come back to a major city. holy moly you'll go crazy.

We all know vehicle exhaust is pretty nasty.
Anyone know how the filtration system performs in regards to removing exhaust toxins(benzene, sulfates, etc)?

Try using the wireless config utility that came with the nic instead.
Network connections -> click on the wlan nic-> properties->wirless networks->(uncheck) Use Windows to configure my wireless network settings.
Then go install the w2k drivers/config utility and use that for wireless config instead of the windows wireless netowrk wizard.

That's too much fuss! Do this instead:
1. Take an old 486 and install weatherbug on it.
2. Setup webacam to take pics off the 486's monitor.
3. Serve webcam pics.
