You seem to have an unswerving faith in the contents of Wikipedia. I suggest buying a "dictionary" instead. You can get them in ebook form these days - Well, at least until Amazon figures out that they contain incest.
Interestingly, these routers (specifically the WNR854T) when they die are not completely dead.
The symptom I have seen on both of the units I had is loss of functionality, followed by "dim" blinking lights.
This is caused in my case by the on-PCB 5v supply failing - It outputs about 4v. Since the 3.3v is derived from the 5v line, the CPU is also affected. It appears to be the SMPSU chip itsself that fails - Paralleling a working 5v supply onto the 5v line works.
Given the titular statement, why does Linux not win?
One of the main reasons that Windows remains popular is because it's well known and people are used to it.
In this case, I'm misstating the phrase. The realistic version would be "It's hard to compete with stolen". Many home users that I know assume Windows is a right. If a person in IT hasn't been asked by someone for a license key for Windows, I would consider that unusual.
Which makes Linux a poor third choice, which a majority of people wouldn't even consider if they knew it was available.
It's another tool in the toolbox. However, the results are not necessarily easy to understand or simple to fix. For example, see the recent SSL library issue - Which exhibited minimal randomness due to someone "fixing" an (intended) uninitialized memory area.
Just in case you hadn't guessed (which it appears that the meeedia has not) - This Is A Trojan. Which means that it's Powered By Stupid People (tm). A worm would be Powered By Stupid Programmers (tm).
The Storm Worm is in fact already defined - It was an IIS worm. Please, feel free to look at the reputable AV lists.
I don't know which Myth you're using, but the one available from mythtv.org only uses blank frames, scene change detection and logo detection. Audio and subtitles (closed captioning) are not currently used.
And this is the problem with some students today. "rewriting it in your own words" does NOT mean taking every fourth word and plugging it into a thesaurus.
Read and understand a paragraph. Or sentence at a bare minimum. Now, without looking at the original text, write the bare meaning of the section, without any fluff around it.
Repeat this for all of the text. Now, again, without referring back and edit it to make a cohesive whole.
It's not an easy skill to learn, but it is one that will stand you in good stead in the future.
A transformer is basically two lengths of wire running alongside each other for a long distance. If you run a low voltage circuit next to mains cable, you can potentially (in the case of a loop) create dangerous inductive heating in the low voltage cable - Not to mention the problems of the induced voltage in whatever equipment is connected to it.

"modded PS3s"?
Uhm... There are no modded PS3s at this time.

Whoooosh!
Bah humbug. I can't see how to PM @ /. - So I'll just reply here.
BSD appears to be different, but on most unices http://www.bpfh.net/simes/computing/chroot-break.html
If you think jail is secure, you really need to not be working in the security field.
Accidentally?
There's two possible comments to this. Firstly, if Sony says "never", it is usually true.
Secondly, of course it's bull - Have you seen the vitriol from TheInq every time NVidia is even mentioned?
With that level of hate, it's like NVidia killed their whole family then ate them at a public function.
Really? http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc758834.aspx
Nice way to empathize, /. submitter.
It's not "moving the head to prevent wear". It's SMART data gathering. smartctl will soon sort you out. However, I would personally not recommend it.
smartctl --smart=on --offlineauto=off
80w for the PC, 20w for an LCD, 80w for a CRT.
WTF is with this stupid meme?
Is the other spider suspiciously... Larger?
Until you upgrade your firmware to >= 2.10. At which point this hack has been closed. Thanks, Sony!

Pictures? This isn't the eighties any more. Videos!
Look closer at the text. It looks like the device reads *facial expressions* through pointed sensors touching the skin. Yay. That sounds comfortable.
Why? Because AV vendors want your money.
With a whitelist, the user clicks 'Accept' for everything he runs. Then he's protected until he installs something else.
Blacklists are great since they require yearly subscriptions.

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Used in tunnels in Europe for cell phone coverage.
No, there is a good reason behind this.
