This babysitting by the courts for corporate welfare is just over the line. I don't know why I'm so outraged by the very idea of this, but I am.
i agree, and i know why i find it outrageous : because it's a problem with brands, logo, corporate identities, all things that have absolutely no interest nor real value but that corporate and marketing types get all nervous over, mainly due to lack of brains and fear of losing power.
It's even worse since in some famous cases ( like the french danone boycott website briefly described in english here ) they use IP law to fight against those who critic their abuse.
They can't fight over what is said so they will claim that their logo was stolen ! Wimps !
In the case of tolkien it seems more normal, though. I mean, it's not only about money and rights but also about a work of art that should be preserved from vultures.
Oh thank you, now i can go back to driving my S.U.V, leave the lights on all day round, eat more meat products and alltogether act like an overfed energy wasting pig.
Google references say it can't have environemental impact.
... with bad command completion and next thing you know there's a wall message on all machines nationwide warning for immediate database shutdown ! I hit ctrl-c fast enough tho... it was my 2nd day on duty and got a LOT of phone calls:| live & learn.
Now, the time it takes to ACKNOWLEDGE a bug is a different story....
oh no, not really. It's just some time taken for coding and testing without telling anybody so that in the end, it looks like it took less time to patch !
Yeah well, bycicle lanes in Paris are really under developped. It's pretty sad to see and although it is slowly changing i wouldn't brag about it.
There are also far too many fast lanes in the city - generating the strange feeling that you live close to a freeway - and it's in all aspects a city crawling under cars, noise and the power of gazoline.
Public transportations are going to the dogs and on the brink of being privatised, which will certainly not arrange things. There is certainly no compartiments for bikes inside the inner city trains. Biking in Paris is like hell, i do it anyway but it's not very funny, cab drivers hate you and the cops will arrest you for "riding a bike on the sidewalks".
So yeah, there's a rollerblade marathon, but that's about all there is.
She speaks the truth.
The fact that you don't want to hear it is another problem, probably linked to the fact that you profit from what she condemns.
These "she don't live in India" will not stand against any analysis of what she says and you know it.
I wouldn't be so hasty as calling india a democracy. many voices, like ArundhatiRoy for instance, speak out to say that it's more like an oligarchy with a parade of democracy to cover religious intolerance & corporate maxi profits.
Then again i wouldn't call the USA a democracy so maybe i'm giving this word a strongest sense that it actually has nowadays.
As you may have learn from the article you and others sedentarian types like you belong to the past.
As time go by you will slowly be replaced by a new specie, one that's always on the move, doesn't need a "cubicle" and talks loud on the phone, even when surounded by working people.
We are not quite sure if it's good or not for the humans kind, although it seems obvious that the overall quality of work is likely to go down with this new specie at the control. But there's nothing we can do, "the market" is a natural force we cannot oppose.

i don't think so : fox news just pays for the right to broadcast and stuff like that , but the characters are a property of matt groening. And the team that make the cartoon is an independant company as well. Or something like that.
In my 4 years of system administration i've already seen many places where raid was not common, ie only for important data (they don't have enough money it seems...)
I've also seen blatantly out of date "backup" procedures.
And i've seen IBM ssa disks diying at an awfull rate. And useless corrupted mirrors.
So i'd say disk failure is quite an important data loss cause.
i never even seen one of those map ! i've seen one of montpellier, but they are all very rare since they were printed in low quantities and got trendy fast. they are supposed to be on sale in one very expensive arty shop in paris but i doubt it's even worth a try there... the guy that does the invaders is actually very nice guy and you can see him sometimes in the city, that is when he's not roaming the world thanks to his own success !
yep, and these are GREAT !! In Paris they are all around town, some very big ones, some destroyed, some hidden, always watching you with a pixelish smile... it's a good omen to see one:)
The same for the british rail : it worked perfectly. deregulation came in and it went down in flames, late trains, dirty wagons, and dead peoples in accidents : you need to take care of the infrastructure, you need to plan for the future, and keep the whole engine running smooth.
You can't do that if you have to keep an eye on your competitors and keep lowering the prices some more, and fire those expansive workers.
forget what you've been told : open your eyes and think.
25 ?

No, i don't believe so. She's more like anti stupidity. But i won't troll along, as we have names for people like you.

ah ah ah this is soo wrong ! one would think that fixing the power grid should be the first to do !
the radio is ok but :
Convertion of a 1996 Silicon Graphics O2 workstation to a gaming PC.
that's quite a stupid thing to do
there are far too many useless, egotistical homepages.

all this exeptional "personal web pages" material should be saved for later genrations.

well, in real life the google toolbar is more like just another useless gizmo. By no mean an "extremly usefull tool" ...

you calif' people should vote for the T.S.O.L. guy . It's the only *real* alternative, and it's a fun thing to do. Think about it !
if elections changed anything, they'd be illegal.
