This seriousely does not suprise me at all. In a recent issue of Popular Mechanics magazine (October 2010 issue) they had an excellent article on just how bad BP blew it in the gulf of mexico. Everything from turning off and disabling safety systems and alarms, to rushing the drilling process, using wrong materials, ignoring advice and warnings from others that they were going to fast and ignoring safety, and more.
Oh god indeed, Khan shall come alright with a massive flood of KHAAAAAN quotes and jokes! Better button down the hatches and prepare for the onslaught!:)
Apprantly this looks to be like the RIAA's "wet dream" of how to punish the oh so evil downloaders.... and while they may try to pull this crap in the USA, what about people all around the world who might have downloaded this? Seems to me like these guys have no clue about how the internet and torrents work, and how they actually would enforce people to literally delete all copies of this movie.. What, would they send RIAA thugs to every home and hold a gun to a persons head and watch while they delete "The Hurt locker"?
I've been using Firefox for the last eight years now and I intend to stick with this browser for the forseeable future. It is vastly superior in all ways to every other browser out there, and with addon's such as Adblock Plus, Noscript, and Cookie Monster, it makes browsing websites far more enjoyable, and far less dangerous as well.
If someone thinks Firefox is bloated, they are welcome to try alternatives such as K-Melon.
In 2009, $142 million was reimbursed to victims of fraud as a result of debit card skimming. Victims of debit card fraud are protected and will not suffer any financial losses resulting from circumstances beyond their control.
While debit card fraud represents a fraction of one percent of all transactions, Interac Association takes significant steps to prevent debit card fraud and protect cardholders. Interac Association works together with members and business partners to ensure that the Interac services remain among the most secure in the world. Following are some of the initiatives that Interac Association is involved with.
I have been a gamer since I was a teenager in the late 80's, and I'm very much used to downloading demo's for free, for the rare times I actually DID download game demo's but instead read tons of reviews and what have you until I got a game. I would not pay money for demo software, because then if it is a crappy game or something I did not like, I would be complaining I wasted a good $15 bucks on a crappy demo, when I could have went and bought lunch somewhere instead!:D
I see this as another money making ploy by Electronic Art's and for the fanboys to throw away money at demo's.
This is a horrible idea! I've been playing game demos since the early 90's and now to possibly see sony's "invention" of demo's that start losing features or taking your progress away, all in the hopes we will be mindless sheep and say "OMG I MUST BUY THE FULL VERSION NOW" are sadly mistaken.
I would be rather pissed off at a demo doing this, and I would not "pony up" my hard earned cash to get a full version, especially when Sony has a bad track record with software as well, remember the whole rootkit idea they dreamed up a few years back?
Obviousely Saskatchewan, Canada didnt see this study, because as of January 1st 2010 SGI (the provincial insurance company) put into effect a law against texting or talking on a cell phone with fines as high as $300 CDN and points taken off your license. And yet, I still see plenty of people texting or talking on the cell when driving.
Yes but gasoline is just as highly flammable and yet you don't see too many cars exploding unless they are in serious accidents where the fuel tank or fuel lines are somehow ruptured and there's a fire going to boot to ignite it. I would also imagine once they refine the technology, they could take precautions to prevent explosions as much as possible.
This is scary indeed when you are under the assumption that you are going into a hospital or clinic for a treatment like this, and assuming he/she is well trained and know what they are doing to your body... to read something like this makes one wonder just what, if any training they get to operate these machines?
How did one guy above me put it... Highly trained morons? I have to agree!!!
I would honestly think a screen larger then 2.5" would be easier on kids learning to read and do math. And besides, from what I have read and heard about how bad funding is for a lot of schools in the USA, chances are this will likely not be seen anytime soon to replace ancient text books.
I would honestly say it depends what kind of work environment you are in. Case in point, I worked in one retail store that had I would estimate about 20-25 terminals throughout the store, and each of them ran from Windows Server 2003. Internet Explorer was of course locked down hardcore to a Symantic Proxy that only allowed you to browse the company website.
However, apparantly this must have annoyed someone because I had noticed Mozilla Firefox was also installed, and the way it was configured to block access like Internet Explorer? Through proxy settings, a simple clearing out of all the proxy fields in Firefox options enabled FULL internet browsing.
Overall it just depends how determined they are to block internet access, and how "tech saavy" they think people will be to get past it.
Once this is done - you can now visit the site using any god damn browser you want. In my case I tested the registration page under Opera, Firefox, and Mozilla, and as far as FEMA site was concerned, this was my user agent.
User-Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1)
So really, I don't know why moronic webmasters, especially for a government or government related site, want to pull shit like this for users whom may not know how to get around "IE only" requirements.
Honestly, Tales Of Symphonia for Gamecube had some of the damn best game music I've heard in a long time. But alas, you won't hear of this game being nominated on TV, and it's no suprise MTV nominated the shit that they did.
Especially since it reminds me of the last time Spike TV had their own video game awards show, which was one hell of a disgrace and aimed at idiot's who don't know better.:p
Ok here's the details of the system in general since this article apparantly doesn't touch on it...
The cool look: The new console boasts high-quality materials and a smart, compact design, approximately the size of three standard DVD cases stacked together. A variety of prototype colors are being showcased during E3. It will come with a silver stand that makes the system a welcome, artistic component of any multimedia setup, whether it's displayed vertically or horizontally.
Backward compatibility: The new console plays all games from the current Nintendo GameCube generation. But there's more...
The secret weapon: The console also will have downloadable access to 20 years of fan-favorite titles originally released for Nintendo 64, the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) and even the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES).
Easy expansion: A bay for an SD memory card will let players expand the internal flash memory.
Two disc formats, one slot: Instead of a tray, a single, innovative, self-loading media bay will play both 12-centimeter optical discs used for the new system as well as Nintendo GameCube discs. Owners will have the option of equipping a small, self-contained attachment to play movies and other DVD content.
The specs: The system boasts 512 megabytes of internal flash memory, wireless controllers, two USB 2.0 ports and built-in Wi-Fi access. A worldwide network of Nintendo players can gather to compete in a comfortable, inviting environment. Revolution's technological heart, a processing chip developed with IBM and code-named "Broadway," and a graphics chip set from ATI code-named "Hollywood," will deliver game experiences not previously possible.
The stars: Introduction of a number of new franchise properties will add to the world's richest stable of stars, including Mario, Zelda, Super Smash Bros., Donkey Kong and Metroid.
Wireless freedom: A number of Wi-Fi-enabled launch titles are in development that will employ Nintendo's newly announced wireless gaming service, Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection. A worldwide network of Nintendo players can gather to compete in a comfortable, inviting environment.
Freedom of design: A dynamic development architecture equally accommodates both big-budget, high-profile game "masterpieces" as well as indie games conceived by individual developers equipped with only a big idea.
"Our next console proves small in size but big on ideas," says Reggie Fils-Aime, Nintendo of America's executive vice president of sales & marketing. "We're throwing open the doors of gaming to wider audiences, from casual players to hard-core gamers who live for the thrill of defeating an endless army of wireless opponents."
Safer? Pfft very unlikely when you look at the sheer number of patches for all versions of Windows and their various software like Internet Explorer, Office Suit, IIS, Outlook, you name it.
Internet explorer especially for being so damn un-secure that spyware authors just love to infect via Internet Explorer if a person doesn't know what he or she is doing (namely most AOL users).
OK, so a girl get's picked on by a bunch of other schoolgirls via IM. What the hell was she doing giving out her IM addy's, whether it be AOL, MSN, ICQ, Yahoo, or whatnot, to begin with in school? That's just as bad as giving out your phone number to all the kid's in school, so one smartass or several smartasses can do prank call's all night long.
One would think that, just as e-mail addresses, you only give it to people you trust, and certainly not to random people. Also makes me wonder if they even knew about the block or ignore feature in several IM clients...

I thought the USA and perhaps other countries had what canada has for pretty much all Debit Cards... Interact

From the first paragraph of that FAQ
What we're doing about fraud
In 2009, $142 million was reimbursed to victims of fraud as a result of debit card skimming. Victims of debit card fraud are protected and will not suffer any financial losses resulting from circumstances beyond their control.

Gotta catch em all.. POKEMON! (Sorry had to say it) :P

Damn they must be slow if it took them three month's to figure it all out.
If you are using Proxomitron and Grypen's Latest Filters for Proxomitron, then this sites "IE only requirement" becomes VERY easy to bypass.
How do you we do this once Proxomitron and Gryphen's filters are installed? Easy! Open up
User - Include - Exclude.txt
Then add the following into this file.
www.fema.gov $SET(keyword=.js.ajs.code.flash.popup.iesite.)
Once this is done - you can now visit the site using any god damn browser you want. In my case I tested the registration page under Opera, Firefox, and Mozilla, and as far as FEMA site was concerned, this was my user agent.

All I can say is use Proxomitron for Windows and Grypen's Proxomitron Filters for effecitve cookie filtering along with a whole whack of other filters for ad's and anything else malicious.

Stupid of Bush to cancel it. Ah well. :p
Using the latest version of Proxomitron + JD5000 filterset (Gryphens actually based off JD5000) right here
http://www.users.on.net/~grypen/Downloads/?M=D
Will 100% kill off those Zophar Domain ad's and popup's/unders with the right filters active.

The GOVERNATOR wants open source alternatives eh?
