But they also won't need that tax money to maintain the system that governs the older phone systems.
Of course, my arguments assumes that almost everyone will switch over to phone calls via the Internet, but their argument also admits that enough people to warrant a change are already doing it.
What's really brilliant about this, is even if they (the people behind this civil disobedience movement) totally lose, get sued/shutdown/jailed/whatever, they still win, because now, this is like the original decss source, everyone has it, it's spreading across the Internet in a multitude of countries, and the message that they are trying to spread will be spread even further and louder.
So congratulations to all the martyrs involved.
The funny thing is, I was just whoring a quick comment to get the first post, and that was the first thing I thought of after reading the article title.
I was watching the Discovery channel, and saw a show about pilot training or something, and it compared the American training sims (with real cockpit controls, digital displays surrounding the pilot, etc) and Soviet ones (where the viewable area around the pilot was broken down into 6 or so sections where the picture on each section was actually printed on a roll, and the rolls would all scroll back and forth with the pilots movements to try and provide a realistic setting for the aircrafts movements).
The show mention that as the Russian technology/funding improved, and they were able to build better simulators, they auctioned off their old ones, many of which went to nations with hand-me-down militaries, like Afghanistan.
Does anyone know what I'm talking about? I'd really like to look into buying one just as a keepsake, although they probably belong in museums =)

I don't the idea of my buddy list being closely examined. What if I have John Doe on my list, who has Omar Gill on his list, who has Osama on his list, the man would say that I've been associating with terrorists.
While the money in this instance is anonymous, is anyone else reminded of those scanners from Minority Report that just "pinged" you as you walk by?
I wouldn't like the idea of being forced to walk around carrying RF-emitting devices. If I wanted to, by all means, but I would rather this not become the norm, personally.
Umm, your book example falls apart...
If you made the book available to the public, why should you go care if someone makes a PDF of it, unless you are selling copies of it.
You didn't have to pay to see the airfares.
If my buddy drives out to the airport, writes down some flight prices, then comes back and tells me the prices, what has he done wrong?
