On the front, you could consider something like a Nokia N800. It could take the place of your MacBook and you can carry it around in your packet. Easy to check email, voip calls, video chat wherever you find WLAN. Also serves as a music player if you get a large SD card.
Your statements are incorrect at so many levels that I don't even know where to begin. Let's try though:
Official National Language: Hindi
Other National Languages: 25
Religions: Everything religion ever practised on Earth because even a minority here is in millions. Ofcourse Hinduism is the dominant religion.
English is a language used only in cities and in some parts of the government. To my European colleagues I explain it thus: Think of the EU as a single country with all your languages, cultures, religions(though they are all based on Christianity), etc. Now mulptiply that problem by 100 and the population by 9 or 10 and that is India.
And its almost funny when you say that a nation with over 5000 years of _written_ history would be eager as a puppy to 'absorb' a 300 year old country's culture and stored-up 'ideas'. Sure, the US media has managed to reach global audiences and create a homogeneous MTV generation. And some of that can be seen in Indian cities. But that is probably
India has assimilated foreign influences over the millenia, not just by copying them, but by choosing what they like in them. That is the only way to survive as a people if you don't want revolution every few hundred years. But the western world may disagree...
Your sense of what newspapers are tabloids and what are not are quite intriguing. So if TOI is worse than a tabloid, exactly which Indian newspaper do you classify as a 'national' newspaper or the 'largest English newspaper in India'?
Only if there was a bonus modifier to allow comments to be marked up more than +5.
I did the same - leave San Diego and move to EU. Company policies are more employee-friendly here - no doubt thanks to workers unions, state benefits, etc. I get 5 weeks vacation, plus travel more of Europe than I would ever do while living in the US. In the past one year, I have worked only two weekends and that too with compensated at 1.5 times my salary.
I guess it doesn't matter to you that there are people who work in these 'operations'.
How about suggesting this to the rest of the Americans - "Don't make a big deal about a loss of a few soldiers in Iraq - there are thousands more waiting in the reserves. It takes only a few days to get them to Iraq."
I agree wholeheartedly with the greencard issue raised by the parent. I am a former H1B (till a month ago), working in San Diego, till I felt trapped by the whole
"H1B - stick to same job - Green card - 4 years atleast", routine.
I left for a better place in Europe which is the headquarters of the largest mobile phone company after taking a paycut. Here my job is not tied to my visa. I have a 'work resident permit' for a certain duration and I am free to move around to any job I want during that.
After 4 years I can apply to become a permanent resident and at the end of six, I can become a citizen if I choose to.
Why the hell is the H1B visa tied to an employer? And then you add quotas! It's the system that is encouraging slavery to a job and thus cheap labor.
Plus, since it shreds the code into 3-line slices, if a decent sized function has been copied, dont you think there is a high probability that there might be atleast one (or more) 3-line chunks that will match perfectly?
But SCO claims that a lot of code has been copied *as-is* along with the comments.
The tool ought to be able to highlight all those flagrant cases (if any) and the report generator would then generate something that would be perused by a human.
Indians have been at the receiving end of terrorism. But I guess that doesnt matter on/. since Indians are also responsible for some lost jobs here. So why not brand then in the same group?

You might want to check out the Nokia 770 which has a 800x480 res at approximately the same size.

Ironic? Racist?
This Indian Express article supports parent about the rarity of tsunamis in the Indian subcontinent.

In case you havent realized yet, see the number of Indian companies certified. Ofcourse you could say this is hogwash.
I am going out on a limb here to assume you are American.
So 5000 years cultural existence is a failure. And 250 years spent trying to maintain military hegemony is culture?
Interesting.
The parent poster reminded me of "Atlas Shrugged" by Ayn Rand.....a good read IMHO.
Find some more links here and here about the German greencard program.
Just to point out, this is not the national government, but the government of a state known as West Bengal (Calcutta is the capital).
From India: There are atleast two that I know of: Anjuta, libyahoo2

Wasteful, yes! But simple and effective!
Announcing a windows release being "hell freezing over". When can they do this for Linux?
If we don't stop working and be slackers at home, we might not have our beloved home which would have been a target of mother nature's wrath!
