Who the hell is Anthony Hamilton? Only once somebody like Madonna or Coldplay does this will it make an impact.
still sucks, tho.

True, New York isn't for some, but I think it's the greatest city in the world. Sure, my apt. isn't that big, but there's no need to be in it except to sleep at night. There's something going on every single day of the year. I don't own a car. Don't need to. I used to bitch about the rent here, but my rent now is about equal to what I was paying for rent elsewhere + car payments + car insurance + car repairs.
We relocated to a spot in midtown last year (though, not with the budget Joel had, apparently), and let me tell you, this is even more amazing considering he did in NYC. Take any ordeal with real estate anywhere in the country and multiply it by a 1000... then you're only somewhere near the neighborhood of what it feels like to negotiate digs in the Big Apple. And don't get me started on the wiring jobs and the telecom lines in this city, cuz it's a freakin' mess. His NYC office space advice is here.
Well, I guess the trick with that is finding someone (yes, one person... can't throw $$$ into a development team) with enough of that specific knowledge base who's willing to take the massive pay cut to work for a non-profit over some for-profit company. The non-profit world is also filled with extremely low level users who get scared if they don't see "Microsoft" plastered on everything they use. Access is cheap. Access is a quick build. Access is not scary to low level users. I wish that weren't the case, but that's the reality.
Anybody think the creators of e-Book stole the idea from the movie Big (Tom Hanks' comic book pitch at the end)?
anyway, I don't know... something about going from sitting in front of computer for 12 hours a day to relaxing on the couch and staring at my PDA to read just doesn't strike me as appealing.
The movie industry isn't trying to take away the right to text message, they're just crying about it.
Let 'em cry.
btw, I thought it was common courtesy to turn off your phone during the movie. Is this article saying that people are actually breaking that rule? j/k, but I'd love to see mega movie dollars being pumped into a "turn of your cell phone, it's rude" campaign now.
I work for an organization that sends information to over 20k low income families all over the US. One of our biggest complaints here in the office is a family claiming stuff must have been "lost in the mail", so we end up spending thousands of dollars just resending the same information to them throughout the year. This system would help us keep our records up to date and cut our overall mailing costs. Plus, I suspect it might keep people in our program longer and reduce our attrition rates. I'd be curious to find out how many families we lose based solely on the fact that we don't have the right address for them or some Mail center in Arizona or Alaska seems to always 'lose' our mail.
This has a certain 'Vegas' quality to it, doesn't it? Vegas is fun because you can throw a little money into it, but it's only good if you have a good head about you and you can come back to reality when the trip is over. If you start to get addicted, then the alternate reality starts to become reality, which is never a good thing. Despite what you may have seen on ESPN at 4AM, gambling is NOT a good way to make a living, nor should playing video games.
This can be fun for those of us who can control it, but I fear for those gamers who will become the equivalent of the 45 year old grandmother (who looks 80) with an unashed cigarette permanently on her lips throwing her life savings into Mega Bucks.
Didn't Andy Warhol do this kind of thing already? I guess back then it was just called "art".
Slap pictures of soup cans on a canvas now, and you'll have lawyers up your a$$ in 20 sec (5 seconds do put the soup can labels on there, 15 seconds to relish in your genius).
Ok, so it's friday and I'm screwing up things at work left and right due to complete stupidity, so let's see if I can forward that momentum right into my slashdot post:
Any way you can keep an old address on a credit card, even if you leave the states? Just somehow deny or forward the paper bills and pay everything online... problem solved (?)
The Whitney (Upper east side) is a great museum. Progressive/Modern art, sometimes tech involved. Saw one exhibit where the walls had a drill running on a track and it would randomly move around the entire floor and drill holes into the wall in random spots at random times. Pretty cool.
McSorley's ale house (east village). Oldest in the states, and you only get two options: Light or Dark.
Corner Bistro (west village)... best burger in the city.
Sony store is on Madison in the high 40s. Mostly for kids, though. They're building a top secret "adult" part, but no idea when it's supposed to be finished.
Take your laptop to Bryant Park (hotspot)... also has free movies in the park on Mondays.
SummerStage in Central Park!!!! Saw a kick ass FREE They Might Be Giants concert there.....
so many things to do in NYC!!!!! Best city in the world.
I'm a geek, but these are for dorks.
EEEEWWWWWWwww.
If any of my co-workers pulls this out at a buisness meeting, I'm going to punch them in the face.
I'll do it.

I work for a non-profit that has given out over $180 million dollars in the past 4 years to over 40,000 needy families all over the US.
I use Access to maintain all that info and it is both accurate and effective.
Not bad for $200.
The software can only take you so far. It's the coding that counts.

My new msft inspired sh*tty pick up line:
I just did a report on myself that says I'm really f*cking good in bed.
Now sleep with me.
The only way to sell these things is to have Julia Roberts walk one down Spring St. in the West Village.
I use everything from a mouse to a touchpad to a roller ball.... is my signature the same using all of these things?
How will it know? I'd get really annoyed if I had to plug in a mouse on my laptop to sign for something.

The power plant should be up and running by 2030.
Power station timelines rock. I'd love to propose this kind of schedule for my projects.
"New Version? Sure, we should start beta testing in (deep, echoing voice) the year 2030."
Man, this thing should really f***ing fly when you use that 56K modem (?)
Go to school and read a book.
Easy way to get smart and stay smart.
Buy stock in GNC now...
I think we found a new market for them.

If we choose not to pay for a patch, it seems fair that we can send M$ a bill for the money lost due to the flaw.
