Isolate the genes from this girl and send people out to populate mars or the moon on one way trips. Imagine uninterrupted lifetimes spent exploring the stars. She's just like Wolverine just a bit smaller.
So many posts about this. Just stop people. The simple answer is you can only prove something is impossible if you completely know all the rules of the domain / universe - like math and logic.
In real life it's not possible because we don't know all the rules.
I use SD cards for distributing software to PDA's. I've gone through several hundred. In my experience they either become read only or unreadable. So far I haven't had any noticeable file corruption. We do wipe the cards before updating them with new data so it's possible there are dead areas on the card that the SD controller is finding and avoiding for us.
We use them more like rewritable CD's rather than hard drives though so ymmv.
Google Maps on the phone is useless for actually getting somewhere. It draws a nice line but without turn by turn navigation or even detecting when you're off the path and re-calculating it's no good for driving.
I know it says it's not meant for that but that strikes me as trying to cover up being inadequate with some after the fact documentation and legalese.
I would rather have the browser guys work on getting something OTHER than javascript into the browsers. Javascript is getting better, but you only polish a turd so much.
The winner-take-all selection of state electoral votes isn't something described or even mentioned in the U.S. Constitution.... and it is a mistake to think that it has to be the only system for selecting candidates for the U.S. Presidency either.
I think California would benefit from having a proportional selection of electors, where even a 4%-5% shift in votes would still be gaining a few extra electoral votes for each candidate. It would also give a chance for 3rd party candidates to actually get some legitimate electoral votes... which is perhaps why it won't ever be done.
The method of electing the president is an issue that has been left for the states to decide. Some have a winner take all, others are starting to go to a proportionate count. Originally the president was elected by your congressmen.
Check the wikipedia article on the Electoral College. It's pretty good. Or at least it was yesterday.:)
I disagree. I posted elsewhere but I think less than margin of error should be popular vote. Think about it if things are that close, why let a small number of votes count for the millions of votes in that state?
If it's too small to be sure, then call it a draw and let the popular vote from the rest of the country decide.
With the winner take all electoral college, any votes that are more than 50% of the majority don't count.
If California had 80 Million Votes for A, and 20 Million votes for B, then the extra 30 million votes for A count the same as if there were only an extra 10 votes for A over B.
If a smaller state votes an A over B by 10,000 votes, those extra 30 million votes from California don't matter.
So the only states that a relevant are the ones where the campaigners estimate the voters are somewhere close to that halfway mark and they can tip the balance in their favor.
Personally I think in cases where there is a vote count difference smaller than the statistical risk of error of popular vote should be substituted.
As long the ads are in a sidebar or something and not on top of the entertainment. Or some other kind of overlay that could be removed.
I can't seem to watch normal broadcast stations any more without a quarter of the screen having this stupid animations on top. I'm not completely adphobic but that's like someone standing in front of the screen at a theater.
TV Overlays, telemarketing and spam... there is no way I would ever buy from companies who resort to being annoying.
So this is how it starts. Soon he'll be genetically-enhancing his followers, going into suspended animation and then who knows what else...

Amazon EC2 is the largest installation of XEN servers I'm aware of. You can sign up right now and start up to 20 virtual machines for $.10 US per hour. There are some major services built on top of EC2. I would assume Amazon itself uses the technology to run their own services - that should provide a pretty good shelf life and development cycle.
Very cool. I do this right now. We track races with the stuff. Presenting nice data for the user is definitely the hardest part of the equation. Oddly enough all of our custom hardware is likely to be replaced by your average cell phone in a few years.
If you ever feel like chatting about things im me and say hi!
The opposite could also be true. We don't know how accurate the samples they are searching could be. The subset of people who provided DNA would be subject to more thorough and frequent searches for matches against criminals than those that did not volunteer. The chances of errors resulting in a false positive could end up with all those law abiding families being accused of crimes they didn't commit. Certainly higher than if you were not in the database and simply didn't commit a crime at all.
Very interesting post. Well I have to assume that the Chinese people aren't dumb and this level of corruption must be obvious. I imagine it's simply tolerated as part of the system they grew up with like most people here can't seem to understand the concept of a third party or non majority vote counting. Although if the majority of work available requires so many hours out of your day you would probably be beyond caring or ability to achieve much of an education.
Still when sites like Youtube, CNN, Wired News, etc all drop of the net all at once they must realize something interesting is going on. Is that correct?

GP post was an awesome if unintended troll.

Yes! Bluetooth Serial I/O and I would write all my hardware control interfaces for iPhone.

Civilization periodically destroyed every period due to the unique orbit of the planet.
Sounds like Peppermint Patty really lost it

... I guess I'll move to canada. The US government has been hijacked.
It would probably be better for everyone else if you moved to a few key counties in Ohio. :)

Now if you search correctly with quotes...
Google Search:

Not that either search means much. But lets at least compare similar items.

But wait... I thought THIS was Ark B?
Funny, most of the people I know who passed the MENSA tests are borderline bots already.
Something like the US SuperNova testing grounds? I hope they remember to duck and cover!
