    You know, Linux and Unix are both Unix without the hastle of windows too, and they run on the hardware you already have.

    I think 'physical gaming' is much more fun to play and also more rewarding. Anyone remember Duck Hunt for NES? That game would've been pretty bad if it weren't for the fact that you could actually aim at the ducks with a gun and hit them. That totally redeemed the boring gameplay and ancient graphics. Actually I'm gonna go play now...

    I read in an article a few years ago that was a discussion with a few game creators that company executives won't allow you to create a game unless "you can show them how many copies of the same game sold last year." No wonder there's no innovation.

    I think the image is projected onto the floor. It just makes a flat color and then chisels another color into it with different brushes and effects until its a big mess like a winamp vis plugin I dunno though, it doesn't explain well

    I've set up family members with linux before, and just make sure if they don't know lots about computers, that it all works before you let them loose on it

    How is this any better than joining an IRC channel or a messageboard on the topic you are interested in? Rather than finding people who typed your interest into a search engine, just go on dalnet or something and type /list yourinterest

    Maybe the rental places could have some way to press the discs right when you need them. You could ask for the movie you want and they burn it onto a DVD RW or whatever. The discs could expire 48 hours after they're made, at which point you return them for your deposit, just like cans and bottles.
