Are they allowed to do that when the majority of their code they didn't even write? They have been making it harder and harder to get WineX code too. First they removed it from debian and then Gentoo, and I haven't been able to get the source from CVS since then. I'm not sure what license wine was using when they forked but I dont think that this is allowed, is it?
if you read a bit further, he said that they had software installed on older machines that were "passed-down" to the people with less processing power, and the hard drives were never wiped. He wasn't sitting there installed devilsown windows XP corp on all his computers and cackling maniaclly that they'll never catch him
maybe i was just early and lucky, but i am getting about 400k/s from the official website, and only about 30k/s down from bittorrent. maybe they set up some massive pipeline, knowing that it would be tested as soon as they posted the trailer
Microsoft is not providing a worthwhile service to the user if their "service" is a public backdoor into the user's computer.
Microsoft would never allow an open security risk into their products *cough*rpc*cough let alone enable it by default with no password *cough*netbios*cough*
Most of my school, and offices, and home users in general use MS Word. Just because thats the mainstream, I don't have to run MS word or even windows to work with them. I use the linux alternatives like OpenOffice, Koffice etc. which converts MS word documents just fine. You don't always have to conform to be compatbile

I can't view the site in mozilla firebird or opera properly, so I can't see if the price is listed there, but I've been looking for somethign to replace my 4 year old minidisc player and depending on the price, this could be really good. Is there a MSRP anywhere on the page that might have been covered by the menus?
I have been reading through an A+ certification book, thinking I could use all the stuff I already know and do for friends for free to make a little spare cash while I'm still in school. This is giving me second thoughts about wanting anything to do with these people.
Sure gentoo can take a while on older hardware, but on new hardware, such as an Athlon XP 2400+, I can build X and Fluxbox in 84 minutes AND have whatever support I need compiled into it and not what I dont. Also portage is super easy.
There is a section in Hacking Exposed about this. Also, you don't just search for the word "password". you search for phrases. eg "Index of "/cgi-bin" to find someone who has improperly chmodded his site etc.
I a) Live in canada and
b) Use the kazaa (fasttrack) network with a linux client that doesnt make you enter a name like monkeyluvr
so they'll actually have to figure out my name to prosecute me...
If they do manage to shut down all the sites, which I doubt they will, then people will start sites in the Netherlands and such, just like cracks, serials and software security sites.
but what about until then?
You have to be practical, some people need non-native application support today

Just because it's prison, it doesn't mean it's alright to break laws.
And we all know that prisoners would never dream of breaking the law... oh wait
I think we've also forgotton that stealing is different from copyright infringement.

If it is possible to test with 0.1, why do they generally use 5-10?

You were forced to ask somewhat intelligent questions?
Oh god no

Imagine getting ahold of a tatoo gun that could imprint images permanently on someones face and finding your friend passed out drunk...
whats the point in having a folding lcd monitor? it's not like portability is a huge factor when you still have to plug it into your computer
