for real. something interesting that i noticed was that a large northern california chain (Fry's Electronics) advertised 'Enter the Matrix' not as a game but as "exclusive Matrix footage".
50 million people in the USA have broadband and games are available from kazaa. this further proves that the RIAA/MPAA claim that piracy is killing their profits is complete BS. make something that people want/enjoy and they will gladly pay for it.
thats because youre not very bright. i'm not going to go thru your entire post and correct your points again. youre showing some irrationality and i've found that dealing with irrationalitity and attempting to dispute it is most often wasted time. believe what you want to believe, i'm not trippin, but just know that youre wrong, k thnx bye.
I should have expanded my point more, as it is more than simply being about reusing characters. Its about supply and demand. Look at your second point about FF, thats where Tomb Raider needs to be. hidden away so that gamers clamor to bring back Lara. As it stands right now nobody gives a fuck about Tomb Raider. Its not original, its the same formula. Originally it did well because it was a fun action adventure where you play a chick with gigantic breasts. Nowadays there are hundreds of games with that same premise, the demand is being filled.
So to go back to my original point they need to shelve Tomb Raider and only bring it back when the market is salivating for a new game in the series. The problem is not 'stale grey gameplay, with no quality control' (see Resident Evil for example), the problem is people don't care about Tomb Raider like they used to. A game can still sell well if it sucks, such as Enter the Matrix, but if the market demands it then people will buy it.
What they need to do is shelve Tomb Raider for now, develop some other games, then bring back the franchise in 2006 for PS3. People are just tired of Tomb Raider, yeah it was cool back in the day, but enough is enough. If Final Fantasy retained the same protagonist for every game in the series it would not continue to be a million selling franchise.
"What I am most interested is how MS will handle (cause you know they won't sit and take this)"
I think Microsoft will do nothing and hope nobody notices outside the alpha-geek circles. This is common practice for a corporation when it recieves negative press. Search for xbox AND modchip on news.google and you're only going to see a handful of results-- Australian papers and geek.com... Thats great that this news made it to games.slashdot but it NEEDS to be on the slashdot main page. If it makes it to the front page it seriously has a chance of making it to more news 'sources'. If it generates enough press it could seriously create an impact.
it will happen eventually-- but give it a generation. when people like me, who were introduced to online news sources early in life become the head of households, print newspaper readership will decline severely. it is already begining to happen, newspapers basically just print yesterday's news and all the other interesting content they offer is available online from their website or from other online sources. once it becomes more and more common for the average person to find out about breaking news instantly then you can kiss print papers goodbye. enjoy those inky fingers while you can, it seems very possible we'll be telling stories to our grandchildren about how the news use to be printed on paper and delivered to our house every morning. sheesh, it already sounds ancient.
Its about time something like this came out, It appears that someone has finally broken thru what is probably the best protection in a home console. I understand this may have "more positive ramifications than trying to copy existing games", which was stated in regards to Starcube's recent gamecube hack. However, even Starcube are also helping to jumpstart to gamecube homebrew. Go read their nfo files and you'll see that furthering homebrew dev and hacking is their motivation for providing ISOs. There are no GameCube emulators and its impossible to play a burned game on a GameCube. Other consoles have mods which let you play discs from other regions as well as burned discs. (Upcoming link is PDF)--Currently, the only mod for Gamecube only allows playing discs from other regions. I'm sure there will be another breakthrough in the future to play pirated games on a GameCube, but until then the dev scene can (hopefully) blossom without people looking over our shoulders yelling 'Pirate!'.
hahahahahah youre ignorance is so absurd its hilarious, bitch! thats some funny shit. anyway, you are aware that theres a ton of abbreviations circulating through/. as we speak? IIRC,IANAL,FUD,AFAIK,etc. I am mocking the disproportionate amount of abbreviations used on/. with an absurdly large abbreviation. IANAEBIWLO, but if you cannot understand this clean and simple explanation, then you might be a retard hahaha youre stupid. little bitch. i bet you get your ass kicked by handicapped people on the subway, loser. hahahaHA
Sorry for preemptively stating your gender, heh. But yeah... I've heard Nintendo Australia often announces games waaaaaaay ahead of time (sometimes even before the game has been announced in USA, but for some reason thats usually only with 3rd party games...) so maybe there is still hope. The new Harvest Moon looks fun too, I'm looking forward to the GC/GBA connectivity aspect. Hopefully it will be better than the PS2 version, i think was probably my least fav Harvest Moon game.
sorry guy, i dont think Nintendo will spend the effort on something requiring as massive localization as Animal Crossing does for such a small market. please be aware, by small market i do not mean that Australia isn't something major, but that there just aren't enough people with GameCubes there to warrant another localization. I suggest you pick up the Datel Freeloader and import Animal Crossing.
I don't know what game you're referring to but its definitely not Animal Crossing as there is no "challenge(ing) other players with your upgraded characters" in AC.
The Animal Crossing cards are cards that you can scan in via an attachment to a GBA which is hooked up to the GameCube. They unlock new items (including fully playable NES games), designs that you can put on your character's clothes, and songs which will play in the background. In addition, one does not need the GBA card-reader peripheral, as Nintendo has provided a password on each card which also unlocks something. The password unlocks a different item than scanning it. Needless to say, one can simply head over to certain websites and get all the passwords without having to purchase a card. Certain hackers have also been able to "unlock" (ie, provide a password for) items that could previously only be unlocked via scanning a card. IIRC, the only items that still require scanning a card and cannot be acquired any other way are a couple NES games.
I submitted this story last week but it was rejected. I suspect it was because i linked to Starcube's site, despite the fact that there is really not much there save for a few nfo-Files.
is this now the biggest worldwide sport to have an exclusive game license?
No. Electronic Arts holds the exclusive FIFA license. Other companies can get a FIFAPro license which does not even come close to the all encompassing license that EA currently holds. I can't recall off-the-top how many teams are in a FIFAPro license but i know its merely a smattering.
Its a shame too, because Winning Eleven 6 by Konami is clearly the best futbol game on the market right now. Actually, I shouldn't say its a shame, because Konami thankfully put in the option to change player and team names which is quite a brilliant way to skirt around not having a full license.
are you sure you werent on your way home from the bar and the "segway" was really a bicycle? Because everything you just described fits the description of a bike. If your streets force cars to go into oncoming lanes of traffic to avoid a segway then surely they do the same to avoid a bike. Either that or the segway driver was an ass, driving in the middle of the street.
Actually, Square Insider did not confirm it, after a quick double take I noticed that they list the release date of both games as Nov 8th. Then they state that FF:CC may be pushed up to Nov 3rd, which is the date The Magicbox states they both will come out. Hrmph.
Actually the first movie was also originally banned until an appeal was won on behalf of the company who would then go on to distrobute the movie in Egypt. Keep in mind IANAEBIWLO (i am not an egyptian but i walk like one), i merely read this in the original reuters report from yesterday.
the matrix has philosophical themes in that it actively induces viewers to think about spirituality and reality. just because theres plot holes doesnt mean it cant induce philosophical thinking. no, it is not profound. and its not supposed to be accepted as profound-- its an action movie.
Heh, that reminds me of a Frys commercial I saw when 'Enter the Matrix' came out. They advertised it as Exclusive Brand New Matrix Footage...For all systems! Actually thats pretty smart of Fry's, someone there must have seen how it was getting nothing but horrible reviews and marketed it more appropriately.
I want to know if you have ever had read access to proprietary Unix source code (not just binaries and documentation) under circumstances where either no non-disclosure agreement was required or whatever non-disclosure agreement you had was not enforced
I think its safe to say i am speaking on behalf of ALL of/. when i say No.
the problem is that ps2 came out nearly a year earlier than gamecube so developers have had more time working with ps2 hw. as it stands right now, it is easier to develop for ps2 even tho nintendo's hw is... well, better.

oops i mean 1 - 20 of the "reobservation points" were discovered by computers in Antarctica! Damn you, Mary Jane!
Check it out...
