(or meters/metres for those of you not in the US)
Since a very small movement of the wrist is going to result in a large movement at the other end of the beam, it stirkes me that it has to be pretty darn hard to aim a laser beam into a cockpit unless you've either got it mounted on some sort of tripod or you're very close to the take-off/landing point (in which case, you should be fairly easy to find)
On your car or in your car? For years, the police in some US jurisdictions have been placing little pieces of tape on the tailights of cars parked in nightclub parking lots and then using the presence of said tape (as in the right taillight of that moviong car has a black spot on it) as added reason to suspect one had been drinking (note I said "added reason", not "probable cause")
Unfortunately, it comes down to this. Linux is essentially developed by geeks for geeks, and, as a generality, geeks have little time/patience with the "clueless newbie unwashed" who need their hands held.
If Linux is ever going to conquer the desktop, it will take the effort of many dedicated people who not only have the time & the patience, but also obsess about the user experience of the aforementioned unwashed.
Unlike the average/. reader, the majority of people view the computer as a tool, a means to an end, not as a hobby and not as the end itself.
as a desktop browser. It had a clear lead on Mozilla and IE for a while but it just goes to show that most people won't pay money for "great" when "good" is free.
Now they have made some inroads in the embedded market, but it looks like the Mozilla team has their sites set on this as well. My prediction is the same will apply (why pay when you can get it for free), except the gap between Opera and Mozilla has closed significantly.
If you're doing a high volume of transactions, the costs associated with "selling" to all those winning shill bidders will take a significant bite out of your margins.
I've been selling casually on eBay since '98 and have never engaged in shill bidding. Only once have I been disappointed with the final selling price of a "big-ticket" item.

Laura Croft was about giving pubescent boys something to fantasize about.
Shepherd further noted that companies that have spent millions of dollars on their PeopleSoft business systems are unlikely to tear out those systems and start over just because Microsoft is offering a discount.
The Microsoft offer "is barely worth the paper the press release was written on," Shepherd said.
I think the end of the article sums it up succinctly.

Top 50? Top 50 DVD's? What was the criteria? Movies you can watch without having to think all that much?
I did RTFA, I'm familiar with Rational's product line, but I'm not sure what exactly this is supposed to do? As many others have pointed, this looks a lot more like maketing-babble than anything useful.
If the beta release is any indication, it sure looks like MS has a homerun on their hands with the Giant Antispyware application. Everyone I have spoken with has had new, undiscovered apps discovered running on their machine after installing and running the beta.
Wolfgang Schlichting, an optical storage analyst for IDC, said that characterizing the VCTS DRM scheme as a forced obsolescence of DVD players was a "bit of an overstatement". However, the addition of the copyright restrictions will add more confusion to the market, he acknowledged
Chalk up another one for Slashdot hysteria.
If he were saying things like that about me, I'd make him pay big time to hire a lawyer to defend himself.
A lawyer hired by myself wouldn't care if it was true or not, the whole purpose would be to shut his mouth, or his keyboard in this case, up tight.
All I can say is, I sure hope you're wealthy, because no lawyer worth having is going to take this on contingency. Also, there is the potential of it coming back on you in the form of a "frivolous lawsuit" countersuit. Now, you'll need 2 lawyers.
Very few people (military snipers aside) can scope on a moving target 5,000 feet away from them.

These things aren't free, nor would the infrastructure to monitor a lot of them be free either.

RTFA. They are also suing him directly for tortious interference.
tortious interference - look it up Even still, it's a stretch.

You're missing the point. It's all about Steve. All Steve all the time. Everyone else is supporting cast

Only because we can't find another host country stupid enough to take them in.
won't this avert the problem?

You're thinking Singapore, not Taiwan.
Wait. The marketing types are very tech savvy?
I hope this isn't too personal a question, but what color is the sky on your planet?

I'll bet this loses a lot more than 120 million euro.
