I don't know about the rest of you, but I tend to use ctrl+T a LOT for generating new tabs. I don't like the fact that you have to use the little green plus on the foxie toolbar to add the tab.
That, and foxie seemed to mixup the google toolbar and the foxie toolbar when I was trying to turn one (or the other) off. I had to turn off the foxie toolbar to turn off the google toolbar.
Maybe this wasn't ready enough to be called an IE->Firefox plugin
I think this mentality is very dangerous, as I have a coworker who thinks he is ENTITLED to a job in a particular area simply because he is passionate about it and works hard at it. He seems to think that the economy should provide space for him simply based on these 2 things. I think that passion and hard work need to be coupled with an equally vigorous assesment of your own strengths and weaknesses. I mean, just because I am passionate about basketball, and work hard at getting better, will money actually follow my pursuit of it? No - because I probably would still suck. Similarly, I think the sentiment echoed in the parent post needs to be tempered with the reality of one's abilities in a particular area.
Did you SEE a picture of Michelle? I think she just might represent that random event:)
And on a side note, I think people might have had an easier time believing that she slid a few of these things past editors if she was a hot girl with big breast (pardon the crudeness - I am trying to make a point). But it makes you wonder when she looks like this.... Not being prejudiced against ugly people (or fat people), but this is unfortunately how the world works. At least in my damn office...
I think what you are feeling towards New Hope is similar to what is often felt about the matrix series. The first movie left you with a very open ended conclusion, and a lot of unexplained things. And that is probably why so many people liked it, and really didn't get that crazy about the rest. In some ways, that open ending is better - it leaves the rest of the universe up to your imagination. Somehow, when someone tries to go and explain it all via more movies, it just seems wrong:) That being said, I think purely from an artistic angle, Empire edges out a New Hope .
I think that it would be interesting to see how much the whole project costs (and what percentage is being picked up by advertisers). Even if the total costs are 10,000 or even 20,000 (I am guessing they are much higher), I think it is still a ridiculously small part of the city's (or state's) budget. And it is something that could potentiall draw a lot more people into the city (and consequently more revenue).
I mean who doesn't have ronco's food dehydrator/de-flavorer or ronco's famous rotissere which I would never in a million years set and forget? Ron has got to be some kind of genius, and his inventions should top any list of worthless doohickies and thingamabobs.
How about those fans also paying the rest of us for having wasted precious hours watching the first 4 seasons of piss poor sci-fi.
And if the fans DO support it, do they think that they might actually have some say in the direction of the story or the quality of the writing? Nope...sorry guys.
I personally like to see a company constantly swing for the fence. In a brand awareness sence, it gets their name known for being innovative (rather than playing it safe). To continue the baseball analogy, how often do you hear about the person with the highest batting average (Ichiro Suzuki). More often you will hear all about that guy hitting a ton of homers - sure he may strike out a lot, but watch out when he DOES connect. Similarly, with Apple - they will either crash and burn with the new tech, or revolutionize the industry....AGAIN.
I think counting lumps would only be accurate if we did the right thing and all pitched in to buy the space for a giant "KICK ME!" sign on his forhead:P
While I am no Bush supporter, I want to congratulate him on his victory. And I sincerely hope that he will take great steps to heal the wounds on this country inflicted by both the events of the past 4 years and a VERY bitter election.
I certainly don't think votes for a 3rd party candidate are flushed down the toilet, and you are forgetting Badnarik and Cobb as well. I expect Badnarik will get a few percentage points from those resourceful enough to actually look at the party platforms and vote their conscience (and not buy in to propaganda from the two major parties).
While the poll (if the results are to be believed) indicates a high preference in this popoulation for Kerry, how do we know that this is who the cell-phone crowd will vote for? I think this popoulation, which is clearly more tech-savvy than the average american, might also be more informed about the issues. And if that is the case, you may see a LARGE chunk of this population voting Libertarian or Green. I think it is unfortunate that these polls have biased themselves by saying "Who would you vote for - Bush, Kerry, or Nader". It is like saying "Do you want to get shot in the right knee, the left knee, or the head". How about I take that hidden 4th option and choose not to get shot at all?
I think I would be more impressed with the institution that must clearly be offering a course in typing with your feet:
22 Ursinus College PA
student:1,467
computers:1,600
ratio: 109:100
I think that is a fabulous way to increase productivity (and given the number of spelling mistakes I see in papers I grade, I think some students must have already taken this course).
While only a little offtopic, was it just me or was it nice to read somewhat coherent answers to good questions that were not immediately followed with "And I would do a better job than him" or "He will cause the downfall of your country" or some other such drivel?
I certainly wish the campaigns themselves (and especially the debates) had more of this flavor. While clearly canned answers (Bush knowing what VOIP is????), it is a refreshing thing to see in a race that has become increasingly ugly.
Oh, and was anyone else a bit annoyed that 3rd party candidates (or even Nader) were not included? I am sure the Greens, Libertarians, and especially Nader would have had interesting responses (thought many of those can be dug out of the appropriate campaign website).
I can look elsewhere because I still believe I have a choice in which parties I support. I completely agree that corruption like this needs to be pointed out, and needs to be fought. I think that the best way to fight corruption of this sort is to show that it has a negative impact on voter morale and opinion towards the party practicing this. Each party uses these tactics to try and sway voters, and try to energize their followers. So clearly the way to really penalize them is to show each party that we will no longer support them when they use morally questionable tactics, and we will fight hard to make sure noone else does either. And it for this reason that I very vocally proclaim that I was (emphasis WAS) a Democrat/Republican, and am now backing another party.
While I am certainly no Republican or Republican supporter (I am voting Libertarian), I just wanted to point everyone to this. It is things like this that led me to believe that both parties are corrupt (and EQUALLY corrupt) and that looking elsewhere is in the best interest of all rational people.
Now let's hope that such heresy does not catch the ire of the moderators and get me modded down
How does the Green Party's view on affirmative action (from what I could gather from your website) coincide with key value #2 (social justice and equal opportunity)? It seems that someone who is pushing for monetary reparations for past injustices as well as affirmative action programs cannot say they also confront things that "deny fair treatment" (also from key value #2).
I for one welcome our computer overlords, and will glad accept their wisdom in this task.

From days of long ago, from uncharted regions of the universe, comes a legend. The legend of Linux: Defender of the Universe! A mighty OS. Loved by good (slashdot geeks), feared by evil (other geeks). As Linux's legend grew, peace settled across the galaxy. On planet Earth, a galaxy alliance was formed. Together with the good planets of the solar system, they maintained peace throughout the universe. Until a new horrible OS threatened the galaxy. Linux was needed once more. This is the story of the super geek named Linus. Specially trained and sent by the Alliance to bring back Linux: Defender of the Universe.

Actually, no matter what machine it is, I weep like a little girl who just lost her doll
That was one of the funniest things I've read in the past month. Now if only you could put this song to a nice satiric flash cartoon....

If it means that we can't ever shave again (or maybe that is just the author's belief :P)

Voting for Badnarik, and in the solidly blue Illinois. My brother has already voted absentee for Badnarik, in Texas (guess which color it is).

They sound an awful lot like spammer names - dunno if we can trust em.
