I havn't finished the game yet, but a lot of people have said that the ending lacked "resolution." I think the GameSpot review put it best when they said it feels like HL2 is the middle of a larger story... not unlike The Two Towers or Matrix: Reloaded. I have a feeling that HL3 will surpass even HL2, and I'm already looking forward to it...
As an artist on -- and former staff member of -- deviantART: To anyone looking for pre-existing icons and stuff to use, please ask permission of the artist! Many artists would gladly grant permission to someone looking to use thier work so long as it's properly asked for. Spare a headache on both sides.:)
That's like saying slashdot is a place only for Linux trolling and arguing about whether Perl is the best thing since sliced bread. Sure, there's a lot of it but it's hardly exclusive.
Yea but, is it unreasonable to expect to be able to play the game when you've bought it from the store? One who hasn't been tracking HL2 would assume that it's been released if it's on store shelves, ya know?
The conditional being "common sense.";) Before I discovered Firefox, I used IE for probably... 6 years or so with no problems. And I agree that most/.'ers could as well.
But why even have to worry about such things? Not to mention that security is not IE's only weak point. Standsards compliance and user experience (i.e. ads, popups, etc...) are also something IE lacks. Firefox has all that out of the box, and more.
As much as people like to bash IE, I think (or would LIKE to think) that the anti-IE sentiment is a result of 1) they like Firefox more, so they support it as much as possible and 2) they understand that Joe User doesn't know to turn off scripting, be careful about ActiveX (if they even know what it is), and why they need a firewall... which is why something as effective as Firefox is so necessary for the wider market.
The interface is nice, but when I have 5 other email accounts that I check via Thunderbird, it's quite nice to now be able to check all my email accounts via Thunderbird instead of making 2 trips to do my email.
That bug is fixed in the trunk, but not in the Aviary branch from which FF1.0 came. So it should be fixed in the next release, but that will be a while since they have to resynch the branch and trunk, and then stabilize all that. But it's there, so if you really want it you can hit up the nightly builds from here on out.:)
Why isn't there a standard ballot and/or machine for the entire nation? Would it be that difficult? Doesn't have to be comptuerized, doesn't have to be optical, doesn't have to be fancy. Just something relatively foolproof and easy to count.
IIRC labels don't get much, if any, revenue from touring bands. This is changing a bit, but in the past, the vast majority of a band's income is from touring.
So I didn't RTFA, but why divert corn from the food supply? I'm sure it's not exactly in short supply but with so many starving people in the world wouldn't it be better off actually feeding people?
What would it take to have the BitTorrent protocol run via SSH (or some other sort of encryption)? I mean... it couldn't take TOO much to modify the protocol could it? Wouldn't have to be insanely strong... just non-brute-forceable...
Here's a preview article at IGN.com. It sounds quite innovative, and it really takes advantage of the DS's features. But whether it'll be fun to play is another story...
I saw it ... I actually had to look away. It was a dark moment for nerds everywhere.
A blank isn't really a cliché, it's for other photoshoppers to use in thieir entries.
Lest we forget BitTorrent!

Sounds like a more polished version of WASTE.
Can't be that hard ... most P2P apps I've ever seen default to a \download\ or \shared\ directory...
True, but a discrete audio signal has its own set of problems...

The big deal?
... buy game. Go home, install, and find out ... OOPS! Vivendi says you can't play it yet. Shucks, you'll have to wait a few days...
Go to store
Dunno about you, but I'd be pissed.

Yea, but isn't it still vulnerable to the typical IE hacks?

I believe they're supposed to email you a PDF of the advert...
Thanks dude ... if you like it, please share it with anyone you think might like it! :)

Is it really so hard?
May I be the first to say ... "No shit!"
"That would imply that MSFT owns or controls what it is licencing."
How does one license that which one does not control or own? This is like a car manufacturer licensing the ability drive on the road.
Well, when the *AA raise prices and sue individuals to "make up" for piracy it does hurt consumer.

Or will the occasional coaster now be edible?

Or would that even really solve the problem?
