While most audio workstations may not have great video cards at the current time, I'd go spend $500 on a video card that'd take 90% of the workload off my processor while mixing... it's cheaper than a lot of equipment out there.
And the ability to get a few frags in while the band is taking a break isn't too bad either!;)

Not quite so simple... the patent is titled " Discoverability and navigation of hyperlinks via tabs" but the patent refers to a "predefined key." So in reality, using any key to cycle through the URL's on a page has been patented.
I'm sure not all SQL's are created (entirely) equal, but as someone who's just getting started with databases (via MySQL) is there any reaosn I should be considering PostgreSQL over MySQL? I keep reading that Postgre is "better" and "more serious" than MySQL, but in what ways? I figured the differences between the SQL's were mostly internal...
Is that such a good idea, though, for extended viewing? Monitors (particularly the CRT flavour) are pretty bright as it is... even brighter light can't be too good for the eyes.
Am I in a different dimension? When was the last time anyone used voice recognition for any serious, and lengthly, computer input task? And handwriting recognition is nice for PDA's, but I can type much faster than I can write... my typing is probably more accurate than the handwriting regocnition that's out there, too...
There is nothing intuititive about $task. There are things that seem intutitive after years of $task, but to someone with no background in $task they're all overly difficult to [do].

For those who didn't RTFA the parent post had, it restructures/. with XHTML and CSS. Bottom line:
* Savings per day without caching the CSS files: ~3.15 GB bandwidth
* Savings per day with caching the CSS files: ~14 GB bandwidth
And the traffic figure they used was from June 2000. Do the math.

First of all, Hatch proposes insane bills, that go nowhere, all the time. Second of all, as technologically inept as many senators/congressmen may be none of them, in their right mind, would let a bill like this pass. We're talking about illegalizing [is that a word?] technology that people, businesses, and the government use every day.
Obviously we should not just sit back and scoff at the bill's content for its sheer insanity, but write your representatives and leave the tin-foil hat for another day... or at least another/. post.
So much talk about supporting indie musicians, how about we start right at "home." If your band has music online, email me the info... I'll put together a simple list. There's got to be something for everyone.
No... In fact, I remember Carmack being annoyed with the naming scheme for the GF4 MX cards. Their performance is hardly comparable with a "real" GF4... and I don't honestly think an MX is up to par -- at all -- for Doom III.
You can send a Cease & Desist letter to them, since those screensavers are your own work. An example letter, though not exactly suitable for your situation, is here.
Basically, you need to tell them:
1 - Your works are distributed on their site. Specify exactly what these works are.
2 - You have contacted them in the past (give dates) asking them to remove your material from the site.
3 - As of the sending of the letter, they continute to distribute your material on the site.
4 - If they continute to distribute your material, you may take action against them under Copyright Law.
I am not a lawyer... I'm just letting you know that you do have recourse agains them. Good luck.
Just because you have spyware doesn't mean that it got in through Moz. Many share/freeware applications install info harvesting stuff. Nearly everyone I know, techy or not, uses Moz or Firefox... and they've gotten nary a popup, nevermind spyware.

It's just fucking software/movies/games/$digital_stuff!!!
Sounds like the Matrix to me... I knew this whole "Linux" thing was bad news...
Isn't a demo an ad in and of itself? "Here's a little taste, now buy the full version!"
... not for the consumer, anyway. $50 a piece for a new title isn't enough?
There's no good that can come of this tracking stuff

But are IBM's patents strange, and nearly frivolous?

Well, when everyone realizes that their Windows box is at a significant risk without updates, they'll switch to Linux, right?
...
RIGHT??
Sure ... wait and buy a year old system to play a year old game. At which point you'll want to upgrade to play that season's latest and greatest...

Poker is to Sports as Real World is to Music
Yet one is broadcast on a sports channel, the other on [what was] a music channel.
