Basically, they're saying that no current consumer PC will be able to run Longhorn. Given recent trends, it's not unreasonable to expect that most/all consumer hardware will ship with embedded DRM capabilities. Is this not exactly what MS wants?
I've never understood how/why the GPL would be "struck down" in court; a concern that seems to appear quite frequently. If I want to release my code under a license that says you must do 50 jumping jacks before you can modify/compile/install/distribute it, why can't I? And why wouldn't I be able to enforce it if someone violated that (as absurd as that may seem)?
If you're directly sending me data, of any kind, why is it unreasonable for me to be able to save it on my computer? Regardless of whether it's saved by "default" or not.
But therein lies the problem of the DMCA... True "Fair Use" becomes criminal.
Strange thing is, this program just quickens what one could already do. I could very easily burn my MP4's to CD, then rip back to MP4 and (if done right) there will be little or no loss. But the bottom line is that PlayFair reaches an ends equal to what one could do with iTunes.
Is that possible, though? It's my understanding that these sattelites just send out signals saying where they are in space, and it's the GPS device's job to figure out where that puts itself on the ground.
That would be suicide for Microsoft. Even given the huge numbers that use AOL and MSN, there are equally many that are quite content with their current local dial-up or cable/DSL... and would certainly raise hell if they were forced to switch to AOL/MSN (MOL?).
Besides... that goes beyond monopoly practices. That's virutally a dictatorship...
So I'm guessing it'd be easier to learn/develop Qt in a Linux environment, as opposed to Windows? KDevelop is obviously a KDE tool, and I don't see QtDesigner download available on TrollTech.
It's not a big deal to have to use Linux... but Windows would be more convenient, since that's where I am most of the time.
What level of C++ knowledge is necessary to begin working with something like Qt (or other windowing libraries for that matter)? Having taken several semesters of C++ so far, I want to try something a little more tangible than the prompt stuff we've been doing.
"Is this supposed to mean that no one can create anything new anymore, because it has "all been done before" ?"
No no... but, when you write a song, you don't know whether it's been done before. [And if I'm not mistaken, there are no provisions for this in Copyright Law. "Oops" doesn't work.] The chances are slim, but it's entirely possible. I've written songs and later realized that they're ripoffs of a friend's song that I had heard previously.
I wouldn't be suprised... it's my understanding that they didn't delete them. In fact people who had streaming links in their playlist reported that they were working for some time after the site officially shut down.
Though as much personal information they had, between artists and listeners, I hope they at least gave the HDD's a once-over formatting.
Hasn't Episode III been in post-production for the past 6 months (and will be for the next 12)? Kind of late to save it now...

Who gets to make the wakka wakka sound?
3. ??? 4. Profit!
Uh, how about it just uses itself while we're at it.

So how the hell does anyone with a reasonably recent computer run the game?
If you're directly sending me data, of any kind, why is it unreasonable for me to be able to save it on my computer? Regardless of whether it's saved by "default" or not.
So how does this run on Win2k/XP if the drive is formatted in NTFS? Does it communicate with Windows when writing? Or does it need its own partition?
"Tools like Toast can convert the .m4p files to aiff files"
... I don't know how Toast goes about such a conversion.)
How is that different from PlayFair? (I ask this in all seriousness

All your /home are belong to us?
I looked around the site but didn't see anything so I'll ask here:
Is there a way to just download the Writer portion of OO? It's really all I need...
How, exactly, do the measure boot time? From power button to desktop? Power button to where Linux actually starts loading/initializing?
" Turning off the preview pane is just treating the symptoms and ignoring the root."
When the virus operates by executing via the Preview Pane, disabling the preview pane is the solution until there's a patch.

Oh I'm well aware of that ... thank you though. :) I meant more along the lines of what the AC above said ... "clicky."

It goes to the NanoExhaust, of course!

No no
Well, hopefully he'll be able to redirect Bubba...

"maybe mp3s too!"
