What is really disgusting is the lack of coverage.
This happened right in front of all the reporters that were outside the building. There were 200 protesters. You'd think this is at least news worthy.
However, our major networks, sponsored by the same corporate dollars sponsoring the debates, refuse to acknoledge the existence of 3rd party candidates.
One concern about true free trade is that it may encourage the practice of dumping. Where a company will sell good below cost at a different country in order to drive a foreign compentitor out of business.
Seems like everyone keeps ranting on how "Real Networks hacking DRM" is good for apple, or how apple should open source their DRM, or how they should licence the technology to competitors.
To me it looks like they're making money, and maybe people should stop ranting about what Apple should do and look at what's working.
When I say marketing, I wasn't just refering to commercials, but the whole process.
Who's doing the studies on what features people want and how to prioritize them? Who's deciding whether the software should be imaged as a high quality/high performance, or low cost alternative. Engineers don't necessarily know what's best for the customer and open source software can sometimes get over bloated really quickly.
It's pretty cool IBM and other companies like Red Hat are collaborating on the Linux front. Now we just need to see similar market collaboration for other open source softwares.
Don't you remember the days when microsoft was hyping the first version of windows, but they never actually produced the first real implementation until after apple has release their version of the GUI OS.
I think this is what microsoft is doing. Promising the world, without an actual line of code, then producing it years later after someone else has already made the product.
Perhaps I'll use it to fake my death by submerging myself in a bath tub full of it, then dropping a hair dryer into the tub and video tape the whole thing.
The biggest problem with open source is Marketing!!!!
We have heard about open source software, but there is not open source marketing!!!!
There isn't anyone doing customer studies, usability tests, etc... Developers think they know it all and develop things according to what they like. No one there to say, "We should cut this feature because the gains over time spent isn't worth it."
That company no longer has the ability to sustain itself from day to day operations.
Or Maybe it's better to buy 1 share of SCOX, wipe my ass with it, and mail it back to Darl McBride. It's just too hard to say what gives me more pleasure.
It would be cool if we can equip the homeless with backpacks that can amplify cell phone signals. Since they're always hanging out in front of buildings, they can be paid a Big Mac to wear an antenna and help the people inside improve reception.
Knowing Steve Jobs..
By 2006, instead of having a "Genie" effect in OSX, he'll actually have real Genies.
I think more likely, Microsoft will just end up putting in more Cells in their next XBox if the PS3 proves successful.
Now if we can get the figures to how many M$ employees use Google.
=)
Maybe they'll call it XBox XP..
but then again, the whole XP thing is wearing off..
Maybe it'll be XBOX VIIV
=)
In other news, the Phantom Game Console will make it's first physical apperance.

What is the Libertarian view on this practice?

example.
But I think the ultimate abuse example would be having sex in public.
=)
Well.. All I really need is the option to install a bat phone in the mayor's office. He's got the answer to everything.
Maybe he's even got a tornado reversal spray?

The sad thing about open source is there isn't really any marketing control.
Linux hasn't really taken off into mainstream unti IBM started throwing it's weight and marketing Linux.
If someone could figure out a open source way of marketing and marketing studies to fuel product development, then we'll see a new era.

LOL at parent.
=)
I'm sure people can just make a large adhoc network with somebody outside the building and it's a WAN.
=)
If someone had a way to benefit from this,
It's AOL.
If they can solve the problem of data loss from folding a disk. (I guess it can be done using massive redundancy).
We can send share data by throwing paper air planes at each other.
How cool is that?
I'm a NERD..
I'll do it in the most expensive way possible.
Anyways, that was a joke.. don't think too much of it.
=)

I think Paris Hilton is hot,
But I don't want to see the insides of her.
I meant to say "shorted", not 'sorted'.
If anyone's listening.. add a spell/grammar check feature for God's sake!!!!
SCOX definately should be sorted.

Yes,
We can all be super spies. With gigs of data in a watch, we can sneak into foreign embassies and video tape almost everything in sight.
