Kidding, but seriously, a BS is for everyone in every field. I got my BS and I have a good job, I have friends that didn't finish their degree at all who also have good jobs, it's all in what you make of it.
You make "drunk every weekend" sound like a bad thing, what's wrong with attending a party and having a few drinks, so long as you get your education, I say go have fun.

Here's some communication theory for you: Learn to spell definitely so you don't sound like an idiot.
It is one of the simplest words to spell, and people here butcher it all the time.
Well, I realize I'm doing the exact same (tired and boring rant) as you by pointing this out, but don't you think that if people "butcher it all the time" that means that a word is in fact not "one of the simplest words to spell"
I only point this out because I'm sick of all the high and mighty I can spell better than you posts. I mean good for you, but it does it really matter, we're not in school here, we're simply speaking our opinions, and I'll not disagree that proper spelling and grammar are important aspects of communication, but the lack there of doesn't mean that a person's not making a good point.
Well said. Your first point is exactly the point I was thinking of while I was reading the various responses.
It's also true that Americans (United States) need to stop all the revisionist history. I am a proud US citizen, and while our history isn't pristine, we have much to be proud of with out distoring the facts. This would probably be helpful for our future as well, to keep us from repeating mistakes. As the saying goes, those that refuse to learn from history are doomed to repeat their mistakes, and I'd say that if we don't learn our history acuratly we're more likely to repeat our mistakes, because when we learned about them in school they didn't apear to be mistakes.
I submit to you that our own government is (inadvertantly) supporting fear and terror.
I'm not one to be a conspiracy theorist, but I'm not so sure that it's inadvertant (that's not to say they are supporting terrorists).
AlQueda got a lot of milage out of those attacks.
Well, the hawks in government are also getting a lot of milage out of peoples reactions to the attacks, do you really think they want to calm our fears, when as long as they can keep us afraid, they can do anything they want in the name of "Homeland Security."
I'm just glad to see that people are starting to realize what's happening, hopefully more people will before too many of our rights and freedoms are taken away.
Personally, I think that we could fight terrorism with the laws existing pre 9/11/01, just the processes needed tweaking, but that would have meant admitting that they screwed up.
Please tell me this statement applies to luxury cars only. I don't have a luxury car, but I do prefer to bring my car to the dealer rather than "Joe's Garage." It costs more, but it's worth it.
Well, depends on Joe's Garage, but generally I find the above to be true to all cars. Though a luxury car does cost a heck of a lot more to service.
Also, except for the possibility of a free loaner, I've not found that dealerships do any better work than a good independant mechanic, guess the trick is to find a good mechanic (and that can be quite a trick).
...if Salon didn't exist, I'm quite sure there would be no lack of interesting articles that get posted here on Slashdot from OTHER sources...
That's a bit of an over simplification. If Salon didn't exist then sure there would be other sources. However, writers need to be compensated and websites need to pay their bills as well, so if a site cannot make enough money to stay in business, they have to shut down, so then/. readers (for example) then starts leeching stories from another site, they loose revenue and shutdown. Lather, rinse, repeat. After a while the amount of quality articles available on the web is drastically reduced.
This too is of course an over simplification. The parent poster was expressing his distaste for the content Salon provides, but the implication that it doesn't matter if a site gets driven out of business due to people reposting their articles if feel is wrong.
but as Dennis Miller say's "That's just my opinion, I could be wrong"
Well, if I understand correctly, so long as you don't try to hide where/how you got the data the ACLU wouldn't be opposed to private citizens (or even corporations) havin access or merging public data.
Just so you know, my expereince has been that RH9 is slower, and personally I don't like the look and feel they've added to KDE and GNOME, that of course is purely a matter of preference. If it were me, I'd just try building a new kernel.
I am glad to hear that it will be effectively dead for this budget year, but what happens next year? Is the program still on the books just awaiting funding to spring up on us.
I'm not really sure how the entire process works, but I wont really feel confident that TIA is dead until it is officially killed, as opposed to simply not funded.
I don't doubt the numbers, but are they considering that much of that content could be legal. A friend of mine's band has released their entire demo CD on the internet, that is still legal.
I know that there are a lot of copyright violations going on out there, I just wish that they wouldn't lump all of the file swapping as illegal.
I did forget to say that EBS's non-tech areas were run by a bunch of morons (i.e. management and sales), but the Engineers and technical personel were very good. Or at least that was my expereince.
I spent a few months working at EBS before the collapse, and while I have no great love for Enron, I do have to say the claims of the prosecutiors are complete BS.
Sure things were still under development, but they (pretty much) worked, I saw them work myself.
EBS always got a bad rap, but from what I saw most of it was undesereved, the tech was there, the market wasn't.
It seems to me that there are plenty of legit targets for the Feds to go after concerning the Enron case, they should go after them there's no need for a witch hunt based on trumped up claims. This can only hurt the governments case against the real criminals involved.
I don't think there needs to be a distinction. I don't think there's much of a correlation between personal privacy and public safety. We're not going to be safer by giving up privacy.
I'm currently using a laptop with an Athlon XP-M chip and I love it, better price and great power management. I'm glad to hear that AMD is continuing to inovate in the mobil processing arena. If this continues, I'll definitly purchase another AMD based laptop.

Also, In my experience I'd say more than 50% of all tool users use them for fun/kicks, not because they have a pressing task to do with them.
Thank god my girlfriend doesn't read /.
yeah, yeah, what a slashdotter has a girlfriend, must be a liar blah, blah

End off topic rant.

Just my $0.02
In the future Spaceballs will be a reality, but then again "even in the future nothing works!"

So you're saying Mozilla 1.4 final will never be released? :-)
