Mulalley is too old. Elop the Nokia guy destroyed his own company and the 'internal' candidates listed were injected into MS from acquisitions and can't wait to cash out. MS is actually a very conservative company they will pick a long time insider. It shouldn't amaze anyone if they pick someone with an accounting or legal background. MS is a portfolio of acquisitions now not an internally innovative company. They BUY innovation.
Twitter doesn't make any money and it's not clear how they would. But again, none of that matters. It's buzz it's bubble it's sizzle it's cool. Money will 'develop' on it's own. And if not - Microsoft will buy them and kill it.
Local taxes need to charged as well. Why should the residents of Chicago with its 10.something percent sales tax get a free ride? I say screw them to the wall too.
Javascript is killing everything. Now it's fairly standard to have 3 or 4 or 5 levels of Javascript with dozens of objects. It's choking everything to death. Time to fight back
It's not priority with them. First off any system that purports to do all things for all mankind on all platforms is going to have an enormous amount of inherent bloat and carry alongs because it's too hard not to write highly generic high level abstractions and interfaces at every step of the intrasystem process scheme.
Secondly, Windows has never been designed as a mobile or portable system. It's a bolt on like nearly everything else. Hell, networking is a bolt on it's not built in. So mobility is yet another extension that sort of jams itself here and there into the rest of the system. It's essentially running a desktop system with a bunch of frills on top of it that run mobile but underneath it's the same old same old leviathan.
Third - MS has always relied on the power of hardware over efficiency. Wintel is more than a term, it's a dysfunctional marriage. MS has always jammed as many features together with the expectation that Intel would paper it all over with bigger faster hotter CPU's. MS systems run junk in the background because their CPU's allow them to.
Fourth - they're just not all that interested in your demands. They're interested in their demands. Battery life isn't anything they care about.
They've been 'building' the 2nd ave subway since 1962. 1957 really if you look at the original plans. It's like the flyover of 495 into the midtown tunnel which has been under 'construction and repairs' since 1966 and all they've managed to do so far is deploy road cones.
I guess no one remembers the debacle of the replacement IRT trains in the early 1980's when they contracted it to a Japanese firm and DAY ONE they discovered that Japanese seats are too narrow for big fat American asses and they were taken out of service for 2 years to replace the seats.
I guess no one remembers the Great 7 Train Improvement project which took the express line out of service for 7 years.
I guess no one remembers the articulated bus experiment where all these European articulated buses were bought to 'improve' things and within a year the few that hadn't completely broken down were taken out of service because it was too expensive to maintain them.
I guess no one remembers that IND and IRT trains are fundamentally different because IRT trains run in tunnels that are too narrow for cars in the rest of the system. This is why everything has to be done in parallel, duplicated.
If my own org is any benchmark and it might be - corps are just too fucking cheap to upgrade from MSO 2003. So there's little upside to worrying about OO or Libre vs MSO more modern file formats.
Outgoing mayor Mao Tse Bloomberg famously quipped this past weekend he's HAPPY NYC is UNaffordable because it means lots of people want to live here. If anyone thinks New York is going to do anything for the groundlings who don't ride to work in the back of limos you are delusional.
She will soon be interpreted by her base of drones as wanting to do away with all intelligence services and this will get her the support of the far left. Of course even if she IS a candidate in 3 years - 4 years completely out of government - it's a lie and she'll pull an Obama not do any of those things she was perceived to promise and laugh her way through her first term.
Each turn of the crank of Word is a new and different product. The migration from Word 2003 to 2007 to 2010 and beyond is as steep as moving from Word to OpenOffice. It's boringly predictable that when discussing the manipulation of a document over the phone where each person has a slightly different version of Word (that is, no on screen document sharing) it's pointless because so many of the controls and how those controls operate are different. But hey at least it's not Excel which is even worse.
Now let's abolish oil, gas, coal and nuclear. I mean how bad was the Dark Ages, really.
It's not so bad once you get used to it. Lot's of people have them and say they're wonderful. They have to. All Hail Dear Leader
Don't give increases except to directors and officers and fire everyone else more or less randomly according to what the accountants want.
The only requirement on earth for IE at all, any version, is Windows update.

Or have the just blame the Republicans?
Just so I don't have to drive. I'm that lazy.

Skype will now be 'rebranded' and borg-similated as 'BingSkyDriveOpenCloudOfficeShareBlog365RealCommunication for Windows 8.1'
And it will die gasping for air like nearly everything else Microsoft tries to 'innovate'.
Outside of the small circle of bloggers and 'journalists' who were hoping it was an antigravity battle station. Because they're morons.
Just give me a free Chrome OS to put on my Asus eee PC as a replacement.
And their family, burn their house the ground. Repeat until no longer needed.

Are pretty much just a bribe to Congress and Obama to let him continue to be a white slaver. DREAM act my ass.

God I hope so. The first batch of cars that catch on fire or just fall apart in a thousand miles will be awesome.
