    My quick parsing of this act suggests that it only applies to the Republic of Slovenia. Since this is a US company with a US patent the point seems moot. FWIW I don't believe there is an official private use exemption but I could be wrong.

    I would also like to add that I really dislike Creative's menu system in the first place, so maybe making people not use it is a good thing!

    No, the experiment I was aluding to was using ice core samples to determine if ozone depleting chemicals existed in nature before industrialization.

    It is easy to figure out when the hole appeared because it happened in the last 100 years or so.

    Personnaly, I find haveing software dictate business methods oppressive so I rolled-my-own.

    Amen brother! There is nothing worse than shelling out thousands of dollars for niche proprietary software and finding out the UI sucks or it takes 25 clicks to do something simple. Customizability is a HUGE advantage but you need good people to put it in place. You should be able to write your optimized procedure first and fit the software in with it instead of the other way around.

    Scientists measuring the ozone layer have only been here for about 30 years.

    Real measurement for 30 years verses millions of years of unknown history.


    Hmm...now if only we had some sort of material that could trap gasses at the poles and would accrete at a predictable pace hence saving samples of historical atmosphere. Possibly something that starts as a liquid but ends up as a solid?

    The hole is a seasonal ozone hole over the South Pole. It comes and goes, sometimes it's bigger than usual. This has been used by environmentalists since the 80's to scare people.

    Holy crap, you mean global climate change takes a while to happen?

    Geologists have been using the threat of a large quake to scare people in Seattle for decades but it hasn't happened yet, that must mean it will never happen huh?

    I'm attacking the claim that music piracy increases record sales because of a correlation between people who pirate music, and the amount of music they buy.

    Why is causation required (and who said it was causation to begin with). The correlation is that music pirates by more music than non pirates. Hence they are the better customer. Traditionally businesses try to entice the better customers.

    So even if someone took the precautions outlined above by you, once it has exploded we could trace the source of the uranium/plutonium back to the original source and have a good idea of who created the bomb in the first place.

    They 'know' it works, 'know' it does what they want, 'know' it's compatible with their software, hardware, customers, and supply chain.

    Well it helps that in this example it is actually true 99% of the time. It is when they claim that free is more expensive than $300 that people question the results.

    I expect the pro-choice crowd to be EXTREMELY upset at this research, that manages to create research lines WITHOUT destroying life, as many of the vocal members aren't focused on the research, but a believe that every embryo destroyed someone secures their agenda.

    The pro-choice crowd was EXTREMELY excited about the ability to destroy more embryos as part of their "proof" that embryos aren't life.


    Wow...just....wow. How did such a blatant ad hominem attack get modded up?

    Newsflash: pro-choice people don't go around destroying fetuses for fun. As much as some people would like you to believe...
