It adds a "tuning" section to the normal NVidia control panel.. gives you access to the GPU and graphics memory clocks, as well as the fan speed. Stock fan speed stays at 30% until the card is over 180F or so... cranked it up to 65%, and I still can't hear the card over my quiet water-cooled system (no video waterblock yet).
Bumped my GPU and memory clock up by 100 mhz each too while I was in there.
Based on personal experience with the 8800 GT boards, I think this problem is vastly overstated... Running 4 of them in my house, and three friends also running them in SLI config, and no failures. That's with the boards overclocked by a bit.
Additionally, failure rates based on NewEgg reviews seem very low (and we all know people love to post a nasty review if they get a bad one).
The cards do run nasty hot, at least until you set the fan to turn on at something under 180F.... who the hell came up with that turn-on temp?
The problem I do have is the mislabelling of it. Labels might be the only thing a parent checks before they decide on letting their children view it.
GTA was already rated "Mature" even without the Hot Coffee content. As others have pointed out, the game already involved killing, drugs, unseen but pretty obvious sex with hookers, etc.
Many ISP's are blocking the default ports that Bittorrent uses. In the very least they are throttling those ports. But you can simply tell your client to use a different set of ports.
I wasn't trolling, just very suprised that a machine that looks like it's intended to be fairly high-end would use a very weak video processor....
The Geforce FX 5200 processors, while supporting the latest features, are slower than the previous generation Geforce Ti4200. Lots of people in the PC world were suckered into buying a 5200 based card in the recent doom upgrade craze, only to find out that they are amazingly slow.
I guess any comment that points out a shortcoming must automatically be a troll.....
That's a pretty weak video processor for such a pretty machine. I guess they don't plan on having Doom 3 ported to mac anytime soon....

You can still leech the file behind nat. Others won't be able to download from you directly, but if you are downloading a chunk from someone, they can download a chunk from you too....
From the article, which even the submittor and slashdot editors couldn't be bothered to read:

Yes, and ignore the fact that two justices who ruled for Mr Hiibel were appointed by Republican presidents. Maybe this shows that Republican presidents appointed fair and balanced judges.
From the defendant's website (at papersplease.org): "One balmy May evening back in 2000, Dudley was standing around minding his own business when all of a sudden, a policeman pulled-up and demanded that Dudley produce his ID."
Actually, he was standing behind his pickup on the side of the road. A passer-by called police to report that they had observed the man and woman in the truck and that the man punched the woman. A police officer, responding to the report of domestic violence, drove up to investigate. He asked for the defendant for identification as part of investigating the domestic violence report.
So he wasn't just standing around, and wasn't approached for no reason.
Guess again. That runway is about 20 feet wide, giving the plane a wingspan around 15 feet.
Here are two photos from the now-slashdotted site that give an idea of the actual size: http://www.csd.net/~cgadd/buff1.jpg http:/ /www.csd.net/~cgadd/buff2.jpg (may my ISP forgive me....)
I've got little $50.00 RC airplanes with 6 foot wingspans. I'll never look at them the same again.
Most UPS systems won't power an aquarium filter for long, but you can use an UPS to power an air-pump. An airstone on the end will keep water circulating, preventing any O2 problems in the tank.
The other problem a power outage causes is that the bacteria in the filter that do the bio-filtration will die during the power outage, and when the power restarts, all the waste will get pumped into the tank.
So, power an airstone from an UPS (or get a simple and cheap battery powered airpump), and break-down and clean the filter so that when it comes back on, it doesn't pollute the tank.
. Google is included in the suit because they are allowing paid placement customers (competing petstores) to use the PetsWarehouse.
No, actually, Google is listed because a search for Petswarehouse finds material damaging to Petswarehouse. The suit even mentions something about how Google refused to remove the links to negative comments , presumably about the lawsuit.

you don't read so well? The server in the article wasn't in the states, it was in Germany.
it's more interesting if you read the whole article, not just the first page.
No, without commands from the computer to fire the injectors, etc, it won't start.

please don't confuse the whining troll with facts.....
My wife was suprised when I mentioned how left-leaning slashdot is overall.
I'm curious why that is. I'm the same as you, in that I know a bunch of techies, and none of them are liberal.
Maybe it's because slashdot has a lot of students? Or lots of unemployed techies?
Don't use the default ports (6881-6889) for torrents. MANY isps are now throttling or blocking those ports completely.

You should probably question some of Britannica's content too!

Please, this is slashdot. We can't let the facts and reason interfer with a good knee-jerk....

Consider that the ebook can potentially hold HUNDREDS of books. So if it's as light as 3 or 4
paperback books, I say it's doing pretty good.
no, this doesn't keep the last letter in the right spot.
