Just tried it on chromium nightly build 7.0.522.0 (59180) on Ubuntu 10.04 LTS 64bit and it got 11180.7ms looks like the chromium developers aren't sitting still either
Because i'm not their sys admin... dammit:) and also easy online backup solutions wheren't around when i was asked to help them.
I don't really want to have to support 20 or so friends and families backup solutions. I have my own life you know ( being on slashdot this may come as a surprise to you )
although that said maybe now that online internet backup solutions are becoming better and easier to use I may suggest this to the more tech savvy of my friends and family.
RAID == BACKUP for the general public. I have time and time again tried to teach my non-computer literate friends and family to backup their data... they have good intentions especially if they've recently lost data but ultimately they don't backup or do it once and don't do it again.
They best solution I have found, that gave me a little peace of mind that there data might be semi safe, is a RAID mirror setup. At least if one drive dies there's hope that the data will be salvageable. Cause you can bet they haven't performed any backup for months if ever.
Sounds like a cop out to me though, I can bet it would be relatively easy to get the source engine running on a PS3, its not that cutting edge. Sure you'd have to spend some dev time on it but i'm sure 22 million potential extra sales might be worth it ?
why are we under the impression that the perceived state transitions of energy and matter can be reversed (i.e. time travel) The passing of time is a concept created by human thought to allow us to understand this transition, nothing more nothing less.
so the concept of travelling back to a point in space that a clump of matter or energy was at previously is not possible. State changes of energy and matter are forward flowing by their nature, and cannot be reversed... Well that my 2 cents worth anyway.
The only problem that i see is explaining to some users what a service actually is! A lot of windows users wouldn't have the faintest idea what a service is let alone what ones to enable.
I was looking into setting myself up a PVR system but Australian PVR is still in its infancy and there aren't any "officially" syndicated XML program guide feeds. The Australian broadcasters have been holding off from doing this as they want some sort of copy protection scheme setup before they will allow program guides to be syndicated. I'm sure this will mean people living in Australia will probably have to resort to using Windows Media Center instead of Linux based solutions, which i think is a real shame...
yeah probably similar to MSDE that microsoft has now. from what i've heard though the WinFS data engine will be radically stripped down and will probably look/act a bit like their marvalous Indexing service...cough..cough. That is it can't be used as anything other than a data store for WinFS.
Whats new! SP2 should hurt a few third part vendors too ie. firewall and antivirus vendors. I thought this was a common M$ strategy... create a third party application niche then squash it with the next windows update
Why has one division of microsoft released some of its code as open source WTL (Windows Template Library) which is available now on sourceforge, and another division is deriding open source as a method of developement. Maybe the WTL developers would like their work called a waste of money... but i doubt it
If you check in previous/. stories Fedora Core Doesn't Like to Dual Boot? you'll find its to do with the way disk geometry is being interpreted differently in 2.6 to the way the BIOS interprets it. I'm guessing Mandrake 10 has a 2.6 kernel option.
I had the same issue here in oz. Optus decided that they would suddenly block port 25 outbound. I wouldn't mind but they didn't even announce it to anyone. It was only after checking out the news groups and finding everyone else was in the same boat that optus finally acknoledged they had done this. It would be nice if these ISP's told their paying users, when they make critical changes to the way their network services works.
I was trying to get to download.microsoft.com all night (AEST) but no go... had to use our MSDN subcription access to download Visual Studio service pack 6... that points to a problem to me.
Hola!
This is a request for discussion..
Some of you may have heard of this crazy company called SCO (aka "Smoking
Crack Organization") who seem to have a hard time believing that open
source works better than their five engineers do. They've apparently made
a couple of outlandish claims about where our source code comes from,
including claiming to own code that was clearly written by me over a
decade ago.
You tell em' go linus
Kazaa k++ still has 2,589,853 users online

I'm using Kazaa k++ in australia at the moment, connects and downloads are unaffected, nothing to see hear... move along
But maybe Microsoft could be made to licence the Real codecs as part of an antitrust settlement instead of having the full blown RealPlayer installed... i personally don't like RealPlayer itself but the RealAudio codec would come in handy for those sites that insist on only supporting real.

I'd say they'd be using the SPU's rather than the video card (RSX) or maybe they're utilizing both if they're smart
SourceSafe would be better off forgotten entirely.
Yep definitely ... you must call it by its real name though SourceShredder

Why is there no PS3 version coming out. PS3 too hard for Valve to program for :)
Why doesn't this play on linux with moonlight v1.0 plugin ... oh the shame :)
it has been taken down :( guess the console manufacturers didn't like that too much.

cassini's inbuilt planet picture generator isn't pixel shader 2.0 / ARB2 compliant and thus can't apply a normal map to the generated planet :)
If you check the http://www.squarefree.com/extensions/adbar/ page you can pay $19.95 and get rid of the ads?
whats the point of an AdBar with no ads ????

The only way that the sa account is disabled by default is if mixed mode is not selected when the initial install of SQL Server occurs.
