All the contents of this mod was already available on the original disks. Therefor the scriptcode, the models, the animations and the dialogs by the original voice-actors were all created by RockStar. The only thing I had to do to enable the mini-games was toggling a single bit in the main.scm file. (Offcoarse it was not easy to find the correct bit). The Nude models that are used as a bonus in the Quick action version of the mod, were also already present on the original disk.
that is if you beleave him...(i see no reason not to, if it were a full mod, install files would need to be much bigger imho)
as well as the fact that ubunutu was NEVER ment as a server distro, hence 0% of the SERVER market is a GOOD thing, and kubunutu was not an attempt to save ubunutu, but an attempt to please KDE users (which btw worked quite well) Linux is not dead, and the only example the troll provides is server stats (note how he never mentions RedHat's server statistice?) Alot of people use linux on home boxen. Debian is only old because they prefer to remain stable, if you try a "testing" distro it is quite up to date (well more than the troll let on) Slackware workes fine on my amd Athlon 2700+ box, aswell as all the other boxen ive installed it on (provided i can config it right... can be confusing sometimes)... so this thread was a total troll, as shown by a complete attempt to disinform the public, aswell as a lack of link to the article where the AC supposedly read this...
you could opensource the game under a licence other than the gnu licence so that it still may be sold. how many people are doing to download and compile the source? how many people COULD compile the source (ie know what there doing)? how many people run linux (or bsd or whatever, non windows) where it is much easier to do so? and finally how many people would (even with all these in their favor) prefet to buy the game, to get a valid serial number, so it may get the updates from online aswell as connect to the servers for online play, not to mention the bonus of the magaziene, the company support, and all the other things that can come with a boxed sat (can you say free t-shirt?) it would seem to me that even if the game was opensource, the company wouldnt lose much is any profit off of it, because the linux market is low, not many people know how to compile it, and ontop of that alot of people pride them selves in accualy owning the game (not to mention for online games u need 2 buy a copy to play online)... and then when the linux platform becomes more popular then developers could port their own games if they wish, not needing to make them opensource if they wished (however they would now need to develope for 2 platforms instead of using the linux coder zealots to do it for them for free.... anyway thats just my 0.02 cents. take it for what its worth!
Also Apple is at heart a hardware company. If they start using off the shelf PC type architecture why buy a Mac when all you need is the O/S?
If you rtfm, you would know, and dont say its/.'ed because a ac posted the story above.
From TFA:
We can now return to the question of why people will continue to buy Macs when they could just run OS X on a Wal-Mart PC. The answer s simple: convenience. Remember with Intel Inside Apple is no longer asking users to forsake the Windows platform completely, soon users won't have to choose "either/or". Couple that with each OS update likely breaking plain box compatibility (remember that brief period of time when Real sold iPod "compatible" music?) and suddenly users see Macs as a viable option. The Mac will actually run the software they pirate from work and they'll be getting tired of hacking their PC, once again, just to keep using OS X. Sure there will always be people willing to break out the soldering iron or employ some other complicated method of EULA circumvention but Apple can put up with those diehard hackers to get a larger chunk of the market.
as a demonoid member (where this torrent is supposedly tracked from) i can say this torrent is no longer on demonoid (most likely because it was a fake/virus/etc) so i would say dont wast your energy trying to grab it, as there is no chance of downloading it.
like they dont ignore all copyrights asis now? mean you can pick up a copy of xp pro on a street corner for about $5(USD) along with any other new movies just hitting theatres here in america. And i cannot imagin how much money MS must be making from their chineese blogs and other online services. considering there free for public use (asin ad supported) basicaly as a extension of windows (read - value add) or so they claim, then why do they not just put up a big american flag and tell china to fuck off? oh yeah thats right, Billy G's a fuckin communist (only when it comes to morals though)
ok first off, doom 3 has been out for some time, not to mention its recently released expansion pack, so that leads me to beleave this is a re-post by a troll of another thread. anyway ill still take the time (because im bored and find this post comidicly innacurate). First John Carmack (not Jon Carmack) has had a major role in coding fod ID software, he had nothing to do with the development of Unreal (by epic games) or duke nukem (also by epic games i beleave). The shooters at Columbine which every body points to when referencing how violent and bad videogames are hadpre meditated the killings (for those trolls out there, this means they planned them!) and playing violent games like doom was mearly ment as a "practice run" not that it would have dont much good, as most these games pit you aganst demons from hell, not Danny from third period. As far as target practice, i do not see how playing a video game can improve that by itself, as there is no recoil from a mouse, you do not hold the mouse in the same way you hold a gun, nor do you get any expirence aiming with the "targeting" system in all FPS's, no the killers at columbine had access to real guns, and were practicing with them long in advance of the killings. And if you want to blaim their psycho killings on the video game industry, who not blaim the paint ball industry aswell, that is a more realistic and less seperated form of "killing" people. Or for that matter the gun industry who made the guns which the kids used? or even the school system for not having metal detectors, or the cops or their parents for not checking out their weird behavior leading upto the day of the shooting. The fact is that the role violent games played in that incident (if any) is no more than the roll the teachers played for not asking more questions. Hell the bullies who pushed these kids over the edge are more to blaim than the games they played. Now as to your cousin who "became catatonic" after losing a death match, not only do i not beleave it (and if it is true it wasnt the game that caused it, it would have been a chemical in balence in the brain that caused obsessive cumpulsive tendencies, in which case you are as much at fault as the game is for not picking up on this and trying to get him help), but im willing to say if your not making it up, its more your fault or whoever was with him or closest to him for not stopping him or trying to get him help. anyway i dont know why im replying to this AC troll, i guess just because i havent seen a good responce to posts like this in the past so ill take the time to respond as best i can.
judging from your comment history you seem to be pretty much trolling, and trying to make up for it with rye humor on occasion. You fail to try to see things from any one elses point of view, and your just a regular fuck head. by siply posting "you have no point" or "you fail it" you do not provide any added value to this site or the internet in general. please disconnect.
then reguarding your first point, its off topic and shouldnt have been posted or modded as such. and the second point, while it may not be a real great reason (plus my wireless keyboard decided to fsck up typing "just in-curtious", its not annoying in the way you use "OMFG" and "LOL" its more like "IM YELLING IN YOUR EAR WHILE YOUR TRYING TO RELAX BECAUSE YOU FEEL LIKE YOUR GOING TO BE SICK FROM FLYING!!" (not to mention air line food sucks anyway)
reguarding your first point about 911, im sure if the plane got into trouble 911 would love to know, not that they can ACCUALY DO ANYTHING about it! and in the slim chance you did survive the accualy accident, im sure 911 will send a squad car and ambulance right out into the middle of the (atlantic or pacific or any other large body of water) to save you, not that this wouldnt be on national news 2 mins after it happend!
and yes while people are rude on planes atm, its not a obnoixsouly loud mind numbinly stupid rude, its jstin curtious. not like some little girl yelling into her phne, refusing to shut up because her mommy gave her the phone and the constitution (which she just learned about in school) says she has the right to free speech, that is an entirely different kind of rude.

well if the ability to be A,B, and C was built into all the software, then you may not have a choice if you are C or not, just like with bittorrent where if you want to download you need to upload, if when you open the client it automagicaly launches the "bouncer" server then you may not have much of a choice, plus you could be rated on how much data you have "bounced" and get faster/more connections (just a thought, i havent had much success in getting Rodi to work ai this point)

from TFA:
Li-Ion battery life
2.6 hrs (4-cell) up to 6.3 hrs (8-cell)
With optional extended-life battery
5.0 hrs (4-cell) up to 8.5 hrs (8-cell)
that means in testing the minimum life they got out of it was 2.6 with a maximum of 6.3 hrs out of it.
